My syndicated column today takes a close look at the documents obtained by the invaluable Judicial Watch pertaining to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s military travel demands. There were some real gems buried in the FOIA records release. I zeroed in on Pelosi’s diva request in December 2008 to have the military reposition a military jet from San Francisco Airport to Travis Air Force base so she wouldn’t have to drive an hour and half.
Reading through the e-mail exchanges between DoD officials and Pelosi’s staff, you can’t help but feel very, very sorry for the men and women in uniform who have to put up with this woman — and even sorrier for all of us taxpayers who are footing her carbon footprint-expanding bills.

Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is the Jennifer Lopez of congressional travel – fickle, demanding, and notoriously insensitive to the time, costs, and energy needed to accommodate her endless demands. On Tuesday, the indispensable government watchdog Judicial Watch released a trove of public records through the Freedom of Information Act on Pelosi’s travel arrangements with the U.S. military.
As Speaker of the House, Pelosi is entitled to a reasonable level of military protection and transport. But it’s the size of the planes, the frequency of requests and last-minute cancellations, and the political nature of many of her trips that scream out for accountability.
And, of course, it’s the double-barreled hypocrisy. There’s the eco-hypocrisy of the Democrat leader who wags her finger at the rest of us for our too-big carbon footprints and crusades for massive taxes and regulation to reduce global warming. Then there’s the Bay Area hypocrisy of the woman who represents one of the most anti-military areas of the country soaking up military resources to shuttle her (and her many family members) across the country almost every weekend.
Remember: Pelosi’s San Francisco is notorious for banning the Marines’ Silent Drill Platoon from filming a recruitment commercial on its streets; killing the JROTC program in the public schools; blocking the retired battleship U.S.S. Iowa from docking in its waters; and attacking the Navy’s Blue Angels – which left-wing activists have tried to banish from northern California skies for the past two years.
Apparently, those anti-war protesters have no problem with evil military jets currying Pelosi and her massive entourages to the funerals of the late Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Charlie Norwood; foreign junkets to Rome; and politicized stops to Iowa flood sites to bash the Bush administration. One exasperated Department of Defense official, besieged with itinerary changes and shuttle requests back and forth between San Francisco Airport to Andrews Air Force Base for Pelosi, her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild, wrote in an e-mail:
“They have a history of canceling many of their past requests. Any chance of politely querying [Pelosi's team] if they really intend to do all of these or are they just picking every weekend?…[T]here’s no need to block every weekend ‘just in case’…”
Another official pointed out the “hidden costs” associated with the speaker’s last minute changes and cancellations. “We have…folks prepping the jets and crews driving in (not a short drive for some), cooking meals and preflighting the jets etc.” Upset that a specific type of aircraft was not available to her boss, a Pelosi staffer carped to the DoD coordinators: “This is not good news, and we will have some very disappointed folks, as well as a very upset [s]peaker.”
Three months ago, turmoil erupted over Queen Nancy’s demand for the military to reposition her plane to fly out of Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Calif., closer to where she had “business,” instead of San Francisco Airport/SFO (1.5 hours away). A special air missions official wrote: “We have never done this in the past. The deal is…that the Speaker shuttle is from DC to SFO and back. We will not reposition. We do not reposition for convenience even for the SECDEF. It is not [too] far of a drive from Travis to SFO. Did the escort suggest to the Speaker that this is ok? If so, I hope you guys correct them immediately. If you agree with me that I am correct, then you need to stay strong and present the facts to the Speaker’s office.”
Another official stated bluntly: “We can’t reposition the airplane such a short distance. It is not a judicial use of the asset. It is too expensive to operate the jet when there is truly no need to do so.”
A beleaguered colleague responded: “[Y]ou know I understand and feel with you…but, this is a battle we are bound to lose if we tell the speaker office. In the end, this is what will happen…I wish that I could say this is a one-time request, but we know it will probably happen again in the future.”
In the end, the military won that battle. But a few days later, Pelosi was back with a new demand: that her military plane taking her from DC to San Francisco make a stop in New Jersey to bring her and three Democrats to an “innovation Forum” at Princeton University involving 21 participants and no audience. A Gulfstream jet was secured for the important “official business.”
No word on whether Pelosi required vanilla-scented candles, Evian water, and fresh white lilies aboard the flight. But rest assured: Air Diva traveled in style, courtesy of your tax dollars and the forbearance of the U.S. military.

if there is so much as the tiniest scratch on an engine cowl, only the chief mechanic should be allowed to check and note flight worthiness. of course that would involve some delays but her highness must have the highest standards available. and then the runways need an eyes on inspection and of course each flight within close vicinity of her aircraft must also have notice and needed discussion with each flight crew to be certain of the absoluetly safest flight and then all weather stations on the flight path must be contacted to judge if…..etc

Ugh!!! I had really hoped to not see or hear about Pelosi on my birthday. I won’t be able to stomach the ice cream cake this evening! It’s a bonus kick in the butt that Big O signed the omnibus lard bill today. Things have to get better…right?
I think I overstated that a bit…she is known for having a large rear end, butt every time I’ve seen her in a movie or singing, it always looked about right to me.

