Return of the Chandra Levy case — and illegal alien sex offender Ingmar Guandique
News broke over the weekend that an arrest may be imminent in the Chandra Levy murder case. There is reportedly DNA evidence linking Levy to illegal alien sex offender Ingmar Guandique. His name should be familiar to those of you who have followed the story over the years. I first wrote about Guandique nearly seven years ago — and I’m seeing history repeat itself again with the MSM’s whitewashing of Guandique’s immigration status (just look at these search results and spot the missing word.)

“ILLEGAL ALIEN QUESTIONED IN CHANDRA LEVY CASE.”
Did you miss that headline in the news last week? Well, that’s because no one ran it.
Ingmar Guandique, a violent Salvadoran national who is serving a 10-year sentence for assaulting two female joggers in Washington’s Rock Creek Park last year, was interrogated recently as part of the investigation into the intern murder mystery. But in my review of all 115 news items archived in the Lexis-Nexis database that mention Guandique in connection with the Levy case, not a single story referred to his status as a criminal illegal alien.
The Associated Press described Guandique merely as an “immigrant;” the New York Times called him a “Washington man.” On the basic questions of where Guandique came from, how he got here, and how he managed to stay, the Washington Post-the mainstream media giant closest to the scene of Guandique’s crimes- has printed nothing at all.
Though Guandique reportedly passed lie detector tests, he remains an unofficial person of interest in the Levy case. D.C. police chief Charles Ramsey says the media is making too big a deal of Guandique. Quite the contrary. The glaring omission of Guandique’s immigration status from the mainstream media’s no-stone-unturned Levy coverage is a newsworthy act of negligence as the nation grapples with lax borders and national (in)security.
Only one media outlet, the invaluable Washington, D.C.-based newsweekly Human Events, has published the pertinent facts. Editor Terry Jeffrey reported this week that not only is Guandique an illegal alien, but also that the INS had given him a green light to work in the country legally while his application for “Temporary Protected Status (TPS)” was pending. Guandique’s TPS application was eventually denied, but not before he committed two brutal attacks in the same park where Chandra Levy’s body was found.
TPS is basically a bad-weather pass into the U.S. Whenever a natural disaster strikes, we allow thousands of foreigners to stay here-mostly from Latin America-while their homelands supposedly recover. But the INS doesn’t track down TPS beneficiaries once their status expires. Worse, INS chief James Ziglar recently remarked during a trip to the Mexican border that it would be neither “reasonable” nor “practical” to deport millions of illegal aliens who have snuck across the borders, violated their visas, or overstayed on TPS. How many future Guandiques (or Attas or Almihdhars) are among them? Ziglar doesn’t seem to care. He’s too busy nullifying the immigration laws he’s supposed to enforce.
The public deserves informed analysis of whether fraud-ridden immigration programs such as Temporary Protected Status and other various forms of amnesty have come at the expense of our public safety and the national interest. But how can the question be answered if the press never asks?
Instead of hard-nosed analysis, observed author William McGowan at a forum on immigration and media coverage hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, D.C., last week, journalists maintain an “overly romantic” view of the issue. McGowan’s penetrating new book, “Coloring The News,” documents how political correctness has corrupted coverage of myriad policy issues, including immigration. He noted superficial reporting of airport security and visa screening issues in the pro-illegal alien New York Times before September 11, sympathetic stories on providing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, and the flippant title of a bleeding-heart Times magazine cover piece a few years back: “What Immigration Crisis?”
Another panel member and veteran immigration analyst, Lodi (Calif.) News-Sentinel columnist Joe Guzzardi, reported on the results of a 1,500-article review he conducted for NumbersUSA.com, a grass-roots reform group, to gauge fairness and balance of immigration coverage. “Very few stories met the reporters’ definition of fair and balanced,” he said. Most news stories are frontloaded with quotes from illegal immigration and open borders advocates, while opposing views are buried and marginalized.
Indeed, most editors still can’t even bring themselves to use the term “illegal,” preferring the flagrantly biased euphemism, “undocumented.”
Questions about the adequacy of immigration news coverage, as the Center for Immigration Studies noted, are longer academic. It’s “a matter of life and death.” When will the media take off the rose-colored blinders and start reporting the true costs of our continuing, criminal-friendly immigration policies?

“illegal” or “undocumented”…makes no difference to me. The MSM plays politics while women suffer, and one dies. This is one sick man, who, unfortunately, is probably finding a better life in prison than he had on the outside. The taxpayer, already groaning under the “stimulus act”, has to support him for years. You can’t deport him. He’ll be back across the border, terrorizing more people, before the paperwork is done.

There is no greater insult to the hard working and law abiding immigrant coming to the US for all the “right” reasons than to be confused (practically, or even rhetorically) with illegal aliens. These are two distinct groups of people with two distinctly different motivations about being in the US.
Error of words and/or thinking: most “undocumented” people in the US indeed DO have documentation or are ‘documented’ in some sense – either through forgery, ID theft or other abuse.

