Another “Obama bin Laden” gaffe

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 18, 2009 10:39 AM

D’oh.

But since it wasn’t the fault of Fox News or a Republican, you’ll barely hear a peep about it.

Probably what happened was that someone entered Obama into their spell checker and when they typed o-s-a-m-a it auto-corrected to Obama.

Then the moron forgot to reread what he typed. Or maybe he did!

“Last fall we raised questions about longstanding practices within the Department of Administration regarding tax treatment of per diem payments,” Kreitzer wrote in an exchange of e-mails over the past few days with the Daily News.

At the Governor’s request, we reviewed the situation to determine whether we were in full compliance with the pertinent Internal Revenue Service regulations,” Kreitzer wrote. “As a result of this review, we determined that per diem needs to be treated as income, requiring a revision of W-2 forms for any affected employees.”

So your point is that all Alaska State employees receiving per diem were informed by the administration (wrongly, perhaps) that it was tax-free, then Governor Palin requested a review which has now changed the determination, affecting her and all others in a similar situation? Thanks for showing this the light of day!!

The first sentence in the article…

It’s not just angry rightwingers who mix up “Obama” and “Osama.”

Really? Angry rightwingers? Nah…this isn’t biased, right?

Yahoo, AP and CNN were there first.

    Unbelievable.

Well gee, Brad_SK, what’s the deal? It’s not like Plain’s the Secretary of the Treasury or something, able to control and direct the financial future of the country…she’s only a governor.

I mean, imagine if Obama had nominated a T-Sec who had not paid his taxes…oh wait…never mind!

Interesting. If you actually READ the article, this isn’t about Palin’s tax problems. It’s about a bunch of other Alaskan officials — lots of Dems here too. Looks like they had to clarify what’s tax free and what’s not. It’s not as if Palin was deliberately evading taxes.

This is not like Geithner who was REIMBURSED for taxes, never paid them, and only paid them when he was caught after he was nominated (laughably) for the job of Treasury Secretary (where DID I put that Tax Cheat stamp!).

    Nice try…

When did I say Obama’s appointees or all his actions were right…? The point here is about what kind of news are hyped or ignored in what kind of sites. This is a republican blog (not necessarily a complete conservative) and so Palin’s goofs are ignored here…Similarly libtard sites only make a fuss when a republican screws up Obama/Osama.

Your argument is more like some Huffpo’s…”Don’t look at my problems…They have bigger problems”

a.) I’m not convinced she made any goofs; what she did seems reasonable and legal.

b.) Geithner is the one who deserves your censure – he’s our nation’s T-Sec and in charge of the recovery!

How can the public even begin to have confidence in the markets and the economy, when the man in charge, the man who has a direct effect on all our finances, cannot be trusted to pay his own taxes and displays the height of irresponsibility by pushing the blame off on computer software?

brad_sk: Your argument just doesn’t stand up under scrutiny. RARELY are democrats identified as democrats when they are caught doing all kinds of despicable things. And, even when the press does get around to mentioning it, it is blown off as “they mispoke” or “they’re sorry” so that makes it all better. It is a very rare thing when democrats are EVER viewed unkindly by the vast majority of newspapers, TV, etc. Try re-reading the article you linked which indicates to me those involved did not intentionally rip off the taxpayer–so, don’t blow your liberal defending smoke at me.

President Obama bin Laden does terrorize me at times, such as when he is talking, so for one I am glad Science is tracking him.

Wasn’t it Splash Kennedy (D) Mass. who referred to the man as Osama? Why I do believe it was Flyoverman .

I beg to differ. Michelle’s About page says nothing about this being a Republican blog. She’s put up plenty of posts against Republicans who side with the libtards. Also, Michelle permits pro-tyranny, God-hating, pustules-of-putridity (like lgm) to post here. If Michelle was a Republican shill, these libcrappers would be gone pretty quick.
