Stimulating illegal alien jobs

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 9, 2009 11:15 AM

I’ve reported to you over the past month on Sen. Jeff Sessions’s battle to ensure that stimulus money didn’t go to illegal aliens. He fought the good fight and lost.

Now, it dawns on USA Today that — you don’t say! — the stimulus money might find hundreds of thousands of illegal alien jobs. Way to keep the American people informed in a timely and relevant manner!

Tens of thousands of jobs created by the economic stimulus law could end up filled by illegal immigrants, particularly in big states such as California where undocumented workers are heavily represented in construction, experts on both sides of the issue say.
Studies by two conservative think tanks estimate immigrants in the United States illegally could take 300,000 construction jobs, or 15% of the 2 million jobs that new taxpayer-financed projects are predicted to create.

They fault Congress for failing to require that employers certify legal immigration status of workers before hiring by using a Department of Homeland Security program called E-Verify. The program allows employers to check the validity of Social Security numbers provided by new hires. It is available to employers on a voluntary basis.

By the way, in my previous post, I was not calling for violent overthrow of the government. There is a legal process we can use that involves getting off of our behinds and out into the streets. Our congressmen live among us and we have to get in their faces. We need to protest and those who can, need to run for office. We need to get around this one-party system somehow.

A big part of it is to tune out all of the Republican mouthpieces like Hannity and make it a non-partisan movement. That was the “big tent” idea Reagan promoted, the idea that conservative principles were widely shared by ordinary Americans and so the GOP should open the country club to make room for those who shared our principles. This is the diametric opposite of the new GOP strategy to fill the big tent by arguing that because the party doesn’t stand for anything anymore, there is no risk that anyone will be offended.

This is too important to get ensnared in petty partisan politics rhetoric. We need to win the hearts and minds of the very people who make our society work and who now find themselves in the cross hairs of government across the board.

Yesterday, it was reported that arrests at the border were down to 1976 levels. That is nothing to shout about. Arrests last year were around 500,000. They only nab about 25% of those who try to cross. That means that 1.5 million are still successful. The problem may be abating, but the numbers are still astoundingly bad.

If you can’t get your legislature to act then you need to start a petition drive to get it on the next ballot and work to pass it … that is what we did here in Arizona …

Why doesn’t Congress require businesses to verify a person’s legal status in this country? Because the Liberals all say that to do so would be violating people’s personal rights and privacy.

There is just one thing that these people in Congress have forgotten in their quest for Political Correctness. They have all taken an oath. They took an Oath of Office for their particular elected position. That OATH was to uphold the Constitution. They have also, while embarking on this misguided quest, forgotten the the Constitution of the United States of America, and with it the Bill of Rights, ONLY APPLY TO AMERICAN CITIZENS.

What that means is, if you are here ILLEGALLY, if you are NOT and AMERICAN CITIZEN, then that Constitution, and along with it those Rights outlined therein, DO NOT APPLY TO YOU!

Therefore, to claim that it would be violating rights that do not exist is merely a scapegoat and a justification they have come up with for violating their oath and, yes, breaking the laws governing ILLEGAL Immigrants that are already on the books.

We don’t need new laws. We do not require any more debate on this issue. What we need are real, honest to God men and women with spines who will not be intimidated or pushed around by Liberal P.C. thugs and other associated Liberals. We need honest to God LOYAL AMERICANS to stand up for what is right in this country, to honor their oaths, to honor the millions and millions of hard working men and women who, just based on the very nature of the fact that these “elected officials” turn their backs on countless violations of the law, follow the law, do what is right and actually do have morals, values and consciences.

Is there anyone left with a soul in Washington? Is there anyone with a backbone that is not the color of…well, lemonaide?

So far, there has not been in a very long time. The number of citizens in this country who would support the strict implementation of the laws already on the books far outnumber those that do not, especially since the vast numbers that do not are not even permitted by law to be in opposition as they are not even citizens of this country.
