All of the people should be executed with piano wire around their neck
Update: Allah’s got video. Ditto what Allah says about Frank: “What a wretch.”
I noted in the public flogging liveblogging below that Rep. Barney Frank rather flippantly dismissed the death threats against AIG executives.
Edward Liddy read this threat, after which Frank smirked, “I am not persuaded:”
All of the people should be executed with piano wire around their neck.
I ahbor the AIG bailouts. I abhor the Hypocrites of High Indignation who enabled them.
But when someone reads a threat like that, you do not shrug your shoulders and respond, as Frank did, that “Everyone here” gets those threats.
I repeat: The AIG employees and their families are not public officials. They do not deserve to be subjects of a witch hunt.
The thug Democrats are overreaching on this, and it is going to backfire.
The Hill reports:
House Financial Service Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) wants the names of AIG employees who refuse to return at least some of their bonuses, and lawmakers appear split on the request.
“I’m now asking you to send us the names of people receiving the bonuses who are not paying them back,” Frank told AIG Chairman and CEO Edward Liddy during a Wednesday hearing.
Frank said if he did not receive the names he would move to ask his committee to vote to subpoena the names.
Liddy said that he “very much” wants to comply with Frank’s request, but said he feared for the employees’ safety.
“I would hope it doesn’t take a subpoena,” he said. “I’m just really concerned about the safety of our people.”
Liddy read from one threat: “‘All of the people should be executed with piano wire around their neck,’” he said.
Some Senate Republicans sympathized with Liddy’s concerns about potentially exposing the executives to public harm.
“My gut reaction is that there’s so much rage, I don’t want any violence taking place,” said Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.). “I’ve got to be a little tempered in my response. But I do think they should either return the money or be fired.”
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), a member of the Senate Banking Committee, said public anger should be focused instead on the Treasury Department, which knew about the bonuses. “The administration could have easily dealt with this,” Corker said.

if the threat had been that homosexuals should be strangled with piano wire he’d be calling on the fbi to find the culprit and hang him/her.
Threats like those can only come from those on the left.
barney, if one human is harmed as a result of your gosh horrible demands of the aig people, I hope those family members do everything in their power to file suit against you for all your sorry rear is worth. YOU make me so sick, I can hardly type.
L
Barney, jail is the safest place for you and the other Democrats. Go there now.
Rep. Barney Frank said back in 2003 that “Fannie Mia and Freddy are not in a crisis.”
Well Barney were they in a crisis or not?
I guess you are not persuaded by the facts.
Sounds like a terroristic (is that a word?) threat to me. Perhaps the FBI should get involved or are they too busy tracking down illegal aliens?
i heard several office’s having to hire private security to protect their employees.
this whole thing is dispicable.
It will be interesting how often the MSM repeats/quotes Franks’ idiotic piano wire comment v.s. the idiotic suicide comment of Grassley’s.
I swear to God, that if I was an AIG employee, I wouldn’t give nothing back and I would sue Liddy if he released my name and I would sue Frank if my name got leaked to anyone. I would beat the hell out of Frank first.
It’s the War on Wall Street. Obama speaking today said:
You guys on Wall Street should be considering a career change, your compensation is going to be regulated, TARP or no TARP, it won’t matter.
Left Libtards are the threatening type. They hate capitolism

Don’t blame capitalism/Corporations.
Blame the retarded elitist ivy league Washington insider politicians.
Maybe Dodd and Obama need to give back the money AIG gave to them?
Sadly, if an executive from AIG is attacked, these liberal Congressmen will likely secretly congratulate themselves for effectively creating a scapegoat for American angst over these bailouts.
Oh, they’ll express condolences to the families of these victims, but they’ll be glad the American public isn’t paying as much attention to their own culpability.
Has anyone, anywhere, even begun to try and figure out which of the mortgage assets are toxic?
Maybe we need to recruit an unofficial security force of our own to defend the AIG employees. Somehow I don’t think these swine would be so eager if they thought that they might become shot. And in TX at least it is legal to use deadly force in defense of others lives and property.
Yet the banks that took less risks and had NO foreclosures were told by the government that they need to “improve” and take MORE risks!
Reminds me of the vitrol against the Proposition 8 donors … whose identities were publicized for the crime of participating in the election campaign.
