The Cincinnati Tea Party organizers told us it was going to be big. And it was. Organizer J. Binik-Thomas e-mails this evening that 5,000 folks turned out for the protest and more than 1,600 people signed a petition to ask local governments to reject porkulus funding.
Check out photos at Instapundit, including this aerial:

What are you doing? Go to Tax Day Tea Party and get moving!

Unlike the Los Angeles Times, the Cincinnati Enquirer actually covered the tax revolters without trashing them:
Thousands of people filled Fountain Square this afternoon for the Cincinnati Tea Party, a grassroots-effort designed to show their disapproval for bailouts and the massive federal stimulus plan.
People wore Revolution-era costumes and raised anti-bailout signs with messages like “Give us Liberty, not debt” and “No more bailouts.”
Sean Lynch was one of thousands who navigated the crowd.
“I’m frustrated with the way things are going in Congress. They need to remember that they work for us, and right now, we don’t approve,” said Lynch, of Colerain. “This is not a Democrat thing or a Republican thing. It’s a government thing.”
Lynch brought his children to the demonstration and hoped that one day, when they’re older, they’ll understand the importance of taking a stand. His 8-year-old, Isabel, held a “Stop spending my allowance” sign and 5-year-old Kate raised a “Stay out of my piggy bank” one.
“I don’t think anything is going to change overnight,” Lynch said. “But this is a start.”

From reader Shannon:
Hello, Michelle!
Huge fan, and really appreciate the coverage you have given to the Cincinnati Tea Party. My family attended today — me, my husband, and my three children (10 year old boy, 7 year old girl, and 5 year old boy). Thousands were on Fountain Square today — lots of energy, lots of passion…. it was evident that everyone — my husband and I included — are not your “usual suspects” in demonstrations. We are all usually too busy earning our livings…. but we have been angered well beyond words.
Very disappointed that only one of our main news channels is covering the rally…. disappointed, but not surprised! Thank goodness for you, Glenn Beck and Fox News!!!
Just wanted you to hear from another attendee!

Michelle, we had HUNDREDS turn out for Glenn Beck’s program on Friday, and all have us have vowed to stay in contact. My SMIA meeting on Saturday reiterated our commitment to the “cause”, and will be attending our San Antonio Tea Party on April 15th. Those of who are bloggers will be covering these events, even if MSM, or the “drive-by media” choose not to do so!
Thank you for all you do! May God bless you mightily!
This tax revolt I feel is just starting. As we get nearer to April 15th, the trillions of dollars being thrown down a bottomless pit will enrage more and more voters.
Great news. Maybe now Rick Moran will deign to grace the tea parties with his support.
We are having one in Orlando March 21. I will be there.
Freedomworks.org
I wonder when the Tianamen-style Obama police show up to “put us all in our place!”
I’m very surprised to see that so many turned out in Cincinnati.
I’ve been under the impression the city is not red-friendly.
Bravo! Cincinnati, good job and keep it rolling…we are so proud of you.
Yea, flmom – Rick has his moments. He’ll come around when he thinks it’s safe.
Had an interesting conversation with my accountant last week. He said he’s getting vibs that people are just waiting for something to happen. There is no confidence. It’s not tied to the economy, because there is nothing they can do about that on an individual basis. And, he thinks we’re only half way to the bottom of this pit we’ve dug outselves. Hmmm, interesting. I feel the same way. Still stocking up on supplies and worried. One interruption in our transportation distribution of critical items and the whole thing will crash.
‘Bambi is not going to listen to anyone. His agenda is being dictated from higher planes, and his agenda is set. We must wake people up.
Unlike our gracious hostess, who puts herself front and center. Having the courage of your convictions is a very admirable trait.
Downtown and the immediately outlying areas are not. There is also much blue in the academic area (Univ of Cincinnati-Clifton area) and in some affluent white-guilt areas. All this made the county encompassing Cincinnati (Hamilton) go slightly blue for Obmama this past election.
That said, there are still plenty of conservatives in the suburbs and a very large number in the three counties that circle Cincinnati (Butler–Boehner’s district), Mason, and Clermont county.
I took my kids to see George Bush at Voice of America Park when he visted Mason, OH. Bush also visited the Golden Lamb in Lebanon, OH after 9/11. That is where the picture of him hugging the young girl who lost her mother on 9/11 was taken. Huge crowds both times. OH is very conservative in the suburbs. Boehner was our guy.
We need to take our own “conservative” census…county by county.
And bust ACORN’s next voter registration power grab….
Wondering, in the next election will there be a chance to discard all those phony voter registrations that appeared last minute during the 08 Presidential election?
Just a thought.
Nice to see conservatives out in the open rattling lil bHo and Soros’ chains.
They wont win.
Millions of us are greater than MoveOn.org.
Anyday of the week.
Bear1909 out.
PS: Chief Justice John Roberts has been apprised of his clerking staffs shenanigans at the SCOTUS office in DC not filing briefs on lil bHo’s eligibility hearings. Stay tuned. Sign the petition. Revolt against the taxes and revolt agains lil bHo and George Soros’ usurpation of the POTUS office.
Just went to Glenn’s site and had an idea.
Have small, well behaved groups follow the reporters and film crew around at each tea party and politely challenge them on their slanted coverage. Ask them why they are over sampling Dems/Obama supporters?
Theses challengers can be known as Tea-porters.
Can’t wait for Denver’s party 5/15!
The turnout does not surprise me.
The Cincinnati area is conservative even if the city itself is overrun with liberals.
bear, where do we go to sign our lil’ john henry’s on a petition?
We’ve got an Attorney General who has been involved with similar activities before and the out right lied about what happened.
Remember this?: Obama Attorney General Nominee Eric Holder Helped Enable 2000 Elian Gonzalez Seizure
Here’s the “n” I left out of my previous post. See if you can tell where it belongs.