For all we know, Obama dropped out of Occidental College, never really attended Columbia, and got into Harvard Law with recommendations, phony transcripts, and arab financing all arranged by (then fugitive) Bill Ayers.
While Obama had classmates at Occidental and Harvard, no one seems to ever have been his classmate at Columbia.
Show us the transcripts from Occidental and Columbia.
Or, are those sealed because they would show that Soetoro-Obama came to Occidental as an Indonesian citizen? Or that he flunked out at Occidental? Or that he never really attended Columbia?

The 757 (C-32) is a red herring…only meant to distract from the real issue.
Pelosi wasn’t happy with using the same plane as her predecessor, becuase it had to stop for refuelling. She and her staff demanded a more expensive aircraft that could make the trip without refuelling. And when told that the Gulstream V (”G5″) aircraft were not available, her staff said Pelosi would want to know where those planes were… i.e., who in the government was using them… the implication being that Pelosi would then try to pull “rank” on them or otherwise put pressure on them to give up the aircraft in order for her to use it.
I notice that Travis Air Force Base, near Fairfield, California, and Vacaville, California was mentioned.
I was stationed at Travis Air Force Base back in 1969 and 1970. After surgery (not related to combat) that I underwent at David Grant Medical Center, the base hospital there, which, at the time, was a green, multi-floor building atop the hill at the back of the base, I was given leave to visit my family who, at the time, lived in Montgomery County, PA.
I tried to “hitch” a military flight back (military transport, or hop) to the East coast. I finally caught one which was traveling back to South Carolina. We waited about seven extra hours for the C-141 Starlifter, a cargo plane which was fitted with rear facing seats for the personnel on board, to take off from Travis Air Force Base to take us as far as South Carolina. When we tried to land in South Carolina one or more engines were not working properly. They tried to touch down numerous times over what seemed like an hour or two. There was quite a bit of activity on the aircraft, with an officer repeatedly walking to the rear of the aircraft, then back to the front, and back to the rear, and so on and so on, ad nauseum, all while hearing a high pitched, loud whining sound, off and on. It took us a very long time to land. When we did land the flight line was full of ambulances and fire engines. Apparently the “problem” with the aircraft was serious enough to call for the precaution of the medical and fire control emergency vehicles.
Anyway, we survived the flight unscathed, and I had to find a way to continue on from South Carolina all the way up to the Philadelphia, PA area.
I read about Nancy Pelosi, and other self absorbed, Holier-than-Though, Let-them-eat-Cake political elitists treating the military, and the common man or woman, as surfs, slaves, servants, or whatever, and it reminds me of the lack of morals, values, courtesy, and humility that many people exhibit in their daily lives.
For several years I have found Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, an unpleasant, mean spirited character. Her behavior in this air travel regard does not disappoint, but actually reinforces her nasty image, and even expands on it. I am surprised that a person with her qualities has achieved the position of two heart beats away from the presidencey (President, 1 – Vice President, 2 – Speaker of the House). Then, again, she is from a screwy area where people have weir lifestyles, and distorted values.
To Nancy and her ilk, she is royalty and she knows she can get away with it, while the taxpayer, the “common man or woman” is nothing but floor mat upon which to wipe her feet. Her hatred of the military, and her about face when it comes to using them for her own personal goals, speaks volumes to how arrogant, condescending, and down right disrespectful and self centered a person can become.
I won’d took to Government to find an example of goodness, humility, courtesy, and respect.
One more perspective: G3, G4, G5:
Hastert used an Air Force C-20B, a small 12-seater based on the Gulfstream III (”G3“), to travel to his home district in Illinois.
Ford and GM auto executives travel in the slightly larger Gulfstream IV (”G4“).
Pelosi and her staff demanded a Gulstream V (”G5“), but want to deceive the public into believing that she travels on a G3 “as her Republican predecessor did”.
With all of the heat the auto executives received for flying on G4, will the MSM give Pelosi any heat for demanding a G5?
No, of couse not. She’s a Democrat[ic Socialist].