Has Obama even paid for his Chicago election party yet?
I wonder what the piano wire strangling and suicide promoting politicians would say if they found out three of the bonus recipients were black and two were gay?
These are comments from two veteran politicians who have performed there jobs so well we are $11 trillion in debt. And for this achievement, while my salary is frozen, they vote themselves a pay raise.
We all should be flogged for returning these idiots to office.
Reminds me of how anti Prop-8 activists wanted to list donors to the Prop 8 campaign so they could be targeted for harassment.
Sadly, it wasn’t even a vote. It was automatic, much like the retention payments they’re railing against now are.
Can we demand the list of Congressmen that have not returned their automatic increases?
Last Tuesday, as President Obama got off the helicopter in front of the
White House, he was carrying a baby piglet under each arm.
The squared away Marine guard snaps to attention, Salutes and says:
“Nice pigs, sir.”
The President replies “These are not pigs…these are authentic Arkansas
Razorback Hogs. I got one for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and I got one for
Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi.”
The squared away Marine again snaps to attention, Salutes and says,
“Excellent trade, sir.”
If government doesn’t bail them out, the taxpayers won’t be left holding the bag. The creditors and shareholders will be left holding the bag. Which is how the system is supposed to work. I would think a havard educated lawyer would know that.
I seriously doubt that Mr. Liddy will give out those names. I wouldn’t if it were me. I would go to jail first. Seriously. The threats are real. And most certainly they are coming from left-wing moonbats. These threats also mentioned finding out where the employees lived, the names of their children, etc. These are not to be taken lightly!! But that obscene excuse for a human being, Barnacle Fwank, dismissed the threats totally. Kind of like the entire Obama administration and Congress is dismissing the things that are going on in the world that prove this country is in grave danger. Obama is too fatigued to do anything about foreign policy. He has to concentrate on socializing the country first. Then, if there is anyone left standing, he will think about talking to our enemies and finding out what they have in mind…respectfully and without conditions, of course.
Folks…I really think the limit has been just about reached. It wouldn’t suprise me to find out some people are readying themselves for revolution as we speak.
These idiots are going to get someone killed.
To the democraps, all life is cheap. Just look at their abortion policies.

This country is absolutely experiencing a Communist Revolution, as a direct result of who we have allowed to win (or steal) the elections of 2008.
There is no substantial difference between the agenda of the Communist Party USA and the agenda of Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and a majority of both the House and Senate.
And you can’t look at party designation. There are small numbers of non-Communist Democrats, and a larger number of Communist Republicans (otherwise known as RINOs).
Communist Goal #15:
what will new york city do if these clowns in washington decide to tax the high income earners who fund the nyc welfare state. london has a stock market, dubai has a growing stock market, japan, hong kong, korea, there are lots of places for a broker to ply his trade. mayor bloomberg and the gov better try to talk barry down off the cliff before he kills the goose who lays the golden eggs.

Violent Communist Revolutionaries
Can we demand the list of Congressmen that have not returned their campaign contributions from AIG?
Can we demand the list of Congressmen that have not returned their campaign contributions from Fannie Mae?
Can we demand the list of Congressmen that have not returned their campaign contributions from Freddie Mac?
Make no mistake about it, the “piano wire” quote is nothing less than revolutionary communists calling for the execution of capitalists.
Kind of like what Obama’s “family friend” William Ayers did.
An elected government official, with other elected officials like him, sitting at a table in a Washington government buidling, demanding names from a private American citizen. Does anyone else feel this smacks of the events from the ’50’s, when another worthless Congressman, under the banner of House on Un-American Activities, committed this sort of crime? Yes, the bail out money & where it went is a big issue. It pales in comparison to a bloated, pompous & bloviating official using his position to bludgeon an American, & induce fear. Then as now, no one there has the integrity to call him on it.
It seems to me that this attention on AIG retention payments (tiny by comparison to the billions of dollars wasted elsewhere) is because Democrats know the bailouts are backfiring in public opinion. They are pointing at these individuals primarily to redirect that negative attention and stick to their class warfare principles.
That’s why Barney shrugs when he hears about the threats. It is evidence that the goal of diverting attention is working.
Maybe Mr. Frank was confused—perhaps he simply considers that a form of autoerotic asphyxiation.