duh1 is a “Manchurian Candidate”.
There were more than 6000 people there, and the only tv crew to attend fled for their safety when the evil dangerous middle aged conservatives surrounded them cursing and spitting. I’m not kidding, that’s what the tv reporter lead with. I say it was a fantastic turnout and event I’ll always be glad I went to.
I’d like to see this movement keep going until it spills into Chicago, blocks Harpo Studios, and attracts more than a million protestors!
How do we know this isn’t someones attempt to get our e-mail address so they can spam the heck out of us? What is the chance anyone who can do anything about it will ever see the petition or actually do something about it?
OT, Just ran outside and watched space shuttle Discovery blast off into the sky, saw it here clear as day, we’re four hours away. I still get goosebumps watching it go up. I remember my dad waking me up at 3 am in England to watch the first Apollo space flight in 1968.
My jaw will be wired shut {TMJ surgery 30 March}, but unless the surgeons absolutely forbid me, I’ll be @ Houston’s version 15 April – may not do too well with chanting, but I WILL be able to offer moral support ………………….

DM,
Good luck with the surgery. Should be ice cream time. If you can be in Houston, give the Semper Fi’.

Even more surprising, I bet, to the libs since Ohio has been badly hurt in the past decade. I’m sure they must believe that everyone there is anxiously awaiting their federal money.
Las Vegas, April 15th. Can’t wait.
OUTSTANDING!!!! How long do you think it will be until the MSM finally stops ignoring and/or downplaying this and the way people are rejecting Der Fuhrer?
If anyone is going to the Northern California TP on the 15th of April at the Capital, let me know.
Way to go good citizens of Ohio! The Tea Parties continue to grow, Idaho has one planned for 15 Apr 09 at 1400 hrs (2:00 PM for your civilians) on the State Capital steps. I just might have to knock off work early at the base and drive the 50+ miles to Boise with my Gadsen Flag. I might even be able to get Mrs. Boomer to join in another one of her civil disobedience displays. The last time she and some of the wives got together when stationed at March AFB she was instrumental in getting a 3 Star General fired (forced to retire) due to his and his dependents wide spread abuses of power. Let the revolution begin!
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE (mo-lone lah-veh) Translation: Come and take them!
I’ve heard conservatives ridicule these parties. But, they are growing and growing.
It will be like when all the who’s in whoville when they had to make as much noise as possible to be heard by the big people. The MSM, congress and The One won’t be able to deny it when they hear the noise.
I see that you and I are on the same page, MacEamonn .
I’ll be attending the Tax Day Tea Party in San Jose. And I hope to bring a bunch of friends with me!
That was the best one I’ve ever seen. You could clearly see both boosters and the shuttle after separation. The contrail was lit by the setting sun and glowed orange.
And to think, I spent the day countting senstive items.

