Look, the Obozo looks down on everyone outside his circle. Plain and simple…not complicated. He’s tacky, he’s a snob, he’s a lib. Lacks character, morals, and principles consistant with the history of this country.
But the majority voted this man into the highest office in the land. Sad, really sad.
By the way…
Does anyone know what Bush’s gift to Blair was on their first meeting? The one that was given in exchange for the Churchill bust that everyone is making such a fuss about and which was apparently worth hundreds of thousands of pounds?
A jacket with Blair’s name on it.
Wow. Talk about tacky. Yet some how our eggshell fragile alliance managed to survive the horrible slight. One can only pray that the British Empire does not decide to reannex us after Obama’s latest unforgivable transgression.
Also, I fully expect the howls from all the absolutely sincere and objective posters here about how Bush nearly started WWIII with our closest, dearest ally.
Yeah, Bush, an aviator himself, gave Brown a replica aviator jacket like the one worn by hundreds of thousands of American aviators who helped save Britain from the Nazis between 1942 and 1945.
At least there was some thought and some historical context and some personal touch. And while Brown didn’t seem to relish the gift, he seems to have done his best to not make an issue of it.
Somehow it is all still Bush’s fault. No, not quite, and not quite the same as a box full of DVDs from Wal-mart. Nice try, Chappy.
I wrote a long, one page letter of apology to the British Embassy in DC. I told them that my grandparents were first generation Americans from Ireland, Scotland and England, and that I feel that kinship heritage. I thanked them for standing by us in Iraq and thanked them for doing a good job in Southern Iraq and helping us in Afghanistan. I told them my Dad participated in D day and few of the men in his ship survived getting ashore without being gunned down. But we Americans stood by them, in their hour of need to ensure the protection of freedom and Democracy.
I also thanked them by extension for the help the Canadians gave us during Carter’s inept Presidency when the Canadian Embassy hid those Americans for many months in Iran.
I told them how much I enjoyed visiting their country back in 1994, seeing their museums, learning about their heritage and history and deeply appreciated how nice everyone was to me. I also told them I was very excited to catch a glimpse of Princess Diana while I was there (I know that was cheeey).
I then apollgized for the huge snub our current inept President gave their Prime Minister. I assured them that the people in the heartland of the country deeply appreciate the UK standing by us and with us as we have faced the perils in the world.
I then sent a duplicate printout of this letter to the Whitehouse and hand wrote across the top to President Obama that he embarrassed our country and that he was an idiot.
Watch me get audited by the IRS
Ooopsie, I apologize for the typo of apologized up in previous post!! I missed that one in the preview.
He gave Blair the exact same gift 6 years previous, with the same old people saying what a travesty this was to US/British relations. Beyond the inherent tackiness in giving the exact same gift, it shows Bush clearly gave no thought to the gift to Brown, who has a very different style. In fact Brown refused to put it on. And, per British law, if Brown wanted to keep the jacket, he basically had to pay for it. He refused. Holy cow! What an insult to our bestest friend in the world!
And why do you think there is no thought to American film? Oh yeah…because it is Obama.
Nice try. But Bush apparently was as bad a gift giver, if not worse, as Bush. Yet no histrionics from the right and curiously, they are still our ally.
No. You are intentionally lying. No surprise. They were specially commissioned from the American Film Institute.
Admit your lie or become as pathetic as RetFireman.
Chappy is off his meds and obviously hitting the bottle AGAIN! I am an American film-maker and it is arguably our greatest contribution to world history and culture so the Wal-mart reference was “artistic license” which is NOT the same as lying and an ethically challenged lawyer/pimp leftist type like Chappy should know that…
A lie in pursuit of artistic license is still a lie.
I guess you are just a truthfully challenge scumbag righty liar.
No, artists can never lie. Oliver Stone said so when he wrote Platoon and JFK. I have “artistic license” out the wazoo thanks to Mr. Stone’s historical prevarications! It is simply GRAND!
Why, now that I can
lie with impunity,er, exercise “artistic license,” I feel just like Obama!Free from moral constraints at last! Free from moral constraints at last!
Then I say this with all sincere artistic license.
You are a valuable member of this community with a unique and important perspective to share.