AIG, Fannie, and Freddie don’t deserve the money back for wasting it on these non-performers.
Funny thanks I needed a chuckle.
He should know. He had a partner running a bisexual prostitution ring out of his apartment. Yet, the following year, he got re-elected…by an overwhelming margin.
The “can do no wrong”, “most ethical congress” Democrats once again!
Seems to be a very violent subculture in the gay community. Remember how those supported Prop 8 in CA were and still are being treated?
I don’t get the MSM! This stuff hurts them too! Can’t they see that???
Is everyone learning what it means to be BFed?
(e.g. Barney Franked)
I hope so…then maybe he will try it for himself!
Those are direct and certain death threats. They need to find out who sent them and those people need to go to jail. Will this be investigated? If not, where is our justice system? ANY death threat needs to be taken very seriously! You can be sure that if the threats were against a member of Congress, they would spare no expense to find out who did it. Are their lives any more important than anyone elses? I don’t trust myself to finish that thought…I would get banned.
You beat me to it.
Exactly the same thought that first came to my mind.
Mr. B. Hussein Obama; and you other dangerous socialist clowns, who are in congress (cannot bring myself to capitalize it): why exactly is the government holding the bag in the first place?
Hello! If they are going to make a public spectacle out of me, I’m damn sure going to make them pay dearly as well!
Oh Jeepers! Exactly what we need in this country. More legislation. Bright minds thinking outside the box.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Put a fork in us because we are done!
Not to change the subject but sorta – if the government hadn’t gotten in the middle of marriage way back when we wouldn’t be facing these issues about it today either. Right – more government, more legislation, more laws, more rules, more taxing, more sub committees, more..more..more…
Oh, the irony. From an older thread on this site I just read today:
Sounds like a pretty “direct and certain threat” according to these standards, which was greeted with a shrug by the people responsible for policing this kind of talk here. But then I guess SanFranNan is an elected official, so she deserves to be subject to a witch hunt. Or something like that.
fixed
Pity the poor people that got $1 million bonuses. If they can’t handle the heat, they can send the money on to me. They accepted the bonuses. If they weren’t smart enough to figure out there would be a backlash, maybe they didn’t deserve the bonuses in the first place. If they weren’t smart enough to expect the dimwits in Congress to Kabuki, then they definitely didn’t deserve the bonuses.

Between Nancy Pelosi talking about “un-American”, and Barney Frank asking private citizens to name names, it looks like HUAC is back, except this time the Communists are running the inquisition.

Some idiot was just on Neil Cavuto and said that if those receiving bonuses just paid the money back their names would not be released. Isn’t that called extortion? Congress virtually blackmailing citizens?
Now ‘Bambi wants more regulations, to protect us from those evil capitalists.
We have been catapulted to an alternate universe.
What do we call it when Bawny Fwank says “give us the money back or we’ll tax you 100% and get it back that way” …Excuse Me? Congress is out of control.

Michelle, maybe Barnie Frank said “Everyone here gets those threats” because they do…
Frankly, everyone connected with this mess should be security conscious.
It’s irresponsible for Congress to treat this issue in this manner. They are ultimately the ones culpable. They structured the bail outs in TARP. They, through the smartest man on Wall Street, put together the AIG package(s). If there’s anything wrong with the bonuses, Frank, Dodd, Obama and Geithner are the ones to blame. And Barnie, we already know their names, along with your own.
What is really telling Gorebot, is that I’d rather have Hillary that this dufus we’ve got in office right now.
“…. to alter or abolish it.”
bear1909 out.
Agreed. If Hillarious were in there, at least there’d be a pair of “cojones” to offset the ones Obambi lacks when dealing with Chancellor Pelosi.
And think of all the cat-fighting there’d be to watch. Jeese, I’d go out and buy lots of stock in popcorn-making companies.
The 2009 CYA congress-
How can, according to our Dem leaders and obama, nearly EIGHT (8) Billion dollars two weeks ago be “minuscule”, “nothing”, “pennies” “drop in the bucket” comparison to the spending bill… but 1/50th of this, or $165 Million, could cost people their lives?
Thanks Barney Frank, Chris Dodd & co., you’re worthless.
Ah, but threats can only come from those on the RIGHT. What the left spits out are not threats, but wants, wishes or utterences of frustration.
