Open thread: C-SPAN, CPAC, Jindal Derangement Syndrome & more
You can catch me on C-SPAN tomorrow morning at 8am Eastern for about half an hour. Try to phone in if you can get through and provide some balance to the moonbat callers.
After that, I’ll be at CPAC tomorrow afternoon. PJTV’s “Washington Tea Party” panel, part of the Conservatism 2.0 conference, begins at around 2pm Eastern-ish.
Then I’ll be rushing home to make it back in time for my daughter’s horse-riding lesson.
Priorities!
***
I’ll post tons more Tea Party photos tomorrow from Seattle, Santa Monica, Tampa, Sacto, Houston, St. Louis (1,000+ turnout!), Asheville, and more. But gotta put this one up right now — our friend and photoshopper extraordinaire Tennyson Hayes will love seeing his Schumer-as-Antoinette image (first published here) supersized. Took this one at the DC Tea Party:

Investor’s Business Daily, which covered the first round of anti-porkulus protests in Seattle and Overland Park KS last week, has a good follow-up on the Tea Parties today and notes that several more protests are planned for April 15 and July 4. Stay tuned here.
***
Open thread food for thought: Left-wing blogs are knee-deep in Bobby Jindal Derangement Syndrome.
Can you believe this?
More here.
***
One more item: Toby Harnden of the UK Daily Telegraph lists the “top 10 anti-Obama conservatives.”
***
And one more thought: Folks have asked me to respond to other bloggers trashing the Tea Party movement. I can’t say it better than commenter Wendy Herman of Texas said it here (comment number 11):
When we get our act together, you’ll grace us with your presence? I don’t think so.
I was at the Houston Tea Party today. I drove 4 hours each way to attend. It was truly encouraging to see the 500 people that showed up. There was no big named speaker—there was no big budget—there wasn’t even a band, but there was plenty of enthusiasm for this truly grassroots movement and the opportunity to express our displeasure with the current administration and congressional leaders. We talked, exchanged business cards and plotted out future events. For you to poo-poo the hard work of the three extraordinary people (Felicia, Chealsea & Josh) that busted their backside to pull this gathering off in 6 days is repulsive.
Your elitism and snobbish attitude is not welcome at our party, sir. Let me assure you that when we do have money and are better organized, we will have no need for the likes of you.

Might need to remind America that Obama is already moving Islamic terrorists into our Court systems
Obama is all for Acorn and Al Qaeda’s rights if you judge him by his priorities.
They loved McCain and HATE Palin and Jindal! What does that tell you?
William Amos- thanks for the link. Works right in with Barry’s 57 States and all those lovely foot baths in schools and airports. If I was a crude libtard, I’d p!$$ in one. We are going to be even more diligent watching and opposing the rights given to these dirt bags.
Add this
Obama Administration defends use of unwarrented Wiretaps on Islamic militants.
Bush was right again !
When the liberal wonks see someone who can redefine conservatives away from the evil white, rich guy, they will be relentless at trying to destroy them. Just like they tried with Sarah Palin. I am impressed with both of them, but they will continue to be ‘vetted’ unlike anything Obama ever faced.
I LOV|E that in poster size!
Considering the number of right-wing bloggers, commenters, and pundits that suffer from Jindal Derangement Syndrome, Palin Derangement Syndrome, and now, Joe-The-Plumber Derangement Syndrome, I’m hardly surprised at all that the left-wing blogs would suffer the same. They know good and well how to use divide-and-conquer tactics.
Sorry this is better link to Obama wiretap story
UPI scrubbed their story clean of the Obama reference.
Wow. I know I jumped all over Jindal for his delivery the other night, but it looks like the media’s strategy is just to viciously attack any Republican who looks like a threat. Wow. We really are living in a Marxist state now.
I think I’ll lay of Jindal. I still support him, I just want him to be more natural when he speaks.
Yep. You eat your own. That’s why I’m quite certain neither Palin or Jindal will be your nominee.
Check that. I think Jindal is smarter and smoother than what he showed in The Response. It was just a terrible speech with equally bad delivery. I’ve seen him do better, and I’m sure he’ll learn from it. That won’t stop the republican intellectual elites from trying to keep him down.
I’ve put rallies together several times in the DC area and I can tell you that the speed and organization of these rallies was nothing short of amazing. Bravo Zulu to everyone.
MM, it was great seeing you again.
June 13…;)
Actually the left’s derangement syndrome response has become the new gauge for success. The more insanity they spew, the more on target we must be.
