No, you are right Chap…both of those newspapers made the whole thing up. They never talked to anyone and only made these things up as par of the Global Conservative Right-Wing Conspiracy to embarrass, lie, twist and destroy such an honest, kind, gentle human being who only wants to make sure this country maintains the basis that it was founded on.

You disingenuous, lying piece of ….

You are done. You can go ahead and attempt to talk to/with me but from here on out, it will be as if your posts do not exist.

You not only lie, not only did you do EXACTLY what I stated you would do having been shown to be what you are, but you continue to lie, twist, spin etc. in a weak effort to appear tat you were correct the whole time and it is everyone else.

I only am embarrassed for actually having stuck up for you a couple of times in the past. It was my fault for not paying close enough attention to all your posts, as I did on this thread.

You are nothing more than a standard, everyday, run of the mill Liberal complete with the same tactics and circular logic/reasoning that is so deeply ingrained and inherent in the Neo-Lib of the modern day.

Rather than admitting you are wrong, apologizing for being wrong, you just keep on spinning and lying. And not only that, you even attempt to claim to VERY reputable news sources are LYING and libeling themselves. Simply amazing. These were actual, reputable sources, not the ones you are used to such as Kos, DU, HuffPo, what’s left of AirAmerica, Michael Moore or whatever “progressive” website you gather your “information” from, when you actually do get any.

Have fun being relegated to the same pile of jokes that LGM, IHMC, MJ and the rest of the window-lickers are on, but I am done with you.

The entire tone of your posts now are nothing short of someone who is backpeddaling and trying to regain whatever ounce of credibility they thought they had.

Good luck with that, but the written word is here for all to see. Kinda hard to go back and change what you wrote now.

Idiot. I didn’t say they made it up. I said they never told us who actually said it. THTAT IS WHAT “POORLY SOURCED” MEANS YOU IMBECILE! Administrations are big and there are a lot of players, from lowly gophers to Secretary Clinton. This paper that cited this “official” wouldn’t even ascribe a level to this person? If you knew anything about journalism, you would know this probably means the person that said this is a nobody. But then you lie about it being the senior official in charge of protocol, when the article gave no indication of that whatsoever. You simply made that up.

Why did you say Brown was on record as not liking movies and then linking to a quote that said something very very different? The source you provided was not Brown on record and did not say he did not like movies. You lied about both aspects.

Please explain your entirely obvious lies or shut the hell up.

And believe me, I am not sorry to lose the support of an actual lying piece of crap like you.

Let me take this one separately. Show me where I said any source was lying. I said you lied about what the sources said, which is true on its face. So, ironically, this is yet another lie of yours.

Also, if you can point to one single post where I have ever authoritatively cited something from Kos, DU, HuffPo, Air America, or Michael Moore, not only on this thread but on any thread ever, I will bow down and worship you and renounce all ties to the Democratic Party. But let me save you the trouble. You won’t find it because I have never done it. It is yet another lie by you. Jeez. This is almost pathological.

That is at least 5 verifiable lies by you. Yet all you have to throw at me are amorphous accusations and not a single actual example.

    By the way…

Does anyone know what Bush’s gift to Blair was on their first meeting? The one that was given in exchange for the Churchill bust that everyone is making such a fuss about and which was apparently worth hundreds of thousands of pounds?

A jacket with Blair’s name on it.

Wow. Talk about tacky. Yet some how our eggshell fragile alliance managed to survive the horrible slight. One can only pray that the British Empire does not decide to reannex us after Obama’s latest unforgivable transgression.

Also, I fully expect the howls from all the absolutely sincere and objective posters here about how Bush nearly started WWIII with our closest, dearest ally.

Yeah, Bush, an aviator himself, gave Brown a replica aviator jacket like the one worn by hundreds of thousands of American aviators who helped save Britain from the Nazis between 1942 and 1945.

At least there was some thought and some historical context and some personal touch. And while Brown didn’t seem to relish the gift, he seems to have done his best to not make an issue of it.

Somehow it is all still Bush’s fault. No, not quite, and not quite the same as a box full of DVDs from Wal-mart. Nice try, Chappy.

I wrote a long, one page letter of apology to the British Embassy in DC. I told them that my grandparents were first generation Americans from Ireland, Scotland and England, and that I feel that kinship heritage. I thanked them for standing by us in Iraq and thanked them for doing a good job in Southern Iraq and helping us in Afghanistan. I told them my Dad participated in D day and few of the men in his ship survived getting ashore without being gunned down. But we Americans stood by them, in their hour of need to ensure the protection of freedom and Democracy.

I also thanked them by extension for the help the Canadians gave us during Carter’s inept Presidency when the Canadian Embassy hid those Americans for many months in Iran.

I told them how much I enjoyed visiting their country back in 1994, seeing their museums, learning about their heritage and history and deeply appreciated how nice everyone was to me. I also told them I was very excited to catch a glimpse of Princess Diana while I was there (I know that was cheeey).