Coming from a leftist perv like you that means soooo much. This “artistic license” is GRRRRRREAT!
Recall, sparky, who is the one that first delved into speculating about me trolling for trannys in DC.
Don’t blame me because I decided to indulge your sick fantasies about me.
As I recall you claimed to know, in detail, all the places where they hang out. Just like you admitted to being a boozer last night.
I assure you I have no fantasies about you. Well, there is the one where you admit you are not a citizen, resign your office, flee the country and never return. But, all conservatives have that fantasy about all leftists…
Again, I was indulging you, since you had initiated the topic. And trying to give you a heads up on where you could try to satisfy some of your repressed urges with actual trannys.
No repressed urges here, mate. I got me a real woman for a lifetime gig! But you go right on with that “projection” thing.
If you ever had to face up to all the ugly facts of your reality all at once it could get ugly for you and your immediate neighbors real quick.
So did Larry Craig and Ted Haggard. But you keep lying to yourself there, sport. I have nothing but pity for you.
More “projection” from the leftist perv. And your pity is soooo touching. It brings a tear to my eye. Was it you or that other loon who was talking about “evolved empathy?” Is this evolution in action, or what!
You are willing to baldly lie about the provenance of the DVDs. It is no surprise you lie to yourself and your family about your “dark secret”.
I wish you the best in struggling with your true nature.
“Artistic license!” We already went over this. Weren’t you paying attention? Oh, maybe you just aren’t sober again.
Well, I am done for the night. I replaced the failed drive, rebuilt the raid array, corrected an error in the monitoring software and that’s all, folks.
So that’s the street slang for it now? When did you all abandon “down low”?
I wouldn’t know about street slang. I am not “down with the struggle” like you lefties.
Geez WarEagle…I come back to the thread for a second and all I see is you arguing with something that resembles a fish flopping around on the bottom of a boat gasping for air.
Just freaking CLASSIC!
Chappy was in rare form tonight. If it is this hard to defend Obambi after 5 or 6 weeks Chappy will pop his gourd in another few months.
Shut up, Chapoutier.
You lied, your credibility died.
You do belong on the pile of dung with lgm, et al.
Chapoutier, do us all a favor and kill yourself.
Die in a fire, kill yourself, do what is necessary. Spare us all from your inanities.
atheling,
I see you are still not holding Ret accountable for his lies. Did you miss them? There are at least 5 very clear bald face lies. You still have yet to show me an instance where I lied and just throw out these unsubstantiated claims. The fact that you are ignoring his actual on their face lies and attacking me shows you are the one with zero credibility.
Ret,
Account for your lies. Or shut up.
Sakaki,
I guess you are just another lie apologist. Sad, really.
Well whoop-tee-doo…I pet myself.
You can try calling them up and seeing if they will do the same for you.
Again, no one is saying the Brown’s gift wasn’t way cooler. I am just saying this hand wringing and wailing here is stupid, and for the most part, I think disingenuous. This is not the end of Anglo-American relationships as we know it. Brown received a gift he absolutely, verifiability loathed from Bush when they first met (the same gift he had given to Blair) yet somehow, I guess due to that legendary stiff British upper lip, he was able to bury his hurt and anger deep within himself, with nary a tear to betray his fragile emotional state, and manage to not break off diplomatic ties with us.
Obama’s gift was without thought and disingenuous. Sending Churchill’s statue packing was not only ignorant, but tipifies a total lack of historical knowledge.
So what if it was a pack of DVD’s, big deal. But your guy cannot even be gracious without the snob-thing getting in the way.
The Churchill bust was always a loan, and in fact was the “gift” the Bush from Blair. And preferred Lincoln there. And, as has been pointedout many times, Churchill was not necessarily a great friend to Kenya, where you all have made abundantly clear he hails from. So You certainly cannot presume any lack of historical knowledge.
Whatever. Arguing what was or was not the mindset of Obama in selecting the gift, or Brown in receiving it, is pointless. The important thing is that I thankfully have yet to see the RAF in the skies above me, raining down firely retribution upon us all. I guess all those sincere letters of apology from the posters here has quelled his furious anger.
Oh, that explains everything.
So will the DVD’s go back to Netflix soon?
