Analysts to Obama: There are no Taliban “moderates,” you nitwit

U.S. President Barack Obama’s proposal to reach out to moderate Taliban will fail to end the Afghan insurgency as it is inflexible Taliban leaders who are orchestrating the war, not moderates, analysts said.
Obama, in an interview with the New York Times newspaper published on its website on Saturday, expressed an openness to adapting tactics in Afghanistan that had been used in Iraq to reach out to moderate elements there.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai welcomed Obama’s proposal but analysts were doubtful.
“Obama’s comment resemble a dream more than reality,” said Waheed Mozhdah, an analyst who has written a book on the Taliban.
“Where are the so-called moderate Taliban? Who are the moderate Taliban?” asked Mozhdah, who was an official in both the Taliban and the Karzai governments.
Karzai’s pro-Western administration and the growing number of foreign forces in Afghanistan have increasingly come under attack from a resurgent Taliban, with Obama now describing Afghanistan as a top foreign policy priority for his new administration.
“‘Moderate Taliban’ is like ‘moderate killer’. Is there such a thing?”, asked writer and analyst Qaseem Akhgar.

The moderate Taliban only wants to oppress Afghans a little.

That’s strange. I heard that Obama was for intercepting communications, monitoring financial transactions and even waterboarding in extreme cases. Oh yeah, that’s for radio talk show hosts. Never mind.
Will this man ever get off his magic carpet ride and do his job? When I heard this yesterday I thought it must be a Saturday Nigt Live skit, but then this whole administration is a SNL show.

I read that comment yesterday and busted up laughing at the notion there were ‘moderate’ Taliban. Hey, no worries, by the time hussein’s term is up he’ll have the job down pat, right?

The moderate Taliban sounds suspiciously like Neville Chamberlain and his fantasy of “moderate Nazi”.

We found a way to get the Iraqi people that were living in daily fear of their lives and their family’s lives to openly support us …
When it became apparent that they could safely and openly support the new freedoms they were being offered the conflict turned a big corner toward success …
Although some of the “converts” had at one time fought against us it was from more of a viewpoint of being in pursuit of survival than that of a true Jihadi extremist …
Neither the Taliban nor the hard-core Al Qaeda fighters were swayed to our side … there wasn’t a “moderate” to be found amongst them …
Just more liberal “pie-in-the-sky” … not sure if it was “Sweet Potato” or “Coconut Cream” …

I was not a little upset to hear BHO declare this conciliation to the Taliban. I told my 7 year old son (you don’t do nuance with 7 year old boys) “Son, Obama just lost the war on terror for us.”
Evidence that the future is bright? My son declared, without skipping a beat, “That’s ok, dad, we’ll vote in another president and he’ll bomb them!” And, I added, just as quick, “and, this time, we’ll bring our artillery.”