Bear, muchos somethingorother. I’ll get it out to my circle of supporters. Surprised to hear our esteemed CJUSSC Roberts wasn’t aware his oh so capable clerks might not be timely in pushing through paper as fast as they should.
I used to stay very late to go through the in-baskets and drawers of my paper pushers. They had 24 hrs. to process a piece of paper – yes, they were union and were always shocked when presented with a pile of checks they hadn’t bothered to put-in-the-bank! It was the SODDI syndrome – Some Other Dude Did It. The union reps always agreed with me on a write-up.
Will be at our St Louis
04/15/09 tea party.
I have four signs, you’ll know me by this one.

Congrates to Cincinnati and all the other cities participants that have had Tea Parties, great encouragement for cities with a party in the planning. the silent majority is not quite so silent now…more like waking that great American free spirit.
Anyone notice the so called man for the folks Mr. Bill Oreally hasn’t mentioned the Tea Parties, with the exception of Collyvornia one, but that was more about the taxman than the Tea Party theme.
“legalized” theft. If anyone else did it, they would be in jail (Barnie, Chris)
Olympia, Washington. April 15th on the Capital building steps. Many of my friends and family were glad to see this one added. We’ll be there.
Wonder how long the MSM can ignore this. Not much longer I am thinking.
I was at the Cincinnati rally and I was proud of the attendance the behavior. However, our local media http://www.wcpo.com does not believe so. They left in “fear for their safety” of a small crowd gathering around a “crazy lady” Obama supporter. Trust me I was there and the reporter totally blew this out of proportion!
Well, with police officers being in a union – then it will probably be somewhere about the time that someone on Obama’s staff tells the unions that Obama’s fulfilled his end of the bargain, now its their turn.
Excellent!
April 15 should be a barn burner!!!
Dylan is just as relevant today as he was decades go: The Times are a Changin”
I put in for my vacation Friday. I will be in Baton Rouge April 15.
snowball
The fact that the mainstream media is deliberately not covering this, is just more proof of the corruption by the msm, and the bastardization of our free press system. There is one big conspiracy between dem politicians and the msm. How far is the press willing to go to being no more than a propaganda arm for a political party?? The MSM whores have sold their souls, and sold out their Country, for ideology.
Me and my buds are going to Louisville on April 15th to let our views be known.
If there are any Maine citizens on this blog, a tea party is being planned for the cities of Lewiston (aka: little Somalia) and Augusta (aka, Disgusta). Dates will be announced on WLOB AM.
This will also be an anti-Snow/Collins rally. I think just on that fact alone, it will be a HUGE event.
Michelle, I’ll be sure to get plenty of pics.
Oops. I mis-spelled my senator’s name. I should have spelled it: “Snowe-job”.
Sorry.
Oh, I forgot to mention…
Michelle, we’re trying to get some big names up here for our Maine Tea Party. We may be getting Todd Palin for the event. We’d love to have you if you’re willing and available.
This is gettin’ good! Makes me want to open my window and yell “I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!” (But I’ll go to Denver’s Tea Party instead.)
Let’s stage these rallies around television studios. If they STILL ignore us, we know beyond a shadow that they are now just Democrat Party operatives.
Awesome!! Great turnout! =)
Pioneer Square April 15, 2009,Portland, Oregon.
Well done and thank you to all those “protesters” (i.e. U.S. citizens who work for a living)! And congratulations on the huge turn out, God willing, I’ll be able to attend the Tea Party in Pittsburgh.
Wow! Excellent work people. These tea parties keep growing and there is no way even the MSM can ignore us.
My thoughts are similar to vickisoup.
When will the Black Muslims, Panthers, or whatever black nationalist thugs that want to protect “their” black President’s image show up and cause trouble?
My prediction is that not only will some vanilla color people get hurt and/or killed…….no one will be held accountable.
In addition to the Enquirer, here’s how the local TV stations covered it.
WLWT, Channel 5 (NBC)
WCPO, Channel 9 (ABC)
WKRC, Channel 12, (CBS) – no coverage
WXIX, Channel 19 (Fox)
Only WLWT and WCPO have comments. Click through to read them.
They probably won’t knowing that some, maybe even most, of us bitter, gun-clinging, religeous crackers are armed.
And it was Horton the elephant that heard the tiny sound…..
I’ll be at the Raleigh, NC Tea Party this weekend! They’re serving roasted pork! LOL! We need to keep the movement moving.
Here again is my tea party video, “We The People”. Pass it along and embed everywhere.