“You eat your own.”
Some of the most recent cannibalized RINO’s deserved to be eaten alive.
I live in a very small town, but am going to try to organize something here too.
And I won’t let the environazis tell me when and where I can dump tea!
Hey Michelle – I’m a lifetime horse person. I hope your daughter will enjoy riding as much as I have over the years. My horse is much like a dog with its leash. She sees the bridle and I can’t get it on her fast enough. She loves getting out on trails! It’s more like two pals going for an adventure.
I was surprised to see Tancredo come out so strongly against Jindal’s speech.
Today was one of many proud moments for grass root conservatives. The toil of many paid off in deep felt satisfaction.
I’m not so sure of the use of the word “rapidly” but the word leader certainly applies! Clear thinkers who can express themselves are not common these days. Those who emerge from the mist are easily recognized, like our Michelle.
As for the poo-pooers at Hot Air and others, while, Wendy covers that…
To hell with the blue blood country club republicans. Take Arlen Specter, Juan McCain and the others and get the heck out of the way, our country is in pearl.
It’s Republican Derangement Syndrome. Anyone who looks like he/she might emerge as a prominent leader is instantly trashed by the left. After their victory with Obama, they are shameless in their partisanship and will attack every Republican that is put forth.
Congratulations, Michelle Malkin, for making the top 10 conservatives list…you go girl!
And it’s not just the MSM that’s after Jindal. Take a look at Charles Johnson’s take on Jindal over at Little Green Footballs!
Thanks Zorro. I have blogged repeatedly about the “us and them” mentality of the old guard Republicans. Houston’s Tea Party had many different colored faces and dialects. It was awesome! Best part–500 people singing National Anthem w/o music or leader. Beautiful.
Wendy Herman (aka TxSkirt)
Just clicked to “follow” you at Twitter, I’m zorro5663 over there.
Re: Jindal Derangement Syndrome…I grew up in Metairie Louisiana, Jefferson Paris and Harry Lee was my sheriff…and a Democrat too. He kicked ass and took names. I miss him.
Being of Lebanese Christian descent, I can relate to the “diverse” choir!
Just saw the Mitt Romney speech on CSPAN, I wasn’t really taken by the speech (John Caldara did a better job at the Denver Tea Party) but I was heartened by the fact that the audience looked to be very young! It looked like 75% were under 25.
There’s hope!
Possibly… (eyeing the teeth marks on Hillary and trying not to snicker)
But WE can figure out Turbotax!!!
Not sure if you caught this:

Here is the big slip:
Hmmm, the Attorney General thinks gun control will help Mexico from receiving arms from America. Listen Holder, I will spell this out very slowly and carefully…positive border control (including a fence) will slow illegal activity from crossing the border in either direction. Now go out and enforce the laws that are on the books, you pompous weasel.
p.s. I apologize to pompous weasels everywhere for any offense caused.
Yeah, still waiting for my M4…
Holder is an idiot. And unAmerican
Is there LSD in the Kool-Aid? Sometimes I think I’m losing my mind.
First my unemployed brother tells me that there’s no risk of hyperinflation from recklessly printing money because “everybody’s hurting” and “all currencies are down” due to the global meltdown. Does anyone here surf DailyKos for a laugh? Is this a common belief among the moonbats?
Then my solidly conservative friend told me that she heard “Obama was going to pay for health care” for the unemployed. I corrected her that WE were going to pay for it, and she could not hear it. People – almost all people – are so hyped by the media to fervently believe in Obama the Savior that facts cannot get through.
Or maybe there’s a stupidity virus going around?!
From the comments on the top ten conservatives opposing Obama. Funny, I had thought California was doing the opposite of Reaganism all this time.
Why do corporations only let SHAREHOLDERS vote and not “customers”, employees, or town residents?
Those with the INVESTED interest only should get the say.
SAME for USA – only the taxpayer should get a say. I dare congress to put a little pie graph on our taxes and let “We the People” decide where our tax dollars go. All they would have to do is add up how many of their tax dollars people wanted to go to defense, how many of their tax dollars they wanted to go octomom and how many they wanted to go to green golf carts. Of course, everything (or nothing) then is an earmark or special interest. (I don’t know how it’d come out, but I’m quite certain that it would be far different than what congress comes up with now. Further, I’m pretty sure the useful things would get funded well and the not so useful would not get much funding.)
Michelle’s on C-SPAN now, slamming an alleged “independent” caller.
