Terrific: Tax-subsidized ACORN mob teams up with L.A. teachers

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 11, 2009 05:24 AM

As if ACORN’s shakedown artists and thugs weren’t causing enough trouble, now they’re occupying public school board meeting rooms to prevent government educators from cutting costs, firing useless teachers, and dealing with financial realities.

This is now the second “civil disobedience” campaign waged by the entitlement-mongers.

Our Community Organizer-in-Chief, who spoke so voluminously yesterday about education reform, was unavailable for comment…

A school board meeting turned into a display of civil disobedience Tuesday as about 50 educators refused to leave, creating a brief standoff with police, who refused to make any arrests in the presence of media.

The members of ACORN and United Teachers Los Angeles — all wearing bright red shirts — entered the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education meeting on Tuesday afternoon, sat down and began chanting.

Police said the protesters were staging an illegal occupation of a public building. The district said no arrests would occur as long as members of media were in building.

UTLA President A.J. Duffy approached the speakers’ lectern and told the board, “You know why we’re here. You know I’m not leaving this rostrum. You know I’m going to keep talking.”

As he spoke several teachers sat on the floor in front of the board and held up signs saying “Students lose when we lose teachers, No layoffs” as the crowd began chanting.

Board President Monica Garcia repeatedly asked Duffy to sit down, but he kept speaking. The microphone was turned off, but Duffy continued to speak and the chanting continued. Garcia then announced that the “disturbance has interrupted our meeting to the point where the orderly conduct of this meeting is not feasible.”

The teachers union, all of the state’s unions, are a big reason why California is bankrupt. Actually, a district like LA could keep all of its teachers and improve facilities if they stopped teaching all of the children illegally in their county.

The unions ran huge ad campaigns against Schwarzenegger’s reform measures. All of the propositions were common sense and took power away from the unions. The unions banded together and drove a multi million ad campaign lying about the propositions. Californians, of course, bought it without checking the facts. The props failed. Scharzenegger knew there was no way to win, so he went along with them to make sure he got reelected.

Californians have no one to blame but themselves. Let the unions implode, glad to see ACORN pushing the failure of the largest state economy in the union. Republicans need to start campaigning by showing the failure of California and compare and contrast Sacramento to Washington D.C. Let people know, we are embarking on the whole country being broke like California.

I’m sure it is a law, but the protesters were sucessful in shutting down the meeting. Beyond getting arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, any paid teacher/staffer involved in the protest should be placed on unpaid leave, pending administrative action. I’m sure the court would reduce the charges… probably to community service. What a vicious cycle. They’d be forced to work with ACORN.

Everyone passes until they get to 12th grade (most quit at that point or before). Where I was, there was a 90% dropout rate. Los Angeles is filled with mostly illiterate people.
When I started teaching in Texas, I was told to pass almost every student, no matter what. I could give no grade lower than a 50. Public school is horrible almost everywhere. Home school your kids if you can, get to private school if you can afford it.

Sales of passenger cars, buses and trucks climbed to 827,600, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said today in Beijing. The tally in the first two months rose 2.7 percent to 1.56 million, compared with a 39 percent decline to 1.35 million in the U.S.

Reality challenged doesn’t quite get it. More like a different reality, which is of course in itself, unreal.

At the risk of getting TXGator on a roll. Public education and the LA teachers union are epic fail. 40% of their graduates are functionally illiterate, so they want more money.

The more I hear things like this, the more I believe we should insist that Southern California leave the union. Seriously. Just the southern portion of the state where the majority are illegal aliens anyway. And Hollywood! They do not have any of the values that this country was founded on, and has been our foundation for over 200 years. Their entire belief system is in complete opposition to a decent, moral society. They are bringing the rest of the country down. Anyone who wants to leave that part of the state should relocate to the north or another state by a certain date. Then, shut them down. And build a wall. If they want to do business with the U.S., they will have to do it as a foreign country and all that entails.

Me Darlin’ and I were discussing this self-same issue into the wee hours of the eventide as we reviewed the Book of Esther, as our folk are wont to do at this time of year.

    We discussed the following:

    1. The circumstances of today so mirror 1930’s Germany it is spooky. Rising unemployment, a war that many liberals did not understand (like they really understand issues more complicated than right-shoe-right-foot; left-shoe-left-foot), rising prices, falling-to-near-zero return on investments…and the looking for a scapegoat for it all (Rush, rich people, Right-Wing-Christian Extremists and, in some circles – the ever popular “Evil Joose”.)

    2. The rise to power of a group of people with Fascist Ideals. Notice the similarity of Hitler (a small time criminal) to Obama (a petty thief, er, Chicago attorney and minor polititian). Look at their cast of characters: Goebbels/Pelosi; Goring/Reid; Roehm/Hastings; Hess/Clinton; Heydrich-Himmler/Rahmbo. (Some players seem to shape-shift, but you’ll get the idea…soon.)

    3. The Sheeple mentality of much of the country. The prevailing idea: “As long as I get mine, all is right with the world and everyone else be d*mned.”

    4. The imperviousness of the upper leadership to negative opinions and the efforts of the leaders to shift blame from their policies and actions to others – including prior administrations. (This is so much more pronounced in this administration which makes it worth mentioning here.)

    5. The insulting and snubbing of Great Britian…I am *sure* The One would not actually bomb the Island. Maybe the DVDs was a simbolic “bombing”?

    Happy Purim!

The O’s eating of Wagyu beef is a great example. What makes it tasty is all that FAT – it is “well marbled” and, if you carefully observe, not all the folks in Congress are svelte and shapely. Oh – and another happy thought – melanine-gifted folk should be careful of their fats – could pre-dispose them to stroke, heart attacks and other nastiness – especially if they smoke.

They are also great genealogists and my cousin has given me a ton of information. She is really a great person and we have corresponded for years. Our Mormon connection goes back to the 1700’s when our common ancestor had 16 kids. I am descended from one who got us to Minnesota and Christianity. She is descended from one who grew up with, and played as a child with, Joseph Smith in Sharon, Vermont and followed him to Illinois, and then met Brigham Young and followed him to Utah, where this cousin currently lives. And by the way, she has given me the information that shows Orin Hatch is my 8th cousin, once removed. Ugh.