Mr Blair bought all of the presents he received in his last few months in office, including a pewter tea set worth £400 from the government of Libya and a porcelain figure worth £250 from the people of Germany.
In contrast, Mr Brown did not accept a single gift, turning down, among other items, a commemorative coin from the prime minister of Ethiopia, a stone bowl from the president of Afghanistan and a rug from the president of Pakistan.
Ever frugal, Mr Brown did pass the perishable items given to him on to charity or into the Government’s wine cellars. They included a hamper from the Sultan of Brunei and wine from the French president.
Elsewhere, Margaret Beckett, the former Foreign Secretary, received champagne, wine and a candle stick holder worth just under £1,000 from the prime minister of Afghanistan, and a rug valued at £180 from the prime minister of Pakistan.
Jack Straw, the Justice Secretary, “purchased part” of a hamper from the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in December, but the rest was retained by his department.
The bomber jacket given to Mr Brown by Mr Bush during their first talks as fellow leaders is emblazoned with the presidential logo and features his name stitched on to the brown leather.
In July 2001 Mr Blair gave President Bush a coat, and on subsequent occasions gave him a book and golf equipment.

I have yet to find in any of my searches where Blair has stated that he loathed the jacket. I’d say there is a bit of hyperbole and embellishment on the behalf of several posters.
Chap absolutely and verifiably loathes Bush, but is willing to overlook or justify ANYTHING the Ohero does or regurgitates.
No, indications are Blair liked the jacket, or at least he wore it again when he visted Camp David. Never said he hated it. But Brown clearly hated it and refused to put it on when Bush asked him. But in both cases the usual suspects (the British media) were making a big deal about how dumb and thoughtless and comparatively poor the gift was. Same as here, except in this case the right has gotten all frothy too.
I definitely think he was a poor president, but I admire many of his accomplishments, including his work with AIDS and in Africa in general. I also think he was nothing but classy and gracious during the transition.
I loathe the Geithner pick. I have said he lied about campaign finance. I think he is wrong to say opposition to federal funding of stem cell research is “political.” I am pretty sure I am against the EFCA. Shall i continue?
So we can take the following from this discussion:
1) Chappy now believes Obambi was born in Keyna and his loyalties clearly reside there.
2) Bush does not play favorites with Prime Ministers when it comes to giving gifts.
3) The AFI are evidently a bunch of elitist snobs and will not run down to Wal-mart and buy a basket of DVDs for you!
4) Chappy lives in mortal fear that the RAF will rain down fire upon us at any moment unless we continue to apologize to the UK.
5) Chappy cannot tell the difference between “abject loathing and hostility” and “sexual tension.”
No. We’ll leave it there. Thanks.
Like I said before, you are the Sally to my Harry.
Then Brown and Obama should get along just fine. Smug & Smug, 2 bugs in a rug.
But that’s the point I am attempting to make. I haven’t seen any articles where the British media made any hay out Bush’s gift to Blair. I provided examples of Blair’s view toward gifts from other HOSs. His reaction to Bush’s gift while not very receptive, certainly isn’t the same as Obama/Brown giftgate. Unlike Bush, Obama broke protocol with respect to the press conference and lack of a formal dinner.
I’m sure you have answers for that as well but the point is your boy isn’t off to an impressive start. With simple things such as this he deems it necessary to break customs and not in a good way.
Like I said, you have serious “issues” and seem to have difficulty distinguishing between basic emotions. Whatever treatment you are receiving it is obviously not working! See your health-care provider immediately even if the “voices” in your head tell you not to.
Oh, wait, is that restraining order your health-care provider obtained against you still in effect? Bummer!
Do the “voices” in your head sound like Meg Ryan or Billy Crystal or both? That may be important information for your health-care provider…
Props. That was funny.
Folks … IMHO we’re off the real focus.
It not the d@mn gift. It’s the disrespect shown regarding the cancellation of the Press conference at the airport and the lethargic Mr Prez at the presser at the oval office.
It’s about substance NOT stuff.
Good catch! I forgot about that. I will add it to my list of links.
Now would you please link a similar post/criticism and an analogous list of comments to restore my faith in the objective reporting of the WaPo?