Then we see the start of another revolution. Liberals don’t own the exclusive right to protest our government, nor do they have the “right” not to have their image protected from scrutiny or criticism.
We can fight back.
Nothing could be finer
Than to be in Carolina
For a Bar-B-Que!
That thought has been in the back of my mind since the primaries. It’s a perfect storm excuse for the usual suspects to take to the streets.
Way to go Cincinnati!
And the photos with Obama’s Debt Star – fantastic!!
Are the protesters against taxes? Are all taxes socialist?
Or are they against deficits? Do they know that the last President to reduce the Debt was Clinton?
…who was forced to do so by the Republican controlled Congress…
over the weekend the local rag, post disgrace, announced that while residential real estate taxes would be going down due to decreased value, commercial real estate (businesses) would be going up by as much as 30%. why worry, tax the business out of business, but keep the gubmint and teachers employed. yes lgm, clinton did in fact reduce the deficit and the debt, but only after he had his congress replaced with a very conservative republican congress. so let’s see how this congress reduces the deficit, oh wait they tripled that in 55 days, or the debt, oh wait that is growing by leaps and bounds 10t to 12t in one year. that 10 trillion started in carters years, so 28 years to accumulate 10 t, 1 year to add 20% or 2t.
http://www.oddhammer.com/tutorials/debt_clock/US_debt_clock.swf
The debt clock for LGM.
Obama is the biggest spender in us history.
Today the MSM is trying to convince the public to be angry at AIG to take the pressure off the Obama administration and the lousy US Congress. Keep your eyes on the real villains, those who made the laws that allowed this to happen. They must be removed.
—
Keep the change-I’ll keep my guns
Wasn’t LGM saying a few weeks ago that hese protests were smal and would not grow???
LGM wrong again.
Protests would be over by the time they got out of the sack and showed up.
on the one hand, the gubmint de obama says it can’t change contracts previously negotiated and hence aig has to pay these bonusses. but on the other hand, the merciful one says it will change the contracts of the deadbeats who overbought and now want to underpay. heads the taxpayer loses and tails the taxpayer gets screwed. i think i see a pattern forming here.
“Where’s my free Pony ?”
Patience little one, the horse’s asses in Washington are working on it…
MrOlympia said (#57):
Y’all feel comfortable posting your innermost feelings here. Even the ones that are racist. The Black Panthers haven’t been heard of for decades. Other radicals aren’t happy about Obama’s conservatism.
jangar said (#67):
Interesting theory. But Congress went back to piling up record deficits the moment Bush was elected.
sonofdy said (#72):
No. LGM said the protests were pathetically small. Even 5000 is smaller than the anti Iraq war demonstrations in Cincinnati. And the Obama rallies . . . .
Debt Star
Commanded by OdopeyOne Kabali and Lt. Darth Pelosi
LOL then how do you explain how fast they are growing? They are growing much faster than the ones generated by the hate and slander of the left. Not even a month ago they were less than a hundred people, now there are 5000. IN LESS THAN A MONTH. Get ready LGM because you and your fellow leftist radicals are in for a hell of a shock. You are going to find out that you are actualy a minority, and that obama can no longer blame everything on someone else and expect everyone to buy it.
The anti-war and anti-bush movement never grew this fast.
Here’s a report (scroll down) of the event this weekend in New York City, which is ten times the size of Cincinnati:
Maybe someday. But today Obama is popular, bailout, stimulus, deficit, tax hikes, carbon tax, card check, and all.
Thats not the way the polls are heading. obama the fraud and failure is going to be listed as worse than bush by the history books.
