I have to shut up now. People of color aren’t supposed to criticize Dear Leader.

Sharing some angry letters from the overflowing e-mailbox — and then I’ll dutifully put on my duct tape and go sit in the corner. Not.

From Bernard Woodward…

Hello Michele,

I’ve saw you various times on Fox news and I’ve noticed that you are consistently critical of The President and you never have anything good to say in his regard and I’m very offended by that, it’s as if you criticize him not for what he does so much but you criticize him for who and what he is, because he’s the first “African American President” in the history of this country. It’s as if you only come on when there is something to criticize President Barack Obama about or any other Black person. I wonder sometimes if you have any mirrors in the place that you reside. You are not caucasian or should I say, “a white woman”, don’t you realize that if black people were not in this country, more than likely you wouldn’t be as accepted by the powers that be, you don’t know how it feels to be directly affected as well as infected with the virus of racism, you may not be familiar with the term or the experience of “white supremacy”, don’t you realize that the only reason they have you on their broadcast is because of the critcism you have of President Barack Obama, wake up and smell the coffee, or maybe you are aware of it and don’t mind being their little lap dog but whatever the case, I find you to be very offensive and I hope that you would consider what you’re doing and put an end to it because whether you know it or not you’re also in a lesser class or considered to be lower class in the eyes of the white supremist that own an run that station.

Thank you very much

From Judith Fleming…

Only a Republican would consider money for education as “pork” ! Successful blacks like you are able to leave the “hood” and you never look back and give a helping hand. Shame on you.

From “Infinit” (language warning)…

Hey you dumb c*nt!! I just read your article where you were bashing the lady in Fort Myers and that just blew me away. I usually don’t get offended by retards such as yourself but this was an exception. You see, Henrietta is the face of America right now and if you can’t identify with that maybe you don’t belong in this country. I know your off in some other reality within yourself but you really should reconsider the real reality here in America.

I know most people don’t understand that it is your job to take the unpopular opinion to get ratings so when you are all alone with no one around then maybe you will be able to understand Henrietta’s real problem.

I know this is a long shot to try and reach out to someone like yourself but it was worth a try.

Please come back to the real world we could use you.

From “funnyalex04″ (language warning)…

You are so ruthless you know that. First with SCHIP and now you attack my hometown in your stupid little column and that innocent woman who is homeless. Let’s not forget you are a rich elite and selfish bitch. Obama wanted to help the woman, he did that in Chicago and it’s better than taking a job on Wall Street with the rest of the crooks. By the way, seeing that he is The Messiah isn’t such a bad thing. At least he gives a damn about the people. What good have you done for your country besides bashing the ones like Obama who want to be there for the people. And here’s a really big question, would you be mad if John McCain had done this in Ft. Myers? I’m really beginning to think you are a racist. Give me 2 reasons to think you aren’t.

Your bigoted comments make me wish that your jaw gets fucked up more than your hero Ann Coulter’s did. And it shouldn’t be a surprise that she caused more problems once she started talking again. I can’t believe she would even have to explain. She plead her case, Obama wanted to help her. But once again you go ahead and bash her. I’d like to see you walk a week in her shoes as a homeless person. You wouldn’t survive. You pampered little bitch.

Oh and great news, The Senate has passed The Stimlus Bill. I know you are crying a river over that. Oh wait I forgot, you are rich and you don’t want to help the people. You wanna hold on to your bacon. I bet you’ve never had financial trouble or been unemployed your whole life.

I love my hometown even though I have only lived here a few months. I’m still trying to find my way as many people are. But just because you are successful and don’t agree with what Obama is doing, don’t be a hyprocritical bigotted cunt and judge what he is doing which is helping Americans who really need the help because you didn’t get your away with Old Man McCain and Cruella De Ville. If you had it your way we would do nothing.

