Obama: I’m not a socialist, I just play one on TV
Comedy gold to kick off a new week of market turmoil and Treasury Department incompetence: Barack Obama phoned up the New York Times to clarify, uh, that he’s not really a socialist because an unnamed former administration (here, Barry, let me help you: Bush the pre-socializer) poured billions of tax dollars into failing business, so, uh, he didn’t start it. He’s not a socialist. He just plays one on TV.
Behold the role model of personal responsibility:
President Obama was so concerned that he had appeared to dismiss a question from New York Times reporters about whether he was a socialist that he called the newspaper from the Oval Office to clarify his policies.
“It was hard for me to believe that you were entirely serious about that socialist question,” he told reporters, who had interviewed the president aboard Air Force One on Friday.
Opening the unusual presidential call to reporters by saying that there was “just one thing I was thinking about as I was getting on the copter,” he said it wasn’t he who started the federal government’s intervention into the nation’s financial system.
“I did think it might be useful to point out that it wasn’t under me that we started buying a bunch of shares of banks. It wasn’t on my watch. And it wasn’t on my watch that we passed a massive new entitlement -– the prescription drug plan — without a source of funding. And so I think it’s important just to note when you start hearing folks throw these words around that we’ve actually been operating in a way that has been entirely consistent with free-market principles and that some of the same folks who are throwing the word ‘socialist’ around can’t say the same.”
Translation: We didn’t start the fire, therefore dumping more gasoline on it is not socialism.
Obamanomics: Chains you can believe in.

Either that, or his mom will make him do his homework and set the table.
That’s funny. On another thread right now, I just asked this little pipsqueak how old it was and I guessed about 16. Go to the “another unhinged democrat to taxpayer rant” thread for more wisdom of ILMC.
Scrap, Ret:
I know it.
OTOH, We’ve, as followers of Christ, been admonished to sound the warning. (and, yes, I know it was a more inclusive warrant than my narrow warning above…).
However, that said, I was inspired to warn him. In a long life, I’ve found I should always follow the suggestions of that still, small voice.
So, at The Bar, he’ll not have the option of claiming ignorance…
… though for the *rest* of him, it would probably suffice. [grin]
ILMC:
Interesting that you impune anger to my warning. I can be offended and not angry — a condition I admit I’ve never seen in a Liberal. Indeed, it is your projection of anger in my words that’s most telling.
What I actually feel is offense at your words — sort of like when a pooch who knows no better messes the floor. I’m not angry with and don’t hate the pooch — it has no idea I didn’t want it to use the floor as a toilet. I feel saddness I have to attempt correction, for most obviously your parents taught you niether manners nor instilled those qualities that make a civilized people. I am so sorry they fell short. Your life must be a difficulty unending.
Since I and others have tried to help you understand — in Liberalspeak, (to aid your comprehension) to provide proper socialization, and failed, I guess we’ll just have to part company you & I. Just wanted to set the record straight, and ease the burden you carry.
Well said. I loved it.
Thing is, all these Libs know is anger. That is the only emotion they feel, outside of greed and laziness. Thus, they think EVERYONE is angry as well. They mistake intelligence and being informed as anger from our side.
I find it so funny that he is accusing us of being angry when what we really are is laughing hysterically at what a two-bit maroon he and his thought process is.
And yet you’re feeding the anger. What does that say about you? Someone’s on a power trip today.
I highly doubt a Buddhist Monk told you anything…. it already seems you’ve twisted his teachings to suit your own moral failings.
I’m late to this thread, but this is a point worth making…
Obama wants to place the blame on Bush for the full $700 Billion in TARP funds, but it was OBAMA who pushed for the second half of that money to be released.
Monday, January 12, 2009:
In other words, Obama felt it would be “irresponsible” of Bush if Bush did not release the money to Obama.
Bush played the role of “useful idiot” and requested the money for Obama’s use, while Obama went on to blame Bush for it.
Bush got the blame, Obama got the money.