Fatal Conceit. Excellent point.
UN-Fairness Doctrine! Boom!
Michelle,
You were awesome on C-SPAN. Thank you for getting the word out about the tea parties. All of your answers were spot-on. I know you do mostly reporting and analysis of current events but I personally would like to see you do interviews of the leading “Conservative Party” contenders, ie.; Governor Jindal, Mr. Steele, Governor Palin and others and ask the hard-hitting questions that only you seem to be able to ask. Also the Lib leaders as well and get them on record with their liberal ideas.
Thank you for all you do for us and for being our voice when we are unable to speak. I hope you are able to get home in time to your daughter’s horse-riding lesson. Bundle up its going be to wet and cold out there today.
Blessings to you and your Family.
Not one mention of why we can “withdraw” combat troops from Iraq by August of 2010. We won the insurgency. Compare what you read about Iraq today with 6 months, 1 year, 18 months and 2 years ago. Remember ABC’s Charlie Gibson’s comment there was noting to report from Iraq, because nothing bad was happening?
Why no mention of it by the MSM, only focuses on Obama’s “decision?” Did Obama acknowledge what that had accomplished to the Marines he spoke to? NOT A WORD. The troop’s accomplishments and sacrifice are of no importance. All attention is on the wisdom of the Dear Leader.
Welcome back to the Vietnam era in terms of how the troop are treated. Been there seen that; thought out country had learned its lesson. I was wrong.
Wendy’s comment is actually number 13.
Rick Moran is a Moron.
Great news for Barry O’s energy conservation program!
Palin and Jindal scare the hell out of libs and with good reason. These two can make sense.

It was truly wonderful to see how President Obama (PBUH) single handedly fixed all the evil Bush actions in Iraq. All it took was a lot of threats to defund (called “supporting”) the troops over his years in the U.S. Senate–and 30 days of mellifluous rhetoric from on high. Generals Washington, Grant, Sherman, Eisenhower, and Patton are probably doing “high fives” in heaven as they look down and contemplate the fruits of the O’bummer’s political and military wisdom!

FLYOVERMAN #34 gets it right again. I just can’t wait to see how well the new U.S.S.A. “SMART POWER” diplomacy and the $900 million bribe to HAMAS will fix up things in Gaza. And I think the Iranian mullahs must be shaking in their boots (with laughter–not fear) to see this clown doing his JIMMY CARTER II rerun.

My stars, some crazy journalist fact-checked Jindal’s anecdote and found an inconsitency? And concludes their inquiry by saying “none of this settles the question definitively?” When will the insanity stop?
My wife and I went to the Denver Tea Party, and there were maybe 200 people there? Small – sure, but like Jon Caldera said in his address to us “we (conservatives) are new to this, and we will get better”. When we were walking back to our car, a young woman on her 3rd floor balcony started yelling at us, saying “universal health care” and “I’m a single mom what about me?” and “what if my son breaks his leg who will take care of him?”. My wife simply called back to her and said “I’m sure your a nice person, I’m sorry if you’re having a tough time”. BTW, I got laid off in November (what Rush Limbaugh calls the first round of Obama layoffs), but I’m actively interviewing, and managing to make my mortgage payments anyway.
TPM is right. What Jindal said is not what happened. But the real story of Jindal’s speech is that he debased himself to appeal to the “base” of the Republican party.
The base is the cancer that’s killing the Republican party. It takes seemingly honorable and sensible Republican politicians and turns them into people who inspire X-Derangement Syndrome. George Bush was a better, more moderate, more competent, Governor of Texas than he was a President. Romney was elected Governor of Massachusetts and did a reasonable job there. McCain the Senator in 2006 never would have allied himself with good for nothing Sarah Palin. All of them went from high approval ratings to skirting with single digits.
Jindal is the latest casualty. A week ago he was widely respected among liberals and conservatives for reducing corruption in Louisiana. Now he tries to sound like Joe Plumber and becomes another single digit has been.
Sun Tzu said, “If you know yourself and you know our enemy, in a hundred battles you will be victorious. If you know only yourself you your enemy your odds in battle are equal. If you know neither yourself nor your enemy you will be in peril every battle.”
When I remember these words and read lgm’s post, as a conseervative , I can look to the future with confidence.
The TPM story makes it clear that Jindal was out of the country on the day Katrina hit, and was out of town for two days after that. The soonest he could have met Lee is 3 days after Katrina. But Lee clearly says “the day after”, which means that Lee is mis-remembering. Y’all don’t normally have trouble believing a Democrat like Lee could mis-remember.
