New Rush Derangement Syndrome project: A DNC-funded billboard

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 5, 2009 10:25 AM

Just arrived in my emailbox from the DNC: Solicitations for a new anti-Rush Limbaugh billboard the Democrat Party plans to put up in Palm Beach, Florida. Do Democrat donors really think this is the best use of their money?

Knock yourselves out:

I’m Jen O’Malley Dillon, the new Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee.

If you’re anything like me, then you’ve had the urge to talk back to a right-wing talk radio host more than a few times. Now you can.

Rush Limbaugh has made waves lately about his desire to see President Obama fail. And he’s unapologetic, even though Americans voted in November for the very kind of change the President is bringing to Washington. As even Limbaugh must know, if the President fails, America fails.

Incredibly, Republican leaders have yet to condemn Limbaugh for his destructive comments. In fact, Republicans like Congressman Eric Cantor, a leader in the House, have adopted the Limbaugh strategy, telling the Washington Post recently that their strategy on the President’s jobs plan was “just saying no.”

The only Republican leader to challenge Limbaugh — the chairman of the Republican National Committee — even called Rush to apologize just a few days later.

But we have no apologies for Rush, just a message. We need you to come up with a slogan, in ten words or less, that we’ll put on a billboard where he can’t miss it — in his hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Can you help us come up with a message for Rush that we’ll place on a billboard right in his hometown?

We’ll go through all the slogans we get, and the winner will have his or her message appear on the billboard — and receive a free T-shirt featuring the winning slogan.

If Republican leaders aren’t willing to tell Rush, then we will. Americans want President Obama to succeed. Our country’s future depends on it. Rooting for the President’s failure is rooting for our country to fail.

To get America back on a path to prosperity, we’ll need to leave behind the failed partisan attack politics of the past. Americans voted for a new direction in November. Choosing Rush Limbaugh to be the voice of their party — as Republican leaders have done — is not the answer.

Send in your suggestion of ten words or less for a billboard and we’ll choose the best one to put in Rush’s own “backyard”:

http://www.democrats.org/rushbillboard

Thanks,
Jen

BTW-Everyone should go to Rush’s website and READ his debate challenge to President Obama. It is one of the BEST smack-downs I’ve seen so far of the Obama Administration and their decision to choose people to “attack”, since they no longer have GWB to kick around. If the White House poo-poos the idea of debating a “public citizen” as beneath them (because they’re, like, focusing on the “big issues” and all) then they’ve just shot themselves in the foot for admitting they’ve made a big deal about a “non-issue” with Rush.

Personally, I hope President Bambi takes Rush up on that offer. If they sell it on Pay-Per-View perhaps we’ll be able to actually PAY for some of Bambi’s stupid welfare plans without floating another trillion in debt to the Chinese!

…if the President fails, America fails.

Inductive leap. The prosperity of this nation is not wholly dependent on just the President of the United States, but rather on the people of this great nation. He plays an important role, certainly, but this is not an automatic correlation. This government should be for the people and by the people, not over the people.

Rush has stated his reasons clearly. Were liberal talking heads apologetic over wishing to see President Bush fail? Were they apologetic when they hoped that the Iraq war would fail? (Didn’t many of them even declare that it had?)

We don’t want to see this government spend us into a massive deficit with only big and overbearing government left behind to show for it.

The Democratic campaign ran on partisanship and anti-Bush rhetoric and is now shocked to find that people remain distrustful of President Obama. Gee, why doesn’t he come out again and remind us all that “he won”? That will clearly endear all of us to fervently hope that he succeeds.

Being anti-omnibus-bailouts is not being anti-economy, no matter how hard they might try to spin it that way. There is more than one solution here and there is nothing that says we have to love the President’s solution simply because he is the President.

You have an administration and a supportive media utilizing significant resources to publicly attack a private citizen and that doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

On the one hand, they dismiss him as merely an “entertainer” while on the other, they devote energy to silence and discredit him. Free speech is a threat to this administration. Dissent is neither tolerable nor “patriotic” these days.

This will backfire on them. It seems their hope is to make Rush into the strawman for all conservatism. Rush has to love all this attention. A radio talk show host has captured the full attention of the White House and the DNC.

Independents who didn’t listen to Rush before will now tune in to learn more about this noise. Some of them will agree with him.

Rush has no reason to back down. He doesn’t have to worry about putting on a cloak of bipartisanship like so many Republican legislators seem to believe is in fashion. When he not only doesn’t back down, but converts more to the cause, maybe Republican leaders will finally take notice that they can win on principles.

    sonofdy raises an excellent point:

So with all the problems this country has, their top priority is to try to attack a radio host?

Clearly the “this isn’t what’s really important” commenters on this board can agree on that. However, I expect that they won’t since it comes from President Obama and their DNC chief.

I hope so. Come election time, the less they have to spend misleading voters with deceptive campaign ads the better!

They don’t need their own money for elections anymore. That was the point of the huge amounts of our money given away with the bailout. They have built their base and now can spend their money any way they want. ACORN and Soros will take care of the elections.

Doesn’t Rush take calls from listeners every show? Wouldn’t that be talking back to him? Am I missing something or is this opening just utterly moronic?

As even Limbaugh must know, if the President fails, America fails.

A statement of such supreme idiocy only a Democrat could utter it. If that statement were true then she’s admitting that for the last eight years the Democrats have been trying to make America fail.

Everyone with a brain knows that Rush Limbaugh is a conservative radio show commentator. He is not republican. There are too many things in the republican party that he disagrees with, as do all conservatives. The Obama lackies are trying their usual diversion tactics…to the great delight and monetary stimulation of El Rushbo! God be with him.

Does anyone on this post believe that if Jen O’Malley-Dillon calls into the Limbaugh show at 12:00 pm ET today and tells Snerdley that she wants to go on the air and give Limbaugh a piece of her “talk back” that it would not immediately happen. Millions upon millions of listeners would get to hear her position, not the few hundred that drive past the billboard. If she has these urges, she should exercise them in person, voice to voice, mano-a-mano. Sambo or texvet or PBoilermaker or I might not get on, but you can bet that Limbaugh would take a call from Jen O’Malley-Dillon. He would let her rant and rave to her heart’s content. But no, let’s put it on a billboard. Why not just call up his house at 3 am and then hang up. That would really teach him. How pathetic! For goodness sake, Limbaugh is just an entertainer and she is the Executive Director of the whole gosh darned democrat National Committee.

    on his program.

Yes, a prescription for my migraines. I grew totally dependant on them and was even at the point of carrying a prescription at two different drug stores. My doctor finally got wise when the stores called for his renewal approval too many times. He called me and said, NO more! I was very unhappy for a few days. But strangely enough, once I got those drugs out of my system, my headaches vanished too! That was about 30 years ago. It took my doctor over 2 years to catch on! Like I say, if it happened to me, it can happen to anyone. I also smoked for 25 years and quit cold turkey…never looked back. I am currently in the process of losing a lot of weight…on my own. So far, I have dropped 45 pounds. Almost to my goal! I think you might call that “personal responsibility”.