America can pick and choose which persons it accepts from the Third World (well, at least officially – that is, if laws were actually enforced). I’d like to suggest that this is one (Guandique) that does not need to be here. …America deserves better.
The government still ignoring certain laws, it picks and chooses which ones it wants to follow. The hollow excuse that there are too many illegals here, we can’t enforce this law now drives me crazy. I want to see what they say when there are 12 million or more Americans who have chosen to ignore tax law. Will they say, there are too many to enforce this law so we better just give them amnesty?
Yes, just like, for example, deserters doing the Vietnam war. Amnesty was given. If enough people say “enough” and break the “law”, the government will change its tune.

Of course a guy like him is going to come to the U.S. Compared to his current situation what do you think would have happened to him if he was arrested in his home country?
Back home the only people who do not think he is a dirt bag and should take a 9mm behind the ear are his fellow criminals. In this country 40% of the population assumes he is a victim upon arrival. He can receive aid and get sanctuary in a church.

When I heard this reported over the weekend, I wondered if he was here legally. But none of the reports said anything about his status. Not even FOX! I am a bit surprised at FOX. I was thinking that they were one outlet that actually reported these truths. Very disappointing. I think it should be a matter of correct reporting to clarify whether an immigrant is here legally or illegally when he/she commits a crime. That is very important to the whole story. It is frightening to think that decent, honest, hard-working people are probably outnumbered by the illegals and the deadbeats in this country!
Eight years later, what tangible, physical evidence will they be able to produce in court?
At this point, even witness testimony would be more or less worthless: There’s no way in Hades that anyone would be able to remember the dates with any precision or certainty [maybe not even Guandique, even if he were guilty - he looks like his IQ is so low that he might not even be able to fully comprehend concepts such as "eight years" or "May 1, 2001"].
Unless the police were just phenomenally lucky [like maybe somebody had had the foresight to save the evidence from the other two assaults, so that they were able to re-test that evidence and then they got a one-in-a-million hit on Chandra Levy's DNA], it’s not easy to see what they’ll be able to produce in a court of law which would leave a reasonable juror feeling comfortable with the idea of “beyond a reasonable doubt”.
And that doesn’t even begin to address the problems with the demographics of a potential DC jury pool & the manifestly unreasonable jurors which might emerge from that cesspool [can you say "OJ"?].
When:

The reason Gary Condit was singled out and railroaded was he was the only member of the House to vote NO on railroading James Traficant out of Congress and into prison. Read Traficant’s one minute speeches in context where we are today. Then imagine being the only member of the House with the balls to stand up for Traficant (who was/is innocent) and know beyond any shadow of a doubt that Levy’s murder and subsequent media necklacing of Condit was the sternest kind of warning to other members of the House to play ball or suffer.
Condit is the good guy in this.
These democratic voters will be needed to shape this country! You can count on amnesty from the crew in Washington.
I used to live in the south central section of Los Angeles. When I went to my polling station, every volunteer spoke Spanish, one spoke English. Thought you had to be a citizen to vote, and speak English to be a citizen, but I digress. There was no ID check, and they would let you pick your name from the voter registration rolls. Just turned their books around to you, let you look for your name. Anyone could have voted. Anyone.

There is a solution to this problem, but not enough people willing to take action. There needs to be armed guards on our borders that actually stop the influx. And you can read whatever you want into that statement. It just needs to be done. and the 12 million need to be arrested and deported. We are in a crisis here with illegals. They are a big part of our economic crisis in the housing market, schools, hospitals and whatever else you can think of. It is time for them to be gone.

My local news media carried an AP syndicated story on this and they referred to the perp as “an immigrant”.(Nothing could be further from the truth, of course. He is an illegal alien). Give credit to a brave but reliable pair in the national TV media for being rock solid on the subject: Lou Dobbs and also Glenn Beck. Dobbs usually has at least one story regarding illegal immigration/visa fraud/border violence/etc. every program and has been hammering the subject for several years now. Glenn covers it almost as much, but I think Lou was the lone voice in spearheading the issue early on in the national media. The same also applies to MM for being in the discussion objectively for a long time as well.
You can bet Dobbs will mention the perp’s status/situation on his program today – count on it.

I agree with most of what you are saying about O’Reilly. I find myself changing channels when he starts yelling at his guests and constantly interrupting them. He’s getting worse. He already lost Michelle, and I bet he will soon lose Dennis Miller and some others. He can keep Geraldo, Barney Frank, Al Sharpton and the ilk.

For those who have not read it, it starts when Jack Ryan is sworn in as President, because an airplane took out virtually the entire Senate and House. Hey, a gal can dream, can’t she?!
