Gimme, gimme, gimme: More scenes from the anti-Obama entitlement backlash

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 19, 2009 12:15 PM

So, a CNBC host is calling for a new “tea party” to protest Barack Obama’s out-of-control spendulus/entitlement culture? We’ve been doing it all week. Seattle, Denver, Mesa. Kansas this weekend. And more outbreaks to come. I’m posting a second round of photos from KFYI’s anti-porkulus protest in Arizona yesterday in opposition to Barack Obama’s visit to push his massive housing entitlement campaign. Thanks to La Mano at Sticker Patch for the pics. The revolt against the savior-based economy continues…

***

Via CBSNews EconWatch, Obama’s massive mortgage entitlement plan gets panned:

President Obama’s
mortgage bailout announcement on Wednesday directs $75 billion in government funds to bail out certain borrowers who are behind on mortgage payments or “at risk” of falling behind.

Although the president said that “it will not rescue the unscrupulous or irresponsible,” there’s no requirement that that U.S. Treasury deny bailouts to Americans who took outsize risks in hopes that their homes would continue to appreciate.

Which is why Obama’s announcement has drawn a howl of protest from renters and those people — yes, they exist — who bought cheaper, modest homes they could comfortably afford.

BuckNakedPolitics writes: “I have little sympathy in one sense with the moans of homeowners stuck with negative equity as a result of a gamble that the value of homes would always go up, up, up. One reason I’m living in an apartment is that I recognized that this myth was a myth.”

Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin describes it as a new “massive mortgage entitlement campaign.” Housing bubble blog Patrick.net dubbed it a “plan to reward debtors at the expense of savers.”

NewsRantsAndReviews says:”Obama has one word for those who didn’t get in over their heads during the recent housing boom and have paid their mortgages on time: Suckers!”

…A reader post at the New York Times says: “I should have lied about my income and refinanced in 2005 for the full ‘value’ of the loan with a low, low teaser rate. Than I should have used the cash for new appliances, vacations, flat screen TVs. Oh and I could have financed all of my son’s college instead of taking out all those loans.”

Nice. “Unpatriotic” and “kooks” now seem to be the descriptors applied to Americans who oppose seeing their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren saddled with trillions in debt and a socialist government.

A backlash starts slowly and grows. People are going to get sick of Obama and it can’t happen fast enough.

Funding I consider as limited, rightfully, to a redemption of the debt within the lives of a majority of the generation contracting it; every generation coming equally, by the laws of the Creator of the world, to the free possession of the earth he made for their subsistence, unincumbered by their predecessors, who, like them, were but tenants for life.

Recall that at the end of that story the rich guy who was paying 58% of the bill and got beat up by the other nine because he got the largest refund – doesn’t show up up for lunch the next day. Without him, the other nine don’t have enough money to pay their lunch bill.

So.. the day after that they will begin to starve because the restaurant isn’t going to serve people who don’t pay their bills.

According to Rush’s site – The top 10% income earners supply over TWO THIRDS of our federal revenue. What is to stop them from all liquidating their wealth and just sit on their money? Doing that would legally CUT OFF 2/3 OF FEDERAL REVENUE!

It would be ugly but it would starve these commie socialists out of office and get this nightmare over a lot more quickly in my opinion. I’m all for it and only wish I was rich enough to help do it.

Amazing indeed. Bush had some of the lowest approval ratings ever. EVER. Mediocre isn’t newsworthy. Least popular president ever is.

And it looks like you all could use a little (recent) history lesson. Bush nearly doubled our national debt during his 8 years in office. Your children and grandchildren have to pay that back, too.

When President Bush took office, the national debt stood at $5.7 trillion,” said Rep. John M. Spratt Jr. (D-S.C.). chairman of the House Budget Committee. “Today it is $9.2 trillion and rising, projected to increase to $9.7 trillion by the time President Bush leaves office – up by $4 trillion in eight years. This is the legacy our children and grandchildren will inherit from the fiscal policy of this administration.”

For 8 years this wasn’t worthy of your scorn. Now suddenly it’s “Generational Theft?” This is exactly why the right has absolutlely no credibility on this issue.

Not saying your case specifically, but, 100 years ago and for ALL time before that, most premature babies or ones with severe physical problems would certainly die. But that allowed the parents to simply try again and have another chance to be blessed with a healthy child. huggybear: And it looks like you all could use a little (recent) history lesson. Bush nearly doubled our national debt…

So? Bush was far more LIBERAL than conservative! He should get ‘credit’ for the second largest senior entitlement ever – medicare part ‘D’. Then there was his insistence that illegals get amnesty. Will you at least give him credit for those liberal agenda’s?

But then federal revenue increased and the deficit decreased after Bush’s tax cut – but RINOS and liberals in Congress SPENT IT because his veto pen dried up. Revenues increased after JFK’s tax cut too – but so what if liberals just end up squandering it to feather their own nests?

BTW you are admitting that Obamas’s rating ain’t any better than Bush’s who had about the SAME approval rating when he took office.

I had never even heard of a lifetime cap on health insurance until we were told in the NICU…

and I supposed if you were in our shoes, you’d want a higher lifetime cap at todays prices..

no one is asking for handouts.. I am a true blue conservative…

When I wrote my post… It didn’t occur to me that it would cost more to the employers… I have written comments since then.

It’s the cost of healthcare causing people to run out of coverage…
how else does a ten month old baby run out of a lifetime cap???

A LV hospital was paid $1600 per day for the NICU alone…
but Stanford was paid $26,000 per day for the bed alone..

how can you justify $26,000 a day… for a bed…?? That is why we ran out..
and that price was at a disount…
Neonatologists were PAID $1692 per day.. and that was at a discount…

    Costs are too high…

anyone with a one or two million dollar lifetime cap is SOL if they get sick.

What happened to me can happen to anyone on this blog.