Interesting how Jindal and Palin can be attacked and debased on every conceivable thing, but the issues.
Speaks volumes and reveals much.
Another thing Barry is planning for a money saving idea is to get rid of the weapons we aren’t using. That’s a great idea, Einstein. We aren’t using them because they are there in case we DO need to use them. So, when we need them, they will be gone. Duh One is sooooo smart! And cute too.
Remember when we were castigated for daring to say that his lack of qualifications was a relevant issue in the election.
The One is so not ready for prime time.
Someday Barry’s ideas will be mentioned along side Harding’s desire to raise tariffs to help Europe’s economy rebuild after WW I. (just read about that in an article highlighted on the Hotair page)
Well, prime time in Venezuela, maybe. I still think the sheer audacity of his “spend spend spend and screw anyone who objects” will come back and bite him. And it isn’t just him, as we all know. It is the entire liberal administration, most of all Pelosi and Reid who lead the Congress and are really the ones responsible for the bill-writing and passage. And we musn’t forget the three stooges, Sphincter, Collins and Snowe!!
Off topic comment: The HotAir site has a post entitled “The great Star Trek debate”. I can’t post there…so I’m bringing it here. Sorry!
In the Star Trek universe you may live as a citizen of the Federation without the need for money. You can eat replicated food, wear replicated clothes, decorate with replicated Pier One knock-offs. But if you actually want to DO anything or have anything real, you need money. If you want to experience the real world (on Earth or elsewhere), if you want real food, or real clothes, or real anything, you need money.
Replicated = Today’s welfare
Real = Anything you’ve worked for, created, earned for yourself.
I really like Star Trek, but for myself I’ll take “real” over “replicated” every time. I can take care of myself, so I should take care of myself and my family. The Right isn’t against helping people who need it, it’s against bailing out the irresponsible and having the gov’t take away the incentive to BE responsible.
Well said! I’m with you!
Since this is an open thread, I want to add the following to the discussion…
The U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April (’08) that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn’t been updated since ‘95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota; western South Dakota; and extreme> eastern Montana …… Check THIS out: The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska ‘S Prudhoe Bay, and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503billion barrels.. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable… At $107 a barrel, we’re looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion. ‘When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.’ says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature’s financial analyst. ‘This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years.’ reports, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It’s a formation known as the Williston Basin, but is more commonly referred to as the ‘Bakken.’ And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada. For years, U. S. Oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the ‘Big Oil’ companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken’s massive reserves…. And we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL! That’s enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight.
…And if THAT didn’t throw you on the floor, then this next one should – because it’s from TWO YEARS AGO! U.. S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World! Stansberry Report Online – 4/20/2006 Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world.. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this> mother load of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore drilling? They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth.
Here are the official estimates: –
8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia –
18-times as much oil as Iraq –
21-times as much oil as Kuwait –
22-times as much oil as Iran –
500-times as much oil as Yemen –
And it’s all right here in the Western United States. HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people dictate our lives and our economy….WHY? James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we’ve got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped. That’s more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post. Don’t think ‘OPEC’ will drop its price – even with this find? Think again! It’s all about the competitive marketplace, – it has to. Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists? Got your attention/ire up yet? Hope so! Now, while you’re thinking about it …. And hopefully P.O’d, do this:
Pass this along. If you don’t take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you want to complain about gas prices.. Because by doing NOTHING, you’ve forfeited your right to complain.——– Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to every one in your address book. By the way…this is all true. Check it out at the link below!!! GOOGLE it or follow this link. It will blow your mind. Http://WWW.usgs.gov/newsroom/article.asp?ID=1911 http://WWW.usgs.gov/newsroom/article.asp?ID=1911
I know that there is NO hope with this administration. But could this be a big political agenda for the Republicans in 2010 and 2012? We have a really good chance at appealing to the masses with the drilling issue. It would fix our economy and stick it to the arabs! It also could save this country.
Sorry, I may be wrong about Jindal but I am very underwhelmed. Although I can identify with his background and stated views, I just can’t grasp how exactly he rose to prominence so quickly on the merits of his personality and eloquence. He just looks like the latest Bush-picked, limp-wristed candidate in the mold of Charlie Crist and Tim Pawlenty.
Like I said, I may be wrong but something just doesn’t ring true for me with Jindal. Palin can rally a crowd to their feet with her fiery personality and quick wit. I haven’t seen anything even close to that from Jindal.
