The “proof” of Obama’s birth documentation first showed up as a forgery (along with another clear forgery) on DailyKos.

The Obama campaign then “doubled down” by creating a hard copy of this forgery, which they produced at the campaign HQ in Chicago, and only showed to a small, controlled, friendly audience (Annenberg Political Fact Check). That group went on to post a page on their web site that many people (including many members of Congress) accepted as “proof” that Obama was born in Hawaii.

But can Political Fact Check be trusted?
No. Their web page has two blatant lies:

FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate

and

The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.

Neither of those is true.

1) Contrary to what they claim, representatives from FactCheck.org have never seen Obama’s original birth certificate. What they inspected was the forged Certification of Live Birth (COLB) that was produced at the Obama campaign headquarters. This COLB was not produced by the state of Hawaii, and has never been verified by the state of Hawaii.

2) The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health has never publicly confirmed that Obama was born in Honolulu. The Associated Press spread that lie, but Dr. Fukino’s October 31st statement does NOT claim or confirm that Obama was born in Honolulu. It also doesn’t claim that the COLB produced by the Obama campaign is authentic.

No one should take the word of the Obama campaign or FactCheck.org as “proof” that the COLB is authentic. It is no more authentic than the Bush National Guard memos.
