Oh, where is the omni-pork in your neighborhood?
GOP Hill staffer Tom Jones of Sen. Jim DeMint’s office has compiled a terrific Google map that pinpoints all the pork in the Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) appropriations bill. There are roughly 1,500 earmarks plotted out by town.
It’s a rough draft that relies only on what the appropriators are willing to disclose. But it’s immensely helpful.
Would be great to have maps like this for all the other omni-pork spending.

Wow, I’m shocked. CA only got two. The rest seem to be focused on the east/southeast.
No, CA got a lot more than that. The map seems to have trouble given the large number of data points. If you refresh and zoom in on the LA area, you will see much, much more.

Not much in Wyoming. Oh wait, my Senators and Congresswoman voted NO on Porkulus and will probably vote not on the omnibus too (at least they should).
This is a great use of Google Maps.
I wholeheartedly agree and not just for omni-bills, but for all bills. If the President and Congress truly support transparency and web technologies, this would be a good place to start.
They’re not mutually exclusive with the way our legislature currently operates. Considering this is a spending bill, it’s fair to see where that spending will be.
Also, we have the capacity to question both policy changes and needless spending. It’s not as though opponents of CS 2.0 can only focus on one thing at a time.

The easiest “anti-gang initiative” would simply be to enforce our borders and round up illegals. Yet we have to spend all this money in order to PRETEND to be doing something about gangs.
Also, love the pork to fund a study of “climate change” impact on the Mid-Atlantic states at University of Maryland. What recession?! Obviously, if we have this type of money to waste, we are living in pretty good times.
Yep, they sure did. I noticed that the areas that got all the pork are basically all the blue counties that voted Obama. No surprise there. Don’t see too much action in the red counties.
LA area concentrated BIG time.

Why does anyone think it is appropriate to have the Federal Government pay to upgrade a single city’s Police Department radio system?
What if other cities expected equal treatment under the law?
Earmarks are insane.
And I agree that the policy changes are even worse than the earmarks.
OT here. The Senate voted to give DC a seat — 61/37. Of course, the corrupt Dem house the corrupt President will make this happen.
Expect a HUGE constitutional fight to the Supreme Court. Should be a no-brainer.

Just wrote Senators Cornyn and Hutchison and let them know what I think of their earmarks! Hutchison never had my vote for Gov. so no big loss when she’s gone but I am truly disappointed in Cornyn.
This is by no means all of them. There should be a whole lot more added.
My favorite part of this is $5,000 for Crime Stoppers for Bee County Tx. There are 32,000 people in Bee County TX so if they raised the $$ themselves it would only be 16 cents a person.

That map is too cool. It looks like residents of ND & SD really got the shaft, though. They get nothing from this appropriations bill, while Wyoming and Vermont (both smaller than either ND or SD) get $500K and $1M, respectively, and Alaska (smaller than SD) gets over $3.5M! Goodness, even Puerto Rico and Guam get some!
Then again, maybe ND and SD are the only states left with self-sufficient residents or conservative congressmen. (I say this knowing almost nothing of their reps.)

I was willing to give the new Obama adminstration a little time to prove themselves. But with what has happened over the past week, I am now ready to join Rush in hoping that Obama fails. That is because I can clearly see now that if Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are successful in getting everything they want, the country will fail.
And when their programs fail and bankrupt the country, liberals will claim that it was not because they destroyed the American Dream by punishing success, rewarding failure, and destroying freedom through strict government controls on every aspect of our lives. They will claim it was because they did not go far enough; they did not tax enough and spend enough to make their programs work. Does anyone doubt that will be their excuse?

Figures…Norfolk, Va. and Virginia Beach police depts. get earmarks, and the one in trouble with low pay/benefits and losing officers to other cities, Portsmouth, gets nothing.