Is anyone at all surprised to hear her heinous is making such demands and then throwing a tantrum when she doesn’t get her way?
Is anyone surprised that they are even attempting to equate what she is doing and/or wanting to do with what Hastert did?
Now, I can fully understand the need for the person who is third in line to be President needing to obtain transportation on a military aircraft, but why is it OUR…the American taxpaying public’s…responsibility to foot the bill for her family and extended family’s transportation?
Why should we be expected to pay to have her daughter-in-law and grandchild, or anyone else other than her and maybe her husband flown all over the country, whether they fly with her or not? Seems to me that SHE is the person who needs to worry about terrorists in order to maintain our Government. Should anything happen to the others in her family, while it would be a tragedy, it would have absolutely NO effect on the way this country is run. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that says the family members of anyone in Congress or the Oval Office will have any effect on the Government at all, thus there is no need for us, the American taxpayer, to provide them any special transportation period.
And why does she require a Gulfstream 5 to get anywhere? If all she needs is a military transport, then she should not be expecting to fly in anything other than what our men and women in uniform travel in. She should drive her wrinkly, saggy butt to Andrews, get on the first C5 flying out to Travis and be grateful for the privilege. Heck, the Load Masters will even bring her some coffee or sodas and some snacks once the plane is airborne and everything.
Yet there are all the usual Liberals that are whining and claiming that she deserves this special treatment, while at the same time complaining that CEO’s and other leaders of industry should have to ground their personal or company planes and fly Commercial.
If you ask me, if we, the American taxpayer, have to foot the bill, she can take what she gets and like it, making her family either pay for their transport on a military plane, pending regular military stand-by rules, (Sorry, but I feel that anyone serving this country should be allowed ahead of her family…who have done NOTHING to earn a position on any military aircraft) or fly commercial.
If commercial aircraft is safe enough for all of us, then why is it not safe enough for Nanci Pelosi? What is she ultimately trying to tell us? Is there something she knows that we don’t? Are the skies over the United States no where near as safe as she and the rest of the Democrats have been telling us they are?
And if, as the Liberals and Democrats and other Anti-American creeps tell us, there is no terrorist threat in the first place, then why should she need a military transport at all? After all, her good buddy and supporter Michael Moore and other Hollywood intelligentsia, are on record stating that there are no terrorists. Islam is a peaceful, peace loving religion, and all those attacks were nothing more than “extremists” acting out against Bush. Since she is not Bush and has demonstrated time and time again her support of and unification with Islam and all those poor, downtrodden, misunderstood, innocents in GitMo, she most definitely should have absolutely NOTHING to worry about by flying coach on a Commercial plane.
Nanci Pelosi has two things that need to be done IMMEDIATELY. She needs to publicly apologize to the Air Force and any and all members therein that had to either deal directly with her or any member of her staff for making all those demands and for treating any and all of them like they were her personal servants. In that apology, she must make it clear that she understands that SHE WORKS FOR THEM…NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND
Second, she needs to stop having us pay for her family and friends to fly ANYWHERE. If she needs to fly in a military aircraft, she needs to use whatever aircraft they have available, be kind and courteous to the flight crew as well as anyone else involved in her transportation, and cease any and all extra demands and special treatments that has been going on.
The most ethical Congress in history? Please, these Democrats and Liberals are worse than the French Monarchy and wealthy of the late 18th century. Have we not had enough? Stop making excuses and apologizing for their awful, horrible behavior. They work for us. They are there to serve us, and it is time that we, the American Taxpayer, find a way to remind them exactly where their place in this society and country is.

You are right. Anything that the Dems get called on, the simply spit this out and that is supposed to not only end the complaint, but make what they are doing OK.
Instead, what this is demonstrating is that the Dems actually DO know that the issue is wrong and should not be done, yet they are going to do it anyway.
The real problem is that these Dems obviously had horrendous parents who did not raise decent, law abiding, ethical, honest children. They see something wrong, and instead of avoiding it, doing the right thing etc., they still do the wrong thing and attempt to rationalize/justify their actions.
If they had decent parents…You know, like a father who is not a philandering, adulterous womanizer who abandons their child and wife to persue his own selfish wants and desires and/or a mother who abandons their children and dumps them off on her own parents in order to devote her time and emotions on some other man and their new children, maybe they would have said, “If the Republicans jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?” or even the more direct, “Two wrongs do not make a right”.