Those that utter these threats, er, wishes could never carry them out. Of course they accept no responsibility if some nutter acts upon their ravings.
The Democrats answer to every problem or crisis. That and more taxes.
Because the whole point of this is so we won’t think about the spending bill, but will be outraged by the apparent greed of Wall Street and the banking community – 52% of the population are to stupid to realize that congress is in bed with those they are trying to crucify and just as greedy – sleep with dogs, get up with fleas.
It was democrat leadership and Republican cupidity that brought out these baliouts in the first place, THEY WHO VOTED FOR THIS NONSENSE ARE THE ONES WHO SHOULD RECEIVE JAIL TIME AND LOSS OF ASSETS. For the Demos to act like this is absurdity….for those in my neighborhood who believe this nonsense, I have ZERO problem getting in their damn ignorant faces and present them with the facts and make them aware of their foolishness…
Thank you for that. I appreciate it much more than you realize.
ObambiCo’s actions of late are so intensely moronic that they’re starting to make Joe Biden seem like the smartest guy in the bunch.
Yup, it all must be an evil plot by Joe to make himself look good.
Whenever he’s not in the corner sucking his thumb, of course.
MM – just saw you on Glen Beck. I so want that sweater you were wearing, and if you don’t hand it over Barnie will add your name to the AIG employee bonus list.
Good job by the way – stats in hand, name rank and serial numbers of those that put on this spectacle today.
Are you ready to give back your bonus if you get one? If they were allowed to pass something, “just this one time”, what would stop them from passing it everytime their next boogey man popped up, like oil companies profits or maybe Wal Mart stock holders.
All of this bailout mania started with a seemingly insignificant bailout of Chrysler back in the 80’s.
HappyScrapper – I think in the past few days I have passed the limit of disgust and disbelief in the cretins in D.C. I simply cannot believe the idiocy taking place.
Oh My! Piano wire? Do you really want to get that close to those Vermin?
Rule .308 good out to 800 meters.
No feeling but recoil.
The Economy is trashed for now. Get rid of the Illegals and Socialists and recovery will happen. Hang a few Bankers and it will be all good.
Cheers, Old Trooper!
Barney Frank didn’t say they should be executed with piano wire. Liddy read a letter one of the AIG execs received that contained that threat.
And as unsavory as it might be, Frank is right. High profile people on both side receive threats like that all the time. I’m sure Michelle has received some. Debbie Schlussel definitely has. I know that Stephanie Miller has received some. Rachel Maddow gets hate mail on an almost daily basis from people telling her they hope she dies of AIDS. Ask any politician if they’ve ever received threatening mail. I guarantee you the answer is yes.
and your point would be what exactly?
Better : )
Nothing like moral indignation from Barney Frank to let you know you’re doing all right.
The proper response?
The proper response?

I think the Senators have a lot of balls asking for any money back, or expecting that these people just give it back. Are those same Senators giving us the taxpayers anything back? They’ve created a disaster…. wasted our money…. gave themselves a raise!!!! Where the demand to make the Senators give there salaries back???? Where?
My point is that he’s right. People get threats like that all the time. Does it suck? Of course. But it’s true.
The executives who received the bonuses are not public figures. If Bonehead Frank gets the names, those names will immediately be publicized by self-serving boobs like Frank and the other Democrats on the committee. Those private citizens and their families will be put at risk for some moron like Bonehead Frank to make political points before the great unwashed*.
As above, I’d tell Bonehead Frank and the rest of the political opportunists to go to Hell.
Hope is not a plan; not all change is good. The resistance is here; the resistance is now. RESIST!!!!
ECS
*(The Democratic Party dependent constituency)
Here’s a question and there’s no sarcasm implied: Why don’t taxpayers have a right to know where their money is going?
I don’t know what Barny’s problem is. They have the names! All they need to do is go through Barny’s and Chris Dodds’ Contributors list and cross reference against the letters to the NYT editors castigating Sara Pallin. Simple, can I have my bailout now? Schadenfreude is such a misunderstood word.
Happy Happy
This is the second time recently, to my memory of this past year, in which private citizens have had their personal information put at risk of public exposure, in an environment hostile towards said citizens, for political advantage.
First it was people who donated to the prop 8 funds. Now it’s the AIG executives who received bonuses that they were due by contract (supported by Dodd).
