Planting the seeds of the next shamnesty
The Hill reports that President Obama will “huddle” with Hispanic Democrats tomorrow to talk “immigration reform.”
Translation: The seeds of the next shamnesty are being planted:
Hispanic Democrats will have their first West Wing meeting with President Obama on Wednesday morning to discuss immigration reform, according to Democratic sources.
The meeting is the first face-to-face sit-down between Obama and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) since the president was sworn-in. Some in the CHC have recently expressed frustration that Obama has not talked more about immigration in his first two months in office.
Immigration reform is front-and-center on the group’s agenda.
CHC is eager to hear the president’s ideas and proposals for tackling immigration reform, not only as it relates to a comprehensive reform bill that could provide a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented workers but also as it relates to rolling back Bush administration policies of raiding workplaces and detaining and deporting thousands of illegal workers.
CHC members came away from a recent meeting in the Capitol with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano — a day after her Senate confirmation hearing — very encouraged that the workplace raids policy would be fully reviewed, and possibly altered.
Obama is on board. His DHS secretary is on board. The question is not whether, but when. He spoke to the massive illegal alien shamnesty march in Chicago in 2006, where he boasted of standing “shoulder-to-shoulder” with the open-borders mob. Here’s a flashback:

I don’t believe it does, imo. Issues (amnesty, gay marriage, health care etc) are never “defeated,” they’re just beaten back for a little bit till our political ruling class thinks it’s safe to try again.

Bringing in more and more illegal aliens, wooing and coddling them with free health care and other services that are not available to taxpaying citizens, accomplishes two things: expansion of number of welfare recipients and a guarantee that the Democrats will have growing power granted by those cradle-to-grave voters.
With the current AIG and military health care backlashes, though, Obama might be stepping into a huge pile of cow poo-poo today and isn’t even aware of it. I’ve heard that narcissists are myopic like that. So, this illegal alien love fest may be premature on his part.

I am vehemently anti-Obama by this point. After he spinelessly backtracked on the ending of the Mexican Trucking Pilot program after Mexico threatened tariffs.

Incorrect. There have been a total of 6 actual amnesties (incl. the largest one in 1986; the 2nd largest one was in 1996 under Clinton). Those do not count the 2007 attempted amnesty. NONE has ever damped or slowed the flow of illegals into the US.
The US population is 3rd highest in the world. For an industrialized, “Western” nation, we have one of, if not THE highest population growth rate. Most of our population increase comes from immigration (both types) AND from native births to ‘immigrants’.

It isn’t going to be quite as easy as the ultimate monument to affirmative action run amok declaring himself a US citizen, but if you can show proof of native birth, I’m pretty sure you’ll be eligible. Only if you bring your own gun and powder, of course. No doubt we’ll also have some sort of refugee program, for carefully screened conservatives.

Even if an Amnesty doesn’t make it in to law (highly unlikely but I like to think of myself as an optimist), here is what will happen over the next few months:
The media (including real media, not just MSM) will spin up reports that ole Blue Lips is considering a work program for the undocumented proletariat (trust me, they will find a term that sounds like fuzzy kittens instead of “uncharged criminal aliens” – the truth). We may or may not be able to stop it. However, as soon as the media leaks the rumor, there will be a flood of new illegal aliens running across the border, arriving on airplanes and stowing away on ships because they know that all they have to do is BE HERE on the day the law is signed. Green Card guaranteed. In addition to the Media, Immigration Lawyers all over the world, right now, are advising their clients to BE HERE – doesn’t matter how.
I’m not guessing about this. When Clinton was president, he let it slip twice that he was considering Amnesty. Bush would have pushed an Amnesty through if 9/11 hadn’t forced an alteration to his plans and, of course, We, the People, halted his last scheme. What I described above happened each and every time the legislation was proposed.
The Border Patrol and INS Inspectors’ workloads went through the roof.
So, you see, even by mentioning a free ride, the Dems increase their voting base by several percentage points.