BTW are you going to be happy to pay huge increases in taxes to pay for carbon taxes for a problem that doesn’t exist???
sucker!!!
http://www.pollingreport.com/obama_job.htm#Graphic
Polling data for lgm.
Yes LGM, that polling data shows that obamas disaproval rating increased by 300% in less than 2 months and his approval rating has droped 6-7% in 2 months.
Thats bad. For any president.
That LGM has posted three times today on the same thread proves he is either worried because the Tea Parties are gaining ground or that, in his official role as instigator for the GOP, he’s just up to his usual game of goading and prodding us to respond.
Don’t forget Tea Party at Madison, Wisconsin – April 15th. Madison – heart of a big lefty state and home of the biggest lefty beer partying university in the USA!
Folks:
Don’t waste time, effort, life, oxygen, etc, in responding to the socialist cheerleader.
Muffy will never be convinced that Candy’s outfit is cuter.
Ashley will never convince Crytsal that Chad would make a better student council president than Tyler.
The troll just drives by to toss a snide, dismissive bomb.
…Actually, if this movement, and other conservatice positions on issues, were destined for failure, why would trolls waste their time here?
If the conservative positions and/or issues were irrelevant, one would think the trolls would ignore them.
If the conservative positions and/or issues were doomed to failure, why would the trolls waste their time warning conservatives (as they not infrequently do – no, I do not have the documentary evidentiary references nor links) about them, or encouraging (“egging on”?) conservatives on along, with dire warnings included as a bonus?
…Unless…the socialist trolls are just the littlest bit scared.
Agreed.
You beat me to it.
Apologies; I was composing my post at the time yours was posted.
And “preview” is working, too…!
Popular? Well judging by the incremental increases in the number of attendees at each successive Tea Party, I’d say the bailouts are very “popular.”
i guess lgm was too busy traveling to various polling places to cast his multiple votes to remember the two black panthers in their garb complete with billy clubs posted at the front door of a polling place to keep racist white reporters out of the building so they couldn’t document the voter fraud. michelle posted it here, and the police were called, but hey, those racist white reporters from fox provoked the incident by showing up and filming these thugs intimidating voters. when will the kkk get a pass after showing up in hoods in front of a polling place complete with clubs and torches. just a question for the can’t we all get along group. 5 idiots wearing sheets try to march through some city, get attacked by hundreds of blacks, and nevermind. reverse that, and the fbi is looking for hate crime indictments. justice for all.
Thank you cheapseat. I do not respond to the trolls.
WCPO is claiming that the reporters were harassed and spit upon. Nobody is collaborating this story because it must not have happened. Where is the footage of this? It’s noticeably absent.
Additionally, Mike Wilson had this to say about their coverage:
E-mail sent to WCPO GM and Reporter Adam Marshall
I just heard Rush Limbaugh, just a couple minutes ago, give a huge plug for the tea parties and mentioned the one in Cincinnati in particular. He also talked about the reason for the tea parties and said, “God bless these folks”. High praise from El Rushbo!
Thanks to all the folks attending tea parties–THIS is how things get changed. There are supposed to be 2 Tea Parties in Denver on Apr 15th: 12 Noon at the Denver Capitol building (14th & Broadway) and another at 6:30 PM (don’t have all the details). It would be so much bigger if the parties were after working hours! I appreciate people showing up with signs expressing their concerns.