Now why would you have thought I was referring to Der Fuhrer. Did you think I would ever speak ill of his saintly mother and saintly father? How could ANYONE speak ill of a man who was such an inspirational human being that his own son would allow someone to ghostwrite an autobiography with the title, “Dreams From My Father”? This was a man who did not abandon his wife and child to pursue his own selfish desires or for another woman…it was that damn racism from Obama’s own typically white grandmother that ruined his parents storybook romance, along with B’s grandfather from Kenya who did not want his oh so noble bloodline sullied by that foul white woman. See, it had absolutely NOTHING to do with hsi mother divorcing him over his bigamous dual life. It was that damn racism…it is destroying lives and families…when, oh when Lord…when will we learn?
Had it not been for that accursed racism, maybe Der Fuhrer could have stayed a Kenyan and partaken in his father’s wealth and status that came with that new career as a top civil servant in the new Kenyan government…wealth that included some snazzy new wheels, a good salary, another wife, more kids…
It was racism that drove his father to drinking and driving, costing him his legs and ultimately his life.
The man was a saint…A SAINT I tell you. And racism robbed him of his loving wife and son. How can you even THINK I would be referring to the Liberals “Joseph” in such a manner.
Or his mother for Pete’s sake. Here was a woman of strength and of real character. Here is a woman who, by 18, has already married twice. Both times to foreigners, demonstrating an incredible strength and moral turpitude, thumbing her nose at modern conventions, defying her own mother’s terrible, terrible racism by marrying men of color both times. This is a woman who let nothing stand in her way. Not even her own children. Why, she would even sacrifice her own time with her first born so that she could make something of herself and devote her love and energy to the younger children she had, knowing that her eldest would be better off with those horrible, horrible racists in Hawaii. She made sure that before that, Der Fuhrer would receive all the best education that Islam could give him. She made sure that he had a choice between being an American and being a British Citizen, or even Indonesian or any number of countries in which they lived.
A SAINT I tell you.
How DARE anyone spit on their names or memories. They made our glorious leaser into what and who he is. They showed the world that a child does not need a stable home, both parents, a life free of the burden of responsibility or love. He can be raised without all of those things and still become the President of the United States.
Truly inspirational. I just wish more parents would learn from this example and get divorces, marry numerous times and abandon anyone or anything that gets in the way of themselves, their happiness and their romances…even their own children. Yes, truly it is we who have been doing it wrong all along.

~I want a future Conservative President who immediately upon taking office relegates all members of government other than those whose jobs REQUIRE intense security or who are literally AT THAT MOMENT carrying state secrets on their person to fly commercial or hop the next military aircraft headed out.
~I want members of the house and senate to buy their OWN damn lunches, like we peons do. They dont need drivers, either. Or Cadillacs, unless they pay for them.
~No more junkets to far off exotic lands unless they are an absolute necessity, in which case there is a max of “necessary cases” that can be had per year. No spouses, children, handmaidens, etc.
~ALL non security emails should be placed on the public record immediately, especially when they pertain to requests that involve the demands for perks at taxpayer expense.
~CLEAR rules for what is considered pork will be drawn up immediately, and if presented or snuck into the bill, the one who proposed it will be immediately and publically chastised. Or fired. AFTER being humiliated.
~Our Military men and women will ALWAYS be given priority flights, seating, preferential treatment when travelling in uniform.
~An IMMEDIATE scientific study to determine when life begins from a SCIENTIFIC standpoint will be undertaken. Based on that decision, abortion law will be rewritten. We will never again tolerate the Doctor Tiller’s and Carhart’s of the world. We will disallow prenatal death-selection for disability as surely as we would disallow it for race or sex. The abortion rate for prenatally diagnosed babies with Down syndrome would drop from it’s current 95% PLUS rate.
~The tax code would be scrapped and rewritten. If you do not work, you do not receive ANY benefits, unless you are severely disabled, elderly, or ill. Small businesses would get tax breaks that would allow them to hire more employees. Employees would be REQUIRED to prove they are Americans.
~A fence would be erected around the entire US of A, barbed wire facing out.
~There would be an immediate roundup of ALL (no Auntie exceptions, either) illegals in the US, they would be immediately deported. I dont care what their hardship is, if they are here illegally.
~Anyone who ever stomped on, burned or spit on our flag would immediately face prosecution. That also goes for anyone who would harrass or threaten any member of our military, including those being buried. Disrupting the funeral of said military person would be considered treason.
~Schools would immediately stop teaching the liberal agenda. professors who taught anti-Americanism would be fired.
~American car makers would be required to hire AMERICAN workers, at a reasonable and FAIR rate of pay, if they want ANY tax breaks or Govt help.