I then apollgized for the huge snub our current inept President gave their Prime Minister. I assured them that the people in the heartland of the country deeply appreciate the UK standing by us and with us as we have faced the perils in the world.

I then sent a duplicate printout of this letter to the Whitehouse and hand wrote across the top to President Obama that he embarrassed our country and that he was an idiot.

Watch me get audited by the IRS :)

He gave Blair the exact same gift 6 years previous, with the same old people saying what a travesty this was to US/British relations. Beyond the inherent tackiness in giving the exact same gift, it shows Bush clearly gave no thought to the gift to Brown, who has a very different style. In fact Brown refused to put it on. And, per British law, if Brown wanted to keep the jacket, he basically had to pay for it. He refused. Holy cow! What an insult to our bestest friend in the world!

And why do you think there is no thought to American film? Oh yeah…because it is Obama.

Nice try. But Bush apparently was as bad a gift giver, if not worse, as Bush. Yet no histrionics from the right and curiously, they are still our ally.

Again, no one is saying the Brown’s gift wasn’t way cooler. I am just saying this hand wringing and wailing here is stupid, and for the most part, I think disingenuous. This is not the end of Anglo-American relationships as we know it. Brown received a gift he absolutely, verifiability loathed from Bush when they first met (the same gift he had given to Blair) yet somehow, I guess due to that legendary stiff British upper lip, he was able to bury his hurt and anger deep within himself, with nary a tear to betray his fragile emotional state, and manage to not break off diplomatic ties with us.

Obama’s gift was without thought and disingenuous. Sending Churchill’s statue packing was not only ignorant, but tipifies a total lack of historical knowledge.

So what if it was a pack of DVD’s, big deal. But your guy cannot even be gracious without the snob-thing getting in the way.

So You certainly cannot presume any lack of historical knowledge.

Whatever. Arguing what was or was not the mindset of Obama in selecting the gift, or Brown in receiving it, is pointless. The important thing is that I thankfully have yet to see the RAF in the skies above me, raining down firely retribution upon us all. Mr Blair bought all of the presents he received in his last few months in office, including a pewter tea set worth £400 from the government of Libya and a porcelain figure worth £250 from the people of Germany.

In contrast, Mr Brown did not accept a single gift, turning down, among other items, a commemorative coin from the prime minister of Ethiopia, a stone bowl from the president of Afghanistan and a rug from the president of Pakistan.

Ever frugal, Mr Brown did pass the perishable items given to him on to charity or into the Government’s wine cellars. They included a hamper from the Sultan of Brunei and wine from the French president.

Elsewhere, Margaret Beckett, the former Foreign Secretary, received champagne, wine and a candle stick holder worth just under £1,000 from the prime minister of Afghanistan, and a rug valued at £180 from the prime minister of Pakistan.

Jack Straw, the Justice Secretary, “purchased part” of a hamper from the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in December, but the rest was retained by his department.

The bomber jacket given to Mr Brown by Mr Bush during their first talks as fellow leaders is emblazoned with the presidential logo and features his name stitched on to the brown leather.

In July 2001 Mr Blair gave President Bush a coat, and on subsequent occasions gave him a book and golf equipment.

No, indications are Blair liked the jacket, or at least he wore it again when he visted Camp David. Never said he hated it. But Brown clearly hated it and refused to put it on when Bush asked him. But in both cases the usual suspects (the British media) were making a big deal about how dumb and thoughtless and comparatively poor the gift was. Same as here, except in this case the right has gotten all frothy too.

But in both cases the usual suspects (the British media) were making a big deal about how dumb and thoughtless and comparatively poor the gift was. Same as here, except in this case the right has gotten all frothy too.

But that’s the point I am attempting to make. I haven’t seen any articles where the British media made any hay out Bush’s gift to Blair. I provided examples of Blair’s view toward gifts from other HOSs. His reaction to Bush’s gift while not very receptive, certainly isn’t the same as Obama/Brown giftgate. Unlike Bush, Obama broke protocol with respect to the press conference and lack of a formal dinner.

I’m sure you have answers for that as well but the point is your boy isn’t off to an impressive start. With simple things such as this he deems it necessary to break customs and not in a good way.

Like I said, you have serious “issues” and seem to have difficulty distinguishing between basic emotions. Whatever treatment you are receiving it is obviously not working! See your health-care provider immediately even if the “voices” in your head tell you not to.

Oh, wait, is that restraining order your health-care provider obtained against you still in effect? Bummer!

Do the “voices” in your head sound like Meg Ryan or Billy Crystal or both? That may be important information for your health-care provider…

    Props. That was funny.

Folks … IMHO we’re off the real focus.

It not the d@mn gift. It’s the disrespect shown regarding the cancellation of the Press conference at the airport and the lethargic Mr Prez at the presser at the oval office.

    It’s about substance NOT stuff.

Good catch! I forgot about that. I will add it to my list of links.

Now would you please link a similar post/criticism and an analogous list of comments to restore my faith in the objective reporting of the WaPo?
