Gibbs on Geithner: “Uhhhh….uhhhh…uhhh”

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 20, 2009 02:52 PM

The Robert Gibbs Live Comedy Hour WH press briefing is on. Press corps is actually pressing Gibbs on Tim Geithner.

A journo asked Gibbs about the Geithner date discrepancies (March 10? March 3?) Gibbs replied, and I quote: “Uhhh…uhhhh…uhhh…uhhh.”

After having made snarky remarks about “his friends on cable TV” in response to a question about Obama’s rotten week, Gibbs then dismissed Geithner questions by offering to give one of the questioning journalists a dollar to read the latest newspaper accounts of the actual chronology today.

Another journo asked why Gibbs himself used the erroneous March 10 date that Geithner is sticking to even now despite the House hearing video that exposes that lie.

More deflection and uhhhs.

It’s all cable television’s fault!

One thing to remember is that DOD plans to increase the number of troops in FY2010. I can’t find a hard number but if it looks like they were trying to add 20,000 new troops a year over 3 to 5 years.

Recruiting and equipping and training another 20,000 troops on a basically flat budget won’t be easy. If Obama guts the training budget for existing formations he may raise the new brigades but they have the money to train which mean they won’t be able to effectively deploy for combat operations.

The DOD budget is a huge bucket and it is easy to play shell games with such a large number. How the money is allocated is just as important as how much is budgeted.

But soldiers who don’t have money to train will be less effective in combat and will suffer more casualties when deployed because they won’t know their job.

    http://pajamasmedia.com/ejectejecteject/?s=bush

Probably because of his speaking style, Bush was stereotyped as someone who wasn’t too intelligent. However, this article makes it clear that anyone who could fly the Air Force fighter that he did is no dummy. My boss is a former Air Force pilot, and he has told me on plenty of occasions of wannabe pilots who washed out.

I always thought that if Bush went against either Gore, Kerry, and I would now add Obama in a round of Jeopardy that Bush would clean their clocks.

The maverick strikes again! The main difference between Obama and McCain? Obama won the election.

On that topic, A rumor is circulating that Geithner is about to get the ax. Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan CEO) is supposedly going to replace him. I like Dimon but he is a ferocious defender of the post Glass-Steagal Act mega-bank model that just failed spectacularly.

That is not good for those of us who believe investment banks, commercial banks and insurance companies should not be allowed to own each other or partner up. These are inherently conflicting interests that need to be kept apart. That is why the Glass-Steagall Act was enacted in 1938 and it was a very efficient and effective regulation for sixty years.

But, we’ll have the last laugh with ‘Bambi – the very people that placed him in office will be the ones that pay for it, and pay for it, andddddd pay for it. Sadly, I cry for those that will pay for it. They’ll eventually wake up, he never will.

No he’s not. He is eliminating certain weapons programs (and one can argue the wisdom of that), but his budget for the DoD is like 13 billion more than last year.

For those who believe Obama is raising more money for the military I think your blowing as much smoke as President Party in Chief. Don’t you get it yet.
Obama sorta presents a plan sorta reasonable, congress takes over and cuts the crap out of what they want, spends what they want, instigates a list of unwanted enemies , persons, companies, and creats absolute havoc to keep everyone mad and distracted.
Obama just smiles and parties and shows his pecs.
Meanwhile his chosen correct people stand around chanting Four Legs good.
Two legs bad. cause they read it in a book somewhere.

You mean like the Dems gutted defense and war spending in the two years they were in control under Bush? Can you point to one defense spending bill that did not get passed with the amount the White House requested in the past 2 years?

Are you ready for the 10-15% inflation that’s coming?

McCain may have been weak, but at least he wasn’t working to actually intentionally DESTROY the nation like this idiot socialist is.

Besides, who knows how long he would have lasted with the pressures of the Office? SARAH might be President by now! Did you ever think of THAT?

I say anyone who voted for a 3rd party losertarian SHOULD HAVE TO PUT AN OBAMA BUMPER STICKER ON THEIR CAR RIGHT NOW because you might as well have voted for him for what good you did. Thanks a LOT for helping Idiot Obama to win….

For you Obama lovers…you know who you are….

    LETTER FROM THE BOSS…..

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President, and that our taxes, and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%. Since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me, since I believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lot and found six Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change; I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic

    Fair’s fair…

In the past two years there were no bills passed except those special like dedicating statues and special interest perks. They were there but not acted on because they were being held until Bush was out of office. The formula was pretty simple. Democratic Congress + Democratic President = Socialist State. Just saving the ammo. It all was presented at one time. No one person knows what is in there. The little economy problem was the crisis and over half of that unread , unwritten bill was this liberal base spending.
I don’t for one minute believe that congress and the president can know whats needed for our protection.

Actually, at least as for the Chinese, the Czechs, the English and the EU, they are communicating with this administration to stop the madness before they drag the world economy down with us.

It should speak volumes when Communist China has to come to the defense of capitalism though … as it has!

Not really the forum for this but I get so tired of people who voted for “socialist-lite” John McCain blaming real conservatives for voting for a 3rd party. If conservatives voted for conservatives instead of what ever warmed over, loser candidate the GOP thought had stood in line long enough maybe we wouldn’t be in this position.

“Stupid” can cause as much damage as “evil” especially when “stupid” surrounds himself with “evil” advisors. McCain knows NOTHING about economics or the constitution. And he went out of his way to prove it during the campaign.

In fact, I think anyone who voted for John McCain should put an Obama bumper sticker on their care, right now!

Now, admittedly, The Idiot makes Bill Clinton look downright desirable right now, but do you see what I mean? BTW ThunderHawkk; Clinton ran in 1992 on a balanced budget platform. The Dem Congress trashed it and they lost in 1994. The main success for the “Contract with America” was opening up the path for that balanced budget to be re-submitted. Clinton left office with a balanced budget and although Republicans larded up the last year’s budget by $1 trillion, it was projected that the national debt would be retired by 2006-7. The main topic at the Fed in 2000 was “How will the Fed regulate monetary policy when it’s main tool, Treasury debt, no longer exists?”

You need to get into the real world. I’m a Reagan conservative and the fact is that Clinton fulfilled the Reagan dream of balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility. Clinton was the most business friendly president in our lifetimes.

That is why putting party over principle leads to bad government. The truth becomes a barrier to progress.
