Actually, by the very fact that they advertise they ARE telling Muslims (at least any that can read) what they think.

The young lady that started the atheist bus campaign in England was reacting to a religious ad for a website she saw on a bus. When she visited the website out of curiousity, she learned that the web masters apparently advocate the idea that she is going to hell. She reacted by motivating atheists to fund thier own ads that read “There probably is no god, so quit worrying and enjoy your life” or something to that effect.

This prompted at least one religious organization to try and get the ads removed claiming they violated some kind of “truth in advertising law.” Ironically, however, religous groups starting funded ads that said; in no uncertain terms, in constant to the atheist word “probably”; there is a God.

But, quite frankly, I’m to the point now where political correctness and liberal moral relativity have shat on the religious freedoms of Christians and the political views of conservatives, that I know this is inevitable.

Now to be completely fair, I personally think the “Christmas ads” in question were unduly cruel and probably not the best face forward that atheists could present. However, again in the interest of fairness, not all religious types aren’t always the nicest people once they find out you are an atheist.

Finally, any intellectually honest atheist must admit (as I myself do) that Islam is among the most disgusting of religions and Allah is a brutal beast (Yahweh of the Old Testament isn’t far behind, but then, they are the same guy, aren’t they?) I think, perhaps, that since so often the only atheists that are willing to admit to being atheists are liberal ones (draw your own conclusions here, it should be obvious), you end up with some kind of weird “PC atheist” that isn’t scared to condemn Christians but stops short of Muslims in the interest of “multiculturalism.” Again, however, this is not true of any intellectually honest atheist, indeed, many of the most famous; Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, and Sam Harris; all go to great lengths to condemn Muslims in their books. Sam Harris opens his “End of Faith” by condemning Muslims.

And I agree that the Muslims and Jews have a flawed understanding of God. But they are following the same God we do…they just (and I don’t mean “just” because this is HUGE) don’t understand how He wants to be followed. The Muslims and Jews acknowledge the same prophets and teachings we do up until the time of Jesus. That’s when they went astray (and of course they think Christians went astray).

The Jews seem to have an incomplete picture of God as they believe His Son has not arrived yet–but I am not sure, so any Jew reading feel free to correct this.

The Muslims believe that Mohammed was given the ultimate word of God, but considering that it came hundreds of years after Jesus’s resurrection, and the fact that the Koran (sp?) contradicts God’s love in many cases, they are not worshiping the one true God.

The woman, named Shakeela, died on the spot, while other members of the faithful suffered injuries of various kinds while they were seeking to flee from the bullets or to protect the pastor. The attackers broke the windows of the church, destroyed the Bibles and the other prayer books, and removed the cross from the roof of the building.

The issue we should have is the discrimination against Christianity in public fora, not that particular non-Christian religious or atheist messages are advertised. (Note: I’m not defending crudely offensive ads for anyone, and prefer decent timing–so no “God is dead” ads at Christmas.)

I wish, though, that less radical Islamic organizations were sponsoring the ads. They shouldn’t get the audience that these ads will give them, and they distort Islam.