Maybe we shouldn’t be looking for men with gonads and fire in their belly. The GOP just doesn’t have any. Maybe we should be looking for candidates with ovaries. I prefer femininity in that form anyway.
Holy cow!!! I’m spreading the news. Thanks.
PS – I was going to jokingly write, “But what will happen to the poor Arabs???”. But I’ve been misunderstood here a few times and I didn’t want to risk it about this!
I tend to agree with you on this point. Bobby Jindal has a great record as Governor of LA. He has a lot of conservative values. And he is a great conservative role model. But POTUS? Not convinced of that. I am still praying for a Ronald Reagen-type to show up and save us. There may be one out there just waiting to ride in on a white horse and rescue us!!
I understand perfectly. I have been misunderstood a few times myself!!
Happyscrapper,
The data you have on our oil reserves is very compelling. However, the only way we can convince The Left to start embarcing oil is to advance the theory of Global Calming. Human activity is causing wind velocities to diminish worldwide imperiling the planet.
All of these windfarms and solar panels along with human structures is providing a drag on the earth’s winds. I should point out that since there is scientific consensus on this theory that no debate is really appropriate.
With calming winds migratory birds no longer get tailwinds and are falling from exhaustion to their deaths on their migration. Bio-diversity is imperiled because windbornes seeds, pllen and spores cannot travel the distances they once did. In the future children will never be able to enjoy kite flying.
Only by living and working below ground and using energy resources from beneath the earth, like oil, will we be able to save the planet.
Logic will not sway the Left, but they will embrace Global Calming.
OBTW, if you want to read about Global Calming go to the Keepers of Odd Knowledge website at “www.kook.org.”
happyscrapper: on your figures for oil reserves, they are predicated on high prices. It’s not about how much oil there is but at what price. Most of the oil reserves in this country are low quality, dirty and embedded in shale. Very expensive to produce too. That is why we started importing oil in 1971. I wrote an extensively researched essay on this a while back called “The BIGNESS of Big Oil”. It’s not definitive but might help you understand a big point about oil that no one seems to want to grasp: it’s bigness.
http://thewayweare.blogtownhall.com/2007/12/09/the_bigness_of_big_oil.thtml
On Jindal, my mind isn’t made up because I appreciate his politics. I just need much more persuading. I’d hate to lose 2012 because Republicans were duped into picking the wrong candidate again. I expect 2010 and 2012 to be great opportunities for the GOP if they can find new leadership.
Pakistan just took control of one of the key agencies on the Afghan border they will be turning it over to the Government soon the military leader involved believes that The Government will have control of all 5 agencies by the end of the year. The last offensive by the Pakistan Military when they gained control of the key agency did kill many militants.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090228/ts_nm/us_pakistan_bajaur_2
Khan said he had no information about Zawahri’s whereabouts but his forces had killed and arrested several Arab fighters.
Officials say more than 1,500 militants were killed, along with about 100 soldiers, during the “Operation Sher Dil” launched in Bajaur in September. There has been no independent verification of that militant casualty estimate.
Hard-pressed militants led by an al Qaeda ally, Faqir Mohammad, this week declared a unilateral ceasefire in Bajaur. Khan said he rejected an offer of talks and went ahead with military operations.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090228/ts_nm/us_pakistan_bajaur_2
Very good! I will send this along to everyone in my mailbox. There are a certain number of people who will buy into it, if we present it as coming from the left.
Sounds like a lot of our oil is not worth drilling. I hadn’t heard that argument before by the conservatives when they were yelling, “drill baby, drill!” If, in fact, the oil is low grade and not worth spending the money on it, I guess that would be one thing. But don’t we have ANY that can be drilled economically? What about anwr? There must be some somewhere. Even just anwr and offshore alone could help us tremendously. But the left and environmental wackos continue to hold the rest of the country hostage. Also, we need to start building nuclear power plants before the entire grid structure in the country breaks down and we go back to rubbing two sticks together to make fire.
Happyscrapper,
I just want you to know that when I wrote that I had no injested any alochol or any hallucinagetic drugs.
Sometimes satire is the best weapon.
This story seems like good news to me. Imagine if this turns out to work well…
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,500764,00.html
Absolutely!! Just ask Chap. Humor can diffuse a lot of touchy situations and calm folks down. I used a lot of humor with my daughter when she was a teen. When we would be having an argument, one of us would stop and go into our “Saturday Night Live” skits. Worked every time. She talks about it to this day as having worked really well to bond us together. She is now 38 years old.