The bill of rights is on it’s death bed, right next to the constitution. Will no one start the war to save them?
I think Barney Frank should disclose the names of all of the people that were running the gay prostitution ring out of his apartment several years ago.
Mookie, using that logic, I then would take it a step further – how about we publish the name, phone number, and address of every public servant. They get our tax dollars too. And, I mean take it down to the local dogcatcher and 911 operator.
They know that the money went to AIG. How far down the chain should they be following that money? Were they all marked bills?
I get what you’re saying, but the taxpayers didn’t have much say in the spending of this money in the bailouts. The taxpayers should be concerned about all of the $1.2T and counting that is being spent. If only this level of attention was being placed on the trillions as much as is being placed on this $165 million.
Otherwise, I agree that the taxpayers have a right to know what the government did with the money.
Publicizing a list of executives for the purpose of creating scapegoats for a populace frightened about the current economic climate, however, helps no one. I can see no reason to give these individuals a scarlet letter and invite harm upon them.
Welcome to the universe of the distracted electorate. We have:
1. Politicians creating problems, then a compliant media absolves them of blame before investigating.
2. Politicians pass all-encompassing laws (i.e. immigration) of which they are selectively (if at all) enforced.
3. Politicians give billions of earmarks and pork to companies that feed a portion of it back to re-elect the originator of the money. In essence, our tax dollars pay for the bribes.
4. Companies/corporations that claim annual losses and then dole out large amounts to bonuses for good performance.
5. Political Action Committees are formed to allow further bribing and are given same tax-exempt status as charitable organizations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation or the Special Olympics.
And on…and on…and on…
It has been said that we get the government we deserve. America had better wake up (the majority of the contributors on this website get it – my concern is for the majority of the electorate).
The true reality is the downfall of our very existence right before the eyes of anyone interested in looking at it. Instead, we focus on diversions created to prevent true investigations, analysis and necessary actions. Are you ready for third-world status?
I am extremely frightened…
Barney Frank is wrong, Mookie, he should take this as seriously as if it had happened to him.
I don’t recall AIG execs getting Secret Service protection (armed with whatever they deem ncessary).
Moreover his remark is exceptionally cavalier since it was under Barney Frank’s watch and guidance that this subprime monster got out of hand.
Don’t defend Frank, Mookie, he does not deserve it.
Personally, I typically ignore hyperbolic posts such as the one you point out. Not because I agree with them (I certainly do not), but because it’s best to not to encourage more of the same by responding. We could go back and forth about these types of statements from both sides. They’re all childish. Just because someone doesn’t cry foul every time it happens doesn’t mean we (or Michelle) agree(s) with it.
This is a regular problem with an internet forum. Most here likely (and reasonably) thought that the poster was venting anger and was not really planning on killing Nancy Pelosi.
The contrast that some are making between public and private citizens here is that many public officials have protection. That’s not condoning the behavior of the threats, but it is an unfortunate part of the job that many of them knew about before they accepted it. AIG executives, however, never would have thought that their jobs would mean that they would need physical security.
This is not a matter of Barney Frank not acknowledging the threats. He has heard them and has shrugged his shoulders. Given the tension of current times, this seems to many of us here to be a lack of regard for the personal safety of these individuals. Barney Frank is telling them to “suck it up” when it is he and others that are calling their names to the fore.
What good could come from publicizing these names?
Least we forget, AIG was underwriting Fannie and Freddie. It was the failure of these GSE’s that brought AIG to its knees, not bad business practices on the part of AIG. Who was responsible for Fan and Fred…The FED, Franks, Dodd, Riens, Paulson, and Giethner…and the Senate and Congress that allowed this bailout to take place. I would say, take the bonuses to AIG employees out of our Congressmens salary.
I hate to nitpick here, but while you’re right that McCarthy was eventually proven right in the face of a craven Democrat administration seeking only to protect its own reputation rather than the interests of the nation (as anyone who’s bothered to read the historical record in M Stanton Evans’ Blacklisted by History can tell you) please do not fall into that tiresome faulty trap:
The HOUSE Unamerican Activities Committee was not run by SENATOR Joe McCarthy. The arguable excesses of the latter are commonly and fraudulently conflated to imply some failings of the latter.
