    I don’t mind seeing “lesser evils” in the enemy camp tearing down a rival. Doesn’t mean you’re rallying around a stand-up guy. It’s a match on match of distasteful degrees. If Jackson or Sharpton — the race hustling slugs they are — berated Obama’s policies, it’s alright ammo for our side.     I agree with everything but the last part of your last sentence, only because it cuts a little close for comfort. I work with some hardworking African-Americans who are fans of Obama. It’s not his policies they voted for; it’s his skin color, plain and simple, and “what it represents”.     Yes. I am from metro Detroit and I do believe it. Here’s a little anecdote: A few years ago the Detroit Zoo was on the brink of bankruptcy. The suburbs (where it is actually located) offered to buy it from the city. The city refused and was willing to let it shut down rather than sell it to the suburbs.

    There is a lot of bad blood between the city and the suburbs. It might seem to have a racial tinge to it, but that’s just because the city and suburbs are so segregated.

    Also, it’s a bit disingenuous to claim that the failures of the Detroit city council points to chaos in the Democratic party. We’re in our own world here. Things have been bad for a very very long time and are unrelated to national politics. As I stated previously, I wouldn’t mind seeing the entire council replaced. They’ve brought no good to the city and have been complete failures in every sense.

    No, it is not. The antics of Conyers is an example. I have been called a bigot many times by liberals just because I believe in the free market system. When I see a person the first thing I look for is how they carry themselves and if they are professional in their public life. I look for potential in people.     My only recourse after hearing this racist rant (mostly about Oakland’s county Executive) on the radio, internet and tube was to write to the Ilitch’s who own 2 major sports teams (Red Wings. Tigers), theaters, restaurants, etc. (all in Detroit) indicating we’ve reached our limit….no more spending on anything that goes on in detroit, ever, unless a change is made down there. To date, a positive response has been received, but let’s see how it goes. Frankly, I don’t care….the hub should be moved from detroit to one of the safe, clean, less corrupt, successful suburban areas. Detroit does not deserve our support.