I hope you are right, but it could also be a front. Sorry for my cynicism, but I don’t trust muslims enough to just take their word for it.
Don’t forget to tune into FOX at 5:00 eastern time. Rush Limbaugh’s speech at the CPAC will be on. Also on CNN and maybe other stations as well.
C-span’s Washington Journal is a joke.
Most of the so-called Independent callers are Democrats, The few, and I mean very few Republican calls they let in are either Democrats or the dumbest of the dumb Republicans the screeners can choose from. Notice that the CPAC convention is on C-span 3 (who the heck has c-span 3?), while the State of the Black Union is on c-span 1.! Michelle is fortunate she didn’t have Pete Slen as a moderator, now there’s a leftie for ya!

I saw a delayed video of Michelle Malkin taking questions from liberals and conservatives via phone early this morning–CSPAN I think. The Black program host was fair and open.
***
She did a very professional job–taking notes to not lose track of some rather disjointed or complex questions. Looking good as usual.
***
I liked her careful thought and straight answers. A good job of thinking “on her feet” and coming up with good answers.
***
GOOD JOB–have you ever thought of running for political office? I would like to see her take on Vice President Joe Biden in a debate!
***
John Bibb
***
Pfft! My CAT could take Joe Biden in a debate!
I seem to have missed any and all info concerning the one in Sacto. It would be/have been worth the drive as it is only about 30-45 minutes away, depending on the traffic. If anyone hears of it, let me know.
You know, I made a comment a few days ago that was taken wrong by a few people. Allow me to clarify what I said/meant.
I have no problem with the protests. In fact, I think they are great and I am very, very happy that finally, FINALLY Republicans and Conservatives are finally using their weapons against them.
What I said was, to listen to those that refused to vote for McCain for whatever reason those that stayed home and refused to vote at all for whatever reason or WORSE, bought into the garbage that was spewing forth out of Der Fuhrer’s forked tongue infested mouth and actually voted FOR him, talk about how upset they are, how disgusted they are and listen to them complain about what is going on with Der Fuhrer and how in less than a month he was able to accomplish what the Soviet Union failed to do for over 50 years just makes me sick.
Obama is sitting in the Oval Office partly BECAUSE Republicans and Conservatives either stayed home, voted 3rd party or worse…actually voted for him. They had the chance to make sure he would not get elected and did nothing.
I WAS NOT referring to those who voted for McCain holding their nose, crossing their fingers and closing their eyes or whatever it took to cast that vote. I personally had to do all three and pray for forgiveness myself after I cast my ballot for him.
I was not saying ANYTHING bad about these protests and am looking forward to attending one as soon as I can find out when it is and hopefully will be close enough to go and yes, even bring all three of my daughters to it so they can see for themselves what it takes to save our nation from complete and total annihilation.
Anyway, it is incredibly dishonest of certain people to stand around, acting superior and indignant when they are partly responsible for what happened. As I said, it is just like allowing a convicted rapist and child molester to live right next to a school and then complain when children begin to get killed and molested.
I hope that those who stayed home or didn’t vote for the Republican when they had the chance learned their lesson…I really, really do. However, don’t sit around claiming the high ground, when you are responsible.
Again, just my opinion. If it angers you…well that’s all on you. My conscience is clear.
happyscrapper: I’m not arguing that we shouldn’t be drilling because we should, let’s begin with ANWR. We also have huge deposits of natural gas, coal, and shale. We need to be tapping into every domestic source of energy that we have and now. But once the price of oil sinks below $70, it isn’t worth it.
I get annoyed on this subject because last year, GOP know-nothings were perpetuating the lie that there is no problem if only we would drill. That is almost as bad as the global warming lie.
We have maybe 30 years to solve main problem of eliminating our dependency on oil by finding a practical alternative and/or adapting to life in a world of more expensive energy. IF we drill, go nuclear, clean up coal tech, find more practical applications for wind and solar, become more efficient (with cars especially) and so on, we can get it done. There is no easy short term solution and these lib/con arguments are deceitful and a big waste of time.
We can’t lie our way to virtue. We need to be honest among ourselves if we are going to win anything worth winning.
RetFireman: Too many bogus statements to address but I am one of those who voted for Bob Barr. And I would do it again. If the 7 million Republicans who stayed home had done the same, there would now be no claim to an Obama mandate and the Republican Party might have heard the message.
