Mattera: It is our “goddamned” business

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 11, 2009 11:27 AM

In the DC Examiner: Jason Mattera talks back to Charlie Rangel.

If Rangel had an “R” by his name instead of a “D,” you’d be hearing and reading about his profane, arrogant snit fit all over the news.

Other than blogs and Fox News…radio silence.

The more I see this stuff coming out of D.C. the more I start to think maybe I’m living in the wrong country. But when I try to come up with an alternative, I can’t think of any. The entire world economy and social and political community is tied to the U.S.

As they say, when the U.S. economy sneezes the world economy catches cold. So when the U.S. Government gets bloated with pork rinds, the world gets gas?

Unless we can figure a way to take our country back from the politicians of both parties, we are sooo screwed.

Unfortunately one day, someone is going to figure out the shortcut in the process, and when they do, the floodgates will open.

And that will be a very bad day for America.

Screw it, lets shut down Guantanamo. Side note: Has anyone fgured out why we are always publishing info on ‘former Gitmo detainees? We always know where they are and what their new names/jobs are. Does anyone else think that maybe we put a GPS tracking device inside of them? heh, maybe they are our new DARPA field testers.

“I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party, generally.

This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.”

A Republican gets smeared when he says something other people don’t understand, like that Republican who used the word “Niggardly.” A Republican gets smeared for honoring another Republican, like when Trent Lott honored Strom Thurmond.
The Lame Stream Media will make up reasons to smear Republicans if necessary.

Rangel should call the press up and ask them why they won’t cover this. Then he should call them out for being racist and setting low expectations based on his race. If I were a black man I would feel pandered to by how this has been handled.

Does the press think that blacks are not fully men? Does the Democratic Party still stuck on the 3/5ths rule?

An interesting observation. Perhaps it was not that Harry Reid smelled something when he was with the taxpaying citizens stinking masses, but that there was a definitive lack of stink from the absence of politicians.

Maybe the fresh air affected his thinking?

I gotta agree, though the Repubs haven’t done much to earn it. This country’s moderate “swing” voters might finally realize by then that the Dems lost control in 1994 for a reason!

I’m disassociating myself from both these craptastic parties from here on out.

An end to gerrymandering and the introduction of the Congress Needs an Enema Act(i.e., term limits), an end to unfunded mandates, and a 80% reduction in federal spending are desperately needed, but no one, save one or two House members, has the cajones to do anything worthwhile.

Actually, the most famous and publicized example of this was when a white (and gay-if that matters) aide to DEMOCRAT Mayor of D.C. ANthony Williams got “in hot water” for using the word. Cooler (and smarter) heads eventually prevailed. BUt no, it wasn’t a Republican who used the word niggardly.

If representative-for-life Charlie Rangel were answerable to anyone, let alone the rule of law, he’d currently be fighting for his freedom in court.

The fact is, he ISN’T answerable to anyone on Earth, not even the president. His attitude is of a feudal lord, and Jason Mattera is a mere serf. It is only a matter of time when Lord Charlie will be able to round up heretical miscreants like Jason Mattera, and have them drawn and quartered.

There is something obscenely wrong when the media sits idly-by while elected officials in “our” government verbally abuse and sometimes man-handle their constituents – and just for asking the questions that need to be asked.

When VP Cheney had his fluff-up on the Senate floor with a smug, overbearing Democrat, that sure got the play – and that was just a verbal exchange between two fellow members of government – yet incidents like this go virtually unnoticed in the MSM. Why?

There’s something wrong w/ this picture.

Sure, however, even with Bunning’s incident, there are more hits to news articles about it. I’ll grant you that he did it with more reporters around.

My comment wasn’t so much directed at you for a misinterpreted Tu Quoque (I know that wasn’t your intent), but to point out that the Republican you mentioned had apologized for his tone even if he was justified in not releasing that information.

I don’t believe that Rangel regrets his tone at all and would do it again given opportunity.