They don’t realize that voting for Barack Obama just because he has black skin is in fact racism. According to the left you must always mention a persons skin color in every mention or encounter with them. They think that is non-racist. Most conservatives including myself see people as equal under gods eyes and deserving to be treated as equals not based on their skin color. Liberals feel it is absolutely necessary to always see others as equal only after the color of their skin is taken into account. They are the most racist people on the planet.

And yes straight machine code was a pain – no way you could memorize the all the instruction address set, and keeping track of the stack pointer, etc… I dabbled on a Mostek 6502 on my Ohio Scientific SuperBoard and I guess maybe it helped me a little for when I started programming TI PLC-5′s a few years later. Yea. This is important stuff. In the early days of Autocad, if you asked the program to find the endpoint of a circle, your computer would burst into flames and all power would go out for a ten mile radius. (Maybe, I exagerate, but your computer would seize up and only a hard re-boot would suffice.)

I guess if you like insipidly sweet/bad wine, German and Virginian will do.

Spanish is great, but a little rustic for most tastes. Chilean is getting better and better and is a great value, but I can’t get past the slightly herbal undertones of their reds. Argentinian is pretty much a one trick (malbec) pony. Though I did have a amazing $20 chard form there once. I will confess to never having tried Georgian (either the state or former Soviet state).

French wine is actually a place where you can find not only the best wines in the world, but also really good value.

When I was in high school we used an InterData 7/16 and stored our programs on paper tape. The tape punches/readers were attached to a teletype device that had a keyboard and a printer. There was no CRT. All input and output was typed in or out on this huge roll of paper.

If you were lucky, your teletype was assigned 2K to 4K of RAM. We had some keypunch machines where we wrote COBOL and Fortran programs but these were sent out to another data center to be run. You could get two runs in a week if you were good. Debugging was really difficult when you had to wait 2 or 3 days to get your last test back.

Silly man. Bordeaux is a REGION which makes reds and whites that are a blend of different, preapproved grapes, one of which is Merlot (for the reds anyway), which is a VARIETAL. So-called “right bank” Bordeaux are merlot based while left-bank Bordeaux focus more on Cabernet Sauvignon.

Jeez…what private prep school did YOU go to?

On the important line of commentary here, the computers, I didn’t really program except for the mandatory class in college before I changed majors out of engineering (I’ve played with FROTRAN and HP’s mainframe version of BASIC). PASCAL was what the real computer programmers were learning.

I did use the teletype input for computers using a demo program at the Boston Museum of Science in an un-named year–also punch cards. My first home computer was one that a friend dumped on me after he had gone on to the Commodore 64–he gave me TI-99/4A with its (to quote the owner’s manual) “massive 16k of memory” and a di-pole antenna wire interface into my TV set. I also played on a TRS-80 (don’t know which version), and the Apple II. My first DOS was DR-DOS for a 286 no-name machine.

    10 A=1
    20 A=A+1
    30 Print A,
    40 Goto 20
I hit “run” and went shopping. About a half an hour later one of the Radio Shack employees chased us down because they needed me to end my program. It seems they couldn’t do anything with the computer as long as my program was running.
For a long time after that we made a lot of jokes about Radio Shack, although it seemed that nobody except those of us who were there ever got any of them.

The IRS did something similar back in the 80′s, assembler to COBOL. And then the tax returns started pouring in, and the system was too slow to process them within the required time frames. There were stories of employees shredding returns because they couldn’t get them processed. My mother was among those who didn’t get their refunds, so she finally called. IRS told her to re-submit her return. No penalties even though the re-submit was technically “late.”

Used to both key in programs (and debug them) via the toggle switches and boot from a card reader on an Interdata 70. The ‘disk catalog/directory’ was a physical sheet of paper with hex sector numbers on it for the old BOSS operating system. Fun

I hear the Interdata 8/32 is still in use after all these years in some places. There’s an emulator for it (and the 7/16′s) at simh.trailing-edge.com you can even run BSD on them. But no software for the 16-bit Interdata to be found.