If you really think things would be better had McCain won, you are living in a drug-induced fantasy. Obama winning was a terrible thing but it is only so because the GOP allowed a Democrat to lead its ticket.
Consider this: the most obnoxious part of the Obama budget is the Cap and Trade part. It is already considered a deal killer even among Democrats. Cap and Trade was once known as the McCain-Leiberman Bill. That is just one of the many obnoxious reasons that so many of us conservatives decided enough was enough.
McCain also halted his campaign to help push the TARP bill and voted for it. He has also praised porkulus while criticizing it. Isn’t that one of the things that makes your head explode over Obama? Doesn’t it bother you to watch McCain sincerely fawning over Obama? You voted for this guy? You need to explain to me why all would be well had a “Republican” foisted this disaster on us instead of Obama.
The blame for Obama being in office lies not with conservatives like me who fight bitterly for real principles but with the empty-headed “Republican Uber Alles” crowd who fought us using the very same vile lies that leftists used in attacking us.
The GOP just suffered through two election disasters as a consequence of abandoning its conservative principles. These guys didn’t deserve to win! So they got voted it out and it took TWO disasters to get them to listen and still we are stuck with the same people in leadership positions.
Please think before you attack conservatives. It’s people like you who enabled a Democrat to be the GOP nominee in the first place. If you want to blame someone, look in the mirror.
If that angers you, I don’t care. Your vote is automatic anyway so there is no point arguing. You are going to vote for the GOP candidate even if it is Satan himself. Next time, let’s work together to get a REPUBLICAN nominated.
Now let’s move on.
RetFireman: You’re going to love this. I just turned off ABC Nightly News and who else buy Juan McAmnesty was featured on video stating that Obama “was off to an great start”! This is the guy you wanted us to vote for?
I don’t know how yet, but I know somehow evil humans are responsible for this species going extinct. Gore will probably be jetting to a press conference about it any day now.

I too would love to see that.
Watch out! The eco-boobs are after your toilet paper.
The crisis that was Katrina lasted more than one day, idiot.
I did not vote for McCain because he had an R after his name. Major influencing factors that led me to vote McCain’s ticket included that he had much better ratings than Obama with the NRA and with Citizens Against Government Waste.
If you are actually saying that there would be no difference to having McCain in the White House and that McCain would have done what Der Fuhrer has done, then you truly are one of the most absolutely uninformed and deluded people I have seen on this board.
What you are saying is that you actually believe that McCain would have pushed through and signed a “stimulus” package that tripled the spending of Bush’s ENTIRE 8 years in only 3 weeks, and it would have been filled with Socialist/Marxist programs that are throwing out the very basics of the Free Market and Capitalism amongst other atrocities.
You are telling us that it is your belief that McCain was planning on forming a “police force” of 150,000 members who will be trained, equipped and financed similarly to the military.
You are telling us that you believe that McCain would have given China the right of Eminent Domain in the United States, such as the Obama Administration has done.
You are actually telling people that you honestly believe that McCain, who is admittedly one of the worst choices the Republican Party could have made and who was not a Conservative, was nothing more than a carbon copy of Obama and that it would not have mattered and he would have done everything the exact same way.
Yeah…you are one hell of a political scholar.
I know it is Saturday night and not a school night…but maybe you should get off mom’s computer and go read a book.
My vote is automatic: the conservative gets the vote. If Zell Miller were running for president I’d have lowered myself to vote for a Democrat. However Conservative Democrats are rarer than tax payers in the Obama cabinet so I won’t have to soil my hand yanking a lever with a D on it in the near future.
We were screwed from the word go. Historically senators make the worst presidents and we had a choice between a corrupt uber liberal Chicago politician who cavorts with known terrorists with a babbling moron as a running mate, or a daffy ‘moderate’ who’d kiss a$$ when it desperately needs kicking with an articulate smart conservative running mate.
Needless to say I voted for the articulate, smart conservative running mate.
At least the two of these “choices” stand by their own beliefs, as revolting as they are.
Bob Barr? He must have inhaled a little too much medical marijuana for my tastes. He doesn’t have the huevos to stand by his own votes, so what gives anyone the idea that he’d stand by the US Constitution? Spineless = beneath contempt for me.
Al Gore where is all that hot air you promised us? It is snowing in Alabama in March.

Check out the Michelle Malkin Rockstar photos and article over on Instapundit.
