Tea Party update: Revolution is brewing

Eric Odom reports that there are now 115 cities signed up for the April 15 nationwide Tax Day Tea Party protest. Wow. If you haven’t signed up, want to start your own, and are looking to meet up and organize with other tax revolters, go to Tax Day Tea Party’s website here.

Here’s a quick how-to guide.

#dontgo has opened up a Tax Day Tea Party store. Buy some swag, share with friends, spread the word.

Stay tuned to the Fresh Tea blog, where you can meet organizers from across the country. Check in with TCOT Report and Smart Girl Politics for more grass-roots organizing.

(On a parallel track, fellow Fox News colleague Glenn Beck has spearheaded “We Surround Them” parties scheduled across the country today. I’m hearing from lots of first-time activists who have found overlapping networks. The same principles that unite the “We Surround Them” effort also are in sync with the tax revolters. Synergy is good. We need every body and mind in motion we can get.)

    Few disagree with that but it is a big leap to go straight from complacency to armed revolt. I’m an ardent gun owner myself and acutely aware of the criminal element prowling our streets but I am far from resorting to armed insurrection. It is not why I own guns.

    If people are finally upset enough to leave their comfy sofas to do something, let’s exhaust the democratic avenues first and not make a beeline to armaggedon.

    As far as insurrection, there will not be a coup moment or anything that will get people outraged enough to endanger their comfy lifestyles. It will be more like Chavez. A little healthcare here. Wage and price controls there. That entity is too big to fail, the government needs to run it. The next thing you know, we become France. Once these programs get implemented, they never go away.

    Absolutely! It’s long and the first half is a bit depressing, but the second half more than makes up for it.

    I get depressed when people argue that we can’t make a difference. I say “We MUST make a difference! If we want America back, if we want our employees in Washington DC to start working for US – We the People – we have no other choice but to start small and keep it growing.

    Thank you Michelle for all you are doing towards this effort. It’s Herculean in our effort. For too long we’ve sat around saying “what can we do?”

    My answer in the other thread was a rather long OT post, so in consideration of MM I’ll not stink-up her board by replicating my convoluted cacklings… ;)

    He’s not doing much of a political stripe right now… he finds writing difficult (fine motor function), and reading the blogs sends him into a funk. He’s basically buried himself The Scriptures & his library — which is pretty good sized. When he & StepMom PCS move & they pack *his* library[grin] the count is 500 boxes of books. Most of those (4/5ths) are history and civilization, 2/3rds of those are US History, Military History (prior WWI) and Bios of various Historic Figures.

    When he’s not reading he’s pushing his rehab. He works atleast 2x as long at rehab than they ask of him — indeed, if StepMom didn’t ride him to rest, I think he’d work himself to collapse. And, if she wasn’t a surgeon (and his wife) I doubt he’d listen… as it is, he won’t listen to anyone else about it.
