Obama’s sorry cultists

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 3, 2009 10:22 AM

I’ve reminded you before of NYTimes’ columnist David Brooks’ boneheaded Ivy League ejaculations about the Obama administration.

Now, the once-enamored Kool-Aid drinker admits his cult leader is not the man he knew:

“Those of us who consider ourselves moderates are forced to confront the reality that Barack Obama is not who we thought he was.”

What an unbelievable waste of time and real estate is David Brooks. It’s profane.

Which is why Robert Stacy McCain’s expletive-filled smackdown is the only appropriate and satisfying response.

On a related note, remember the “Sorry Everybody” campaign of leftists apologizing to the world for George Bush?

Doug Powers has launched the perfect spoof on behalf of pathetic Obama supporters suffering buyers’ remorse everywhere. A sample:

I told Doug he needs to add a sorry David Brooks’ photoshop. Volunteers?

Flashback: Iowahawk’s classic Brooks’ broadside: T. Coddington Van Voorhees VII.

Update: The Brooks photoshop tournament begins.

Turns out, though, Sarah Palin was right about Chairman Zero being a big-spending socialist. Also right about him cutting off domestic energy exploration. Also right about him being anti-business. (No businessmen among his advisers, and massive increases in business taxes and regulations.) Right about him sympathizing with terrorists. ($900 million to Hamas.)

Sarah was a lot smarter than a lot of her critics about those truths.

Reminds me of that clip of Tom Brokaw and another commentator going back and forth about how they don’t know who Obama really is…etc. It was funny and very very sad all at the same time. Yeah, a lot of “buyer’s remorse” going around. This from a “journalist” who didn’t have the balls to actually investigate the man who would be President of the United States. Past associates and friends? No big deal. Not important. “Rev.” Wright’s black liberation church for 20 years? Well, everyone knows Obama didn’t hear the awful rhetoric coming from that man’s mouth. Must have been the sermons that Obama happened to miss. Birth certificate? Well, he showed us a “certified” copy. Good enough. Socialism comments? His admission that he used Saul Alinsky as his model? Oh, that was in the past. Chicago thug political machine? Obama cut his teeth on those kinds of politics, but he has changed. He isn’t like that any more. I have heard it all from these idiots. And NOW they are saying, “Barack Obama is not who we thought he was.” Oh Lord, I think I am going to be sick.

Robert McCain is right. If these so-called reporters had been doing their JOB and vetted Pres. Obama more people would have seen his record. Yes, he voted present many times but if you look at any bill he sponsored it was always far, far left of center. If you listen to any of his words you will hear what he does not say. Take a look at his career and you will see someone who began to run for President in the 80’s and did whatever he had to do to get rid of his opponents. Any time he is caught out he quickly scurries to try to correct the impression that he could have made a mistake. He is clearly in over his head and the people who voted for him could not imagine that, just because he talks a good game, that he would not be a good leader. We desperately need him to have a short learning curve or listen to those who have the experience to lead and he is doing neither. There is a reason why we generally elect governors to be president and that is experience leading. We all tried to tell people these were important issues but all they could see and hear were his inspiring words and aspect. The press is supposed to be our bulwark against mistakes of this kind. They failed us miserably and David Brooks coming out and writing an article like this is like slapping us when we are down.

Are you willing to accept that, as inept and unqualified as you believe Obama to be, the American people still preferred him over the Clueless Drama Queen/Bumbling Yokel ticket the GOP put forth last year?

The 2008 election did not happen in a vaccuum. This is a democracy and we’re all in this together. We all need to be mature enough to accept our portion of responsibility for what happens to our country, for good or bad. I can accept that Clinton’s narcissism and abuses of his office set the stage for Bush’s election. Are you all mature enough to accept responsibility for the actions of your team as well? Until you do, don’t expect anyone to take you seriously.

How’s this for mature? Obama used the hip hop culture of the welfare throngs to get himself voted into office. He counted on them not understanding politics, but understanding the gimmies they have grown up on.

They thought him being President meant they would get MORE free ride. They were probably right. But their attention spans are that of gnats, and they will not rise up again.

We are not all in this together, my friend. I am in it for me and my family, and for the good people of this country. The flow of dollars from my hand to the “poor” is over with. When we working people stop paying in, and begin keeping our money rather than handing it to this corrupt government, there will be no more handouts.

When it comes down to it, the majority on which you counted to win this election is vastly made up of illiterate thugs who couldn’t name the Vice President if they had to.

My advice to you is watch your back, because once the good decent people stop providing the gravy for the train, the thugs will turn on everyone they can reach. When they all die off because there is no one spoon feeding them, we will rise again and make this country great. Perhaps the bonus will be that all of the folks who are burdens on this society will have moved away to Canada or died. No skin off my back, if they cannot provide for themselves it isn’t my job to carry their sorry asses around. The rest of us will survive, and we are armed and ready. Self-sufficiency is a great teacher.

We all need to be mature enough to accept our portion of responsibility for what happens to our country, for good or bad.

I didn’t borrow more than I could pay back.
My family of 5 lives in a 1500 sq. ft home we can afford.
We drive used cars and shop at garage sales and second hand stores.
We have no credit card debt.
What, exactly, did I do to put the nation in this mess?

But this is beside the point. The issue here is that you all want to blame everyone else for the current economic crisis as though your own actions have no consequences. Well hey, guess what? For the past 8 years congress passed budget after budget of tax cuts and massive spending during a time of economic properity, and none of you could have been bothered to complain about that. Perhaps if you did, your sudden outrage might not seem so hollow and cynical.