Phil…if everyone who didn’t like John McCain stayed home, then the democrats would be lording it over us that Obama won by a landslide, and the Republican party is through forever. If those 7 million people who stayed home would have showed up and at least voted for Republican Senators, we wouldn’t be in this mess either!!Seriously, isn’t it better that Odumbo only won by a few percentage points? It gives us hope that we can pull it out next time. A staggering defeat would have put millions of well-meaning “on the fencers” into such a dither, they would give up entirely on the Republican party. Staying home was not cool. Nor was voting for a third party candidate who had no chance to win, but only diluted the Republican vote and made us look less successful that we probably were.
Hey lgm,
Harsh thing to say about Sarah Palin. Why do you dislike her that much, to the extent you would say she is “good for nothing”? I don’t like Obama, Biden, or Pelosi, but I’m sure I could find uses for them if I were Grand Supreme Dictator. Same for Specter, Snow, and on and on. I’d be curious as to some concrete details as to how you formed your opinion of Sarah Palin.
Yeah, and if she is “good for nothing”, how did she get to be such a successful Governor with a high approval rating? Or doesn’t that count because she is Conservative? I don’t expect an answer from lgm because it swoops and poops a lot.
Leave it to a tool like LGM to look at a smart, successful, talented, educated woman and think she is “good for nothing”. Says a lot about the types of women he exposes himself to…doesn’t it?
Are you saying lgm exposes himself to women? Ha!! No doubt.
happyscrapper said(#84):
She bought them off, literally. She imposed a windfall profits tax on Alaska oil companies and distributed the money as a kind of negative tax. But that didn’t stop McCain and Palin from railing against windfall profits taxes.
As Reagan and Bush demonstrated with budget deficits
As Gingrich and Delay showed with earmarks
As Fox demonstrates with one side reporting
You can do it and rail against it a the same time
That is one of the funniest posts I have ever seen on MM’s blogs. Really! Hahahahahaha! budget deficits?? Earmarks?? One-sided reporting??? Hahahahahaha! Sorry, I can’t stop. You are really good! You should go on the Bill Maher show or take your comedy routine to The View.
Another new sig line:
Chuck-u Schumer to mainstream America – “Let ‘em eat pork.”
Then, there is:
Liberty: All the stimulus we need.
And, of course:
In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we’ve been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. – Ronald Reagan from his first inaugural address
lgm:
Would enjoy links to both Palin imposing windfall profits tax and Palin railing against windfall profits tax.
I have absolutely no problem with Reagan railing against budget deficits, as he did try to cut government and lower taxes, I believe, and that is exactly the way to cut budget deficits. Bush was a big-government Republican so you have a slightly better case, but at least he cut taxes.
How do you feel about Obama hiking up the deficit the way he has? He’s expanded the government more than Bush did already, and is unlikely to make real tax cuts and thus to stimulate the economy and essentially expand the tax base.
I haven’t been on the scene long enough to know about what went on with Gingrich and DeLay, but remember being unsure as to what DeLay did. How do you feel about the bills coming out now that are so very infested with earmarks, and the politicians-Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and so on-promoting them and even rushing them through?
How do you feel about McCain’s record with Citizens Against Government Waste?
Would enjoy link to a report or reports from an organization you like that you feel is well-balanced. Would also enjoy link to something from Fox you feel is an example of bias.
Like Obama and racism? (See Jeremiah Wright and also the bit about the inauguration rapper.) Like Obama or Pelosi and lack of government transparency? (The fast and silent way these omnibus bills have been going through.)
Incidentally, I was looking for links to articles regarding Palin’s initial run for governor of Alaska, especially about the corruption of the previous governor or whatever was going on there, but of course everything I get is from her VP run. Anyone have a good linkable source? Thanks!
What Obama didn’t say is that he’s tripling the deficit to 1752 billion this year. It’s not hard to figure out that the numbers are misleading; triple, then cut in half. I also see that he has decided he’ll be President for a 2nd term, maybe more.
Hey Nesting Hawk…I see you decided to take on the Village idiot. If you would like, I can get you a nice, soft cushion made from the same foam they make those soft mattresses out of. I figure it would be better for you when you start banging your head against the wall trying to figure out just how anyone can possibly be as stupid and uninformed as LGM and still remember to breathe. Just remember, he is lucky it is an involuntary reaction caused by CO2…it’s the only thing that keeps him alive.
I just wish that they would finally instill the law which forces teachers to take regular tests to prove they are educated and informed enough to be teaching.
If they ever do, poor LGM will be out of a job, and there would be some 35+ students annually that would finally be getting a real education.
