Tea Party USA Watch: Taxpayers coming together

(Photoshop credit: Leo Alberti)
Tons of groups and individuals are stepping up to the plate in the wake of last week’s anti-stimulus/anti-entitlement protests and the call for a nationwide Tea Party.
PJTV’s clearinghouse for protests is here.
The New American Tea Party page from “a coalition of citizens and organizations concerned about the recent trend of fiscal recklessness in government…dedicated to the Washington, D.C. effort specifically sponsored by the American Spectator, the Heartland Institute, Americans for Tax Reform, the National Taxpayers Union, Americans for Prosperity, and the Young Conservatives Coalition” is here.
The #TCOT folks have a site here and #dontgo has a list of links to official Facebook Event (and some non-Facebook) pages for each confirmed Chicago Tea Party.
Glenn Reynolds has good round-ups of the Overland Park, KS protest over the weekend organized by mm.com commenter Huskergirl Amanda Grosserode (congrats on a fabulous turnout!) and here’s some advice from a media producer. Yes, it’s good to be prepared — but I would caution against taking too much advice from the “professionals.” It’s the grass-roots nature of these events that make them so compelling. Too much “professional” advice will turn them into…mealy-mouthed GOP Beltway press conferences.
From reader George S., this is my favorite Overland Park KS protest pic:

And my second fave:

Good blog report from Kansas Meadowlark here.
And more after-action reports and pics from talk show host Darla Jaye.
A nice pic of Amanda:

There will be another protest in Kansas City, Mo. next Saturday 2/28 with a march to Sen. Claire McCaskill’s office.
If you can’t find an event listed at one of the many sites above, start your own.
One person can make a difference.

Get your “Tea Party” swag. Business is booming. At least Obama stimulated something…

Seattle is on for a Tea Party! It will be Friday around noon time, downtown. We are trying to get Westlake Park again. I will post with more details soon. Bring it!!!
Awesome. You are a true pioneer woman, libertybelle.
My question – is anyone paying attention? I haven’t even seen anything of these events on Fox.
Yes.
Looks like I’ll be taking a road trip to Houston Thursday night.
I haven’t been this fired up in YEARS!!
I see it’s now okay to use our innocent pets as political props.
Yes, chap, it is. That’s why they are called pets. I’m waiting for someone with a pet monkey to show up at one of these tea parties!! Anyone know whatever happened to bubbles?
Where’s PETA when you need them?
Sorry gotta run, my steak’s ready!
I’m love’n every minute of this.
I kept asking myself why all the haste to get a stimulus package. Today, the British PM solved the problem when he stated, the world needs a stimulus package.
Answer: The politicians are running scared. They have sunk the economy into a pit and do not have any idea how to bail it out. They in a effort to save their own selves, feel they must do something. So we, the taxed, get a worthless stimulus package from a bunch of washed out has beens.
I’ve heard Rush mention “the Revolution” and these protests quite a bit. So, at least ten million or so people are hearing about it. Not a bad start!
My weimaraner says woof!
McCaskill?! She’ll bring a knife & fork if you take a steaming pile of ‘stimulus’ to her.
The Republican Party should be helping to organize a Tea Party at the local offices of every Senator or Congressman who voted for the “Swindulus” plan.
The GOP should already have networks and e-mail lists in place in every congressional district.
It is time to e-mail or call the National, State and Local GOP leaders to find out what they are doing help with the Tea Parties.
oh, and the dog is much more intelligent than mccaskill, if you wanna discuss ‘props’.
Another thought on taking a pet with you to one of these rallys, I will bet that not only is the site of the rally not a disaster area after the rally with trash scattered everywhere for someone else to clean up, but any “leavings” by the pets is also cleaned up.
Another striking difference between a conservative and lib rally.
Hey, at least this dog didn’t get dropped on his head like some liberal protester did to her own child…
I see
white peoplecowardsProtesting is gonna increase everywhere – and dont be surprised when it hits Kalifornia!
Meantime, we got turbo-tax-tim ‘leaning’ on the TARP infested banks with ‘demands’ for financing a 40 billion dollar auto-bailout!
This is EXACTLY why PEOPLE are AGAINST NATIONALIZING the banks!
A NATIONALIZED BANK IS NOTHING BUT A PIT OF POLITICAL CORRUPTION!
PERIOD!!
Of course, corruption like this will lead to more protests!
In fact, Obama spending policies are leading the Chineese to protest as well! Thats why Obama is ‘circling the I care about the budget’ wagons today!
and the Swedes.
My three dogs hate Obama, too!
Errah, thank you Barak! The Dow just closed another 250 pts in the hole. I going to buy a pup tent so I have a place to retire to in a couple of years. Hopefully the seniors rates stay low at the state park down the street.
I am reminded of the song by the Jefferson Airplane song from the album Volunteers of America. It was about REVOLUTION! It is nearly time to throw the tyrant out.
I’ll bet for a few Beggin Strips or Snausages, they could be convinced to support Kucinich.
Actually, I’d suggest the dog would make a better representative. No more voting for horrible bills. Much cheaper than a Congressional paycheck and staff. And, man’s best friend, instead of a parasite on taxpayers.
Probably not, but then again, the middle dog would likely sell his soul to the devil for a shot at an unguarded piece of cake.
My dogs are smarter than that. Although I do suspect Kucinich would get his hands mauled if they ever met him in person. The smell of handling that much pork…
Did anyone notice Obama said that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his FIRST term? Campaigning already, eh, Obama? The seat in the Oval Office isn’t even warm yet. I suspect a movement to thwart the 22nd amendment. Wouldn’t you just love to run, like Chavez? Run for life term in 2012? Wouldn’t surprise me, Obama. There are many “useful idiots” out there still.
See ya’ there.
Collie, do you think that we’ll get any press coverage this time?
My collie says:
For Facebook organizers and attendees:
To improve your marketing and exposure, what I have done is click on ‘conservative’ under political views on my ‘info’ page (if you don’t have this listed, go ahead and list it now!). This gives me a list, by my ‘local network’ of conservatives in my area. Then I click on ‘send message’ and copy and paste my invite to as many people as I can.
I haven’t found another way yet to filter a search to target my audience, but this way is working just fine. Just an FYI.
My SMIA friends and I will be organizing one in San Antonio as soon as I get home from taking care of my elderly mom in IA.
The only thing that worries me is that some nut job is going to show up with a gun and provoke an incident, which will bring the media in screaming to take away our guns. Problem is; it’ll be someone on their side provoking it!
Chap: ACORN is probably way ahead of you in providing incentives to potential voters be they canine, feline, porcine, avian, etc.
Keep it grassroots, it is much more meaningful this way. The power needs to be in the hands of everyday, ordinary Americans who don’t have a polical future at stake. It means more for us to state an opinion than for them to state that same opinion!
or primate
DagneyT:
I did halfway start this Facebook Tea Party for San Antonio. Let me know if you would like to co-chair it.
Michelle;
Clearwater/Tampa Feb. 27th, 3-6pm at @ Gulf to Bay Road @ US 19.
Please bring a sign.
Also protesting Charlie Crist.
acts412@tampabay.rr.com
Just heard the bi-partison lovefest with ‘Bambi at the helm on Fox/Cavuto. Anyone besides me hear the nutcase that noted because of so many-more-poor people that we’d need to address more incentives for them? I was cooking so may have misunderstood. If I heard right, she needs to think about an entire nation that’s going to need a walloping incentive – or better yet, how about we simply cannot afford any more incentives or bailouts. Period. Stop trying to tax and take everything that those of us that work/have worked/ or will work from us. We’d be out of this mess in less than a year if we could count on our wallets being left unpicked. I’m not spending because I don’t trust that in this climate I can part with a dime.
We so need a logo.
But, but, but …. I appreciate and applaud these folks for doing what they are doing. But for all their hard work and time, I just see that when the time comes to vote the clowns who pushed this “stimulus” package through out of office, we’ll experience another round of “Murtha Mania” or “Jefferson Apathy.”
These people will never get what’s coming to them. Yes, Jefferson got voted out FINALLY, but he’s still appealing and the guy who beat him has the “Ministers” in New Orleans calling for his impeachment!!!
And Murtha is still stinkin’ up the DC area with his rotten pork. He’ll die in office before he gets voted out.
How many more like these pathetic specimens are in office around the country seemingly immune to getting tossed out like they deserve?
It just ain’t fair…
How’s this for a start:

Just a little something I made.
I’m no graphic artist, but it’s simple and gets the point across.
Libertybelle
May I suggest that you post this at the web site soundpoltics.com on the calendar? or on the public blog there
I was at the Overland Park rally. We got tons of honking support from passing traffic – and those that didn’t honk – the ones with the Obama stickers – seemed to get smaller behind the steering wheel. There’s a lot of emotion out there that needs to be turned into energy. I agree with the comments of the media professional insofar as a gifted speaker should be drafted to state forcefully that which outrages us to the cameras. People need to get fired up and angry, and most importantly, to do something!
that should have read, “a gifted speaker should be drafted to state forcefully to the cameras that which outrages us. Not to correct would have bugged me all night.
CyberCipher’s collie has me in stitches!
Goot one!
My Dachshunds are bigger than Dennie, make more sense than him most of the time, and would probably mistake him for a disfigured Pupcorn. (They’re very smart, they write most of CyberCipher’s collie’s material)
I received this email today and I think it has some really good advise.
A message to all members of OPERATION TEA PARTY 2009
Excerpt from my contact Christie at Resist who offered great feedback on preparing for Tea Parties:
“This issue is something everyone should get informed on before we have any Tea Parties. There will be huge opposition once people find out that we are conservatives and anti-Obama’–even though it’s the whole corrupt system (including foreign money) that put him there.
The signs at the TPs should NOT be about Obama, they should concentrate on NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, WHERE’S THE STIMULUS?, CONGRESS WORKS FOR US, ETC., and this will sway people in the margins who may have voted for the Demos but see that throwing money we don’t have on the problem will only make it worse.
We have to be as NON-PARTISAN as possible because if we’re gonna win this thing it’s gonna be by uniting Americans not keeping them divided–which the gov’t media complex has a vested interest in.
Which comes back to comments about how we will depend on the Media to get the word out but they may also help to clue-in the opposition. If they the media and newspapers are notified the day of the events, then the ugliness could be minimized.”-Christie @ Resist
I will be posting some examples of signs that would be effective and on message at Operation Tea Party in event tools. We also have links and Tea Party calendar on main page to find your local events or post one you have firm info on. Thanks!
Keep up the good work patriots, send your contacts here and get involved locally!

If you can’t make it to a Tea Party protest, what can you do instead?
nlebou, I think the advice is on track…advertise the negative programs and the obvious negative results that will follow…everyone knows who’s behind this pile poop…even lgm knows that much.
How does this sound for a slogan:
“No taxation without decent representation”
Here are my poster slogans thus far:
“Stimulus” Pork Bill: 50 Gazillion dollars
Mortgage Bailout Plan: 75 Billion dollars
Converting the Middle Class into a proletariat overnight: Priceless
“We’re all proletariats now”
“Incompetent” With the O being the Obama ‘O’ insignia