That’s why now, no matter how much you all complain, no matter how right you may be, you have absolutely no credibility with the American public. You squandered every last drop of it with your dismissive accusations of derangement anytime someone dared to criticize Bush. You may have all the answers, but nobody cares what you think.

For all the preaching around these parts about individuals taking responsibility for their own actions, it’s funny how none of you are willing to entertain the notion that your own irresponsibility is part of the reason we’re in this mess. Blame the lefties and liberals who voted for Obama, blame the clueless idiots who voted for Obama because he listens to hip-hop (?? really??), blame the RINOs who ditched McCain/Palin. Blame, blame, blame, but never, ever stop to think why those people voted the way they did, or else you might have to shoulder some responsibility. Real mature. Ayn Rand would be so proud.

I’m a fiscally responsible person, yet my 401(k) still shrunk by almost 20% last year. We did everything by the book, yet we’re still suffering because of the mistakes of others.

See how that works? The irresponsible actions of others have a direct effect on my own well-being. AKA, we’re all in this together. If you cannot grasp this fundamental tenet of how societies operate, you’re in far deeper trouble than the rest of us.

I don’t want to punish them. I would be happy to let natural consequence occur and “allow” them to fail. What I am dead set against is rewarding them with more of my hard earned money for their failure. Also, I think “most Americans” is a hard group to speak for, but I would hazard a guess that many resent the hell out of the way things are going. If you are fortunate enough to be above water right now, a little sacrifice should not be too much to ask if it means holding our economy — your economy — together. If the bottom completely falls out, you will be screwed too — if your customer base suffers you could lose your business, and all your hard work will have been for naught. To me, paying a little more in taxes seems like a small price to pay if we can prevent that from happening, which is exactly what Obama is trying to do. If Obama fails, I promise to extend my deepest, most sincere apologies to you. But right now there is no way of knowing now what will come of all this; I wish us all the best of luck.

And I didnt go begging to the government for help, because they were too busy screwing me over then too.

Yes there is, look at every country that has tried socialism. It never ends up good and you will notice to keep a socialist government, they all had dictators. That is because leaders know, if given the chance people will reject the socialism/communism policies.

The best model is to let the free market work itself out. Some businesses are going to die, yes, but most of those had bad business policies and models. The successful ones will eventually expand and new ones will replace the dead ones. Lowering taxes means more spending, opening up business expansion. Taxing the hell out of businesses making over 250k causes these businesses not to expand, therefore losing jobs. Lowering taxes to a business at the 250k mark (which for a business is definitely not rich) will give them hiring power, thus more jobs. Americans are very generous, the ones not affected will donate to charities to help out people hurting, but will not if they are giving most of their extra money to the government. For more examples, that is what Reagan did, and it worked.

Taxing people’s capital gains causes people not to invest. Lowering capital gains will give the market a big boost. There are plenty of examples out there, and every model done that is the way we are heading, shows that it was a bad idea. Ask Japan.

huggybear, I am the kid who cried when the flag went by, when every old man from some far off war saluted. I get tears in my eyes to this day, when I see an act of heroism. I love my country. But as a small business owner, I can tell you this, I am at the end of my rope. I have paid more taxes than I will ever see back. I have watched as teens I knew grew to adulthood and started having babies, then receiving welfare. I watch as they are handed houses bigger than mine, with free cable and internet, free food, free car repairs through ASPIRE, and free childcare. I have watched their children get top notch medical care for free, while I hesitate every year to sign off on sports because it only takes one injury to one of my kids to destroy us financially.

I work so hard, and everyday I watch customers come through the doors using their foodstamps for candy my kids don’t get, and lobsters to put on their dinner tables, while we eat mac and cheese again. I am tired of the unfairness of it all. I am tired of watching my spouse come home aching and hurting so bad, hands bloodied from the physical labor he does. We don’t live high on the hog, we are simple people.

But while we work, the welfare crowd that voted Obama into office sits watching soap operas, eating better food than we ever will, without a care in the world. And I am tired. I am frustrated, and yeah, I am angry.

In a perfect world, I would help those who only needed a hand up, but I am bitter from being forced to help so many with handouts. It is not going to get better for us, the small business owner. He is upping our taxes, he is taking away deductions, he is making it impossible to live. He is taking away the will to try harder.

It won’t be long before we shut our doors and disappear off the grid, go into survival mode and stop caring about the world. It is cannibalistic already, and we have an obligation to our own to stay alive. It is survival of the fittest, and I know we are going to survive. Not so sure about this great country, but we will survive.

You say you don’t mind paying a little more in taxes. Maine is famous for it’s extreme high taxes for businesses. I cannot agree with you, we pay enough, too much, and we are having to choose between our ideals and our very survival. With kids to feed, survival is first.

It is going to be a painful time for America, when Obama’s promises fail and her people have never learned to fend for themselves. Sometimes, you just have to know when to say when.

I gladly served my country and asked for nothing in return. I loved being overseas and volunteered for extra assignments whenever I could. I even chose to join different branches of service at a times where there were not national crisis.

My respect goes out to those who werent valued during VietNam or other times. And many on here did far more and are doing far more than I ever had the chance to.

I would be interested in how many of those begging from the government have ever sent a care package to our service people (I can pretty much guarantee that few of them, who are not related to a serviceperson, did so during peacetime)
