Obama’s worse joke — and insult to American taxpayers’ intelligence
Yep, Barack Obama’s Special Olympics remark on Jay Leno was thoughtless.
But he made an even worse joke — intentionally insulting every American taxpayer’s intelligence — when he seriously asserted on the late-night talk show that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was doing an “outstanding job.”

President Barack Obama says his embattled treasury chief, Timothy Geithner, is doing an “outstanding job.”
In a taped appearance on “The Tonight Show”, he told host Jay Leno that Geithner is a smart guy who’s been handed an incredibly full plate. But he’s handling it all with grace and good humor. Listing the recession, the banking crisis and the need to coordinate with other countries, Obama acknowledged Geithner’s “on the hot seat”. But he says too many in Washington are trying to figure out who to blame for things — when they should be focused on fixing them.
Obama claimed to take personal responsibility…but not until he whinged a bit about inheriting his economic headaches from the Bush administration.
The “outstanding” Geithner followed his boss’s footsteps by making an empty show of taking “full responsibility” tonight for the bonus botch…while bearing no consequences for his latest misjudgment:
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner confirmed Thursday that the department did talk to Sen. Chris Dodd about a clause he put forth in the stimulus legislation that would have strictly limited executive bonuses. Timothy Geithner says the Treasury was worried about legal challenges to limiting contractual bonuses.
A loophole in the bill allowed bailed-out insurance giant American International Group to keep its bonuses.
The Treasury Department was concerned that legislation that would restrict contractual bonuses would not hold up to legal challenges, Geithner said in an interview with CNN’s Ali Velshi.
“We expressed concern about this specific version. We wanted to make sure it was strong enough to survive legal challenge,” Geithner said.

Geithner said he learned the full scale of the bonus problems on March 10.
“It’s my responsibility; I was in a position where I didn’t know about those sooner. I take full responsibility for that,” he said.

Well, when you look at it from the perspective of Obama wanting to completely destroy the Free Market and Capitalism as the way in which America operates in order to install Socialism as his trainers and handlers have bred him to do, then yes…from Der Fuhrer’s standpoint, Timmuh is doing an outstanding job…more than likely a better job than Der Fuhrer, Ayers and the rest ever hoped for…and in a much faster time frame as well. So fast, that Der Fuhrer cannot keep up with all the new Socialist programs that was planned to go into effect.
After all, if you force all of them through the Congress while declaring no time to read what they are due to the urgency of the crisis, someone will start asking questions.
His struggle now, is to figure out how to slow down the destruction and let him catch up without someone figuring out that it is all planned.

It would be funny as hell if the AIG bonuses were structured to provide a certain dollar value after taxes. Then this “grabby hands” legislation would require AIG to increase the bonuses by 300% to ensure the correct residual.
Reminds me of Janet Reno taking “Full Responsibility” for burning those children to death at Waco, and suffering no consequences whatsoever.

Carol is an American of African extraction. A strong person & one of the most color-blind humans I’m privileged know — she bristles when people refer to her as African-American. I’ve heard her chew-out people for that.

As txvet2 said, For all the constant defenses I’ve heard over the last two months of Geithner, that old photograph of Bush saying “You’re doing a heckuva job, Brownie!” is just begging for a photoshop of Obama telling Geithner the same thing, just like he did on Leno last night.

If I am reading all the information correctly, these payments were not ‘performance’ but ‘retention’ bonuses, that is, an amount awarded to an individual in return for certain objectives being met. When I accepted an early retirement offer, I was offered a ‘retention’ bonus to stay on until a (my) replacement could be hired and trained. That said, there were better ways to structure the payment, i.e., in stock options of common stock instead of a cash capital outlay, so that there would be an incentive to raise the value of the stock. In the company I worked for, all management bonuses were stock options – if the company did well, we did well; if it tanked, we tanked.
This ‘law’ that has been passed is against the Constitution, period. It will never be upheld by SCOTUS, but that is what the Kabuki theater wants, to divert attention away from their tawdry part in this whole affair beginning with the push to issue sub-prime mortgages.
MSM What about all the money being handed under the table to foreign banks???? $165M is but a grain of sand compared to that amount.

Geitner is only a symptom of a much larger disease.
I wish I had your faith but that same SCOTUS has held up the Lautenberg Act, McCain/Feingold and blatantly turned to International Law in direct violation of our Constitution and still held it to be Constitutional. That does not make these laws constitutional, only allowable in their eyes!
Just because somebody says something does not make it true … no matter what libs may believe … but I hold out no hope for any real protection in a Supreme Court that has nearly voted away our 2nd Amendment rights despite the fact that our Constitution PLAINLY prohibits them from doing so.

I could tell yesterday that the devil was in the details. Geithner then claimed that he didn’t get the “full details” about the bonuses until March 10th. They all just hoped we wouldn’t pick up on the clarifying words.
But he KNEW about the AIG bonuses back in early Feb. when he was playing with the language to protect them. So perhaps he didn’t know who exactly was going to get them – or better yet that the public would even notice.

This federal government is the greatest threat America has ever faced. Our own government has become our worst and most deadly enemy. The Constitution and it’s founders never anticipated that elected leaders would themselves become domestic enemies, waging political and economic warfare on their own countrymen. As I’ve said before, the Constitution is being end-runned, treated like an asphalt speedbump with contempt and complete disregard.
Given the incompetent, malfeasant, and agregious nature of their actions, Congress and the President must be challenged and opposed at every conceivable opportunity. This is a major constitutional crisis, and the remaining men and women of character in the federal and state governments have got to stand up and face this – with our help hopefully.

The founding fathers supposed that we would always place an emphasis on education and that uneducated people would never be voting as they did not truly care about the running of the country. Some other blogs are implying the Special Olympic remark was inadvertent on Obama’s part. I dont think so. Everything he does is scripted. In my opinion, some hack wrote that line for him. But that’s just my opinion.
If they start going after these people to “institutionalize them” or “prevent them from being harmed by society” and locking them away … you can count it as game over. That is exactly where it started in the thirties!
Somehow I doubt he would be so brazen as to give us clues about his plan though. Whether it is him or his Leash Handlers, whoever is running the game is planning a game of smoke and mirrors. If it was intentional, there is smoke or a mirror somewhere and it is meant to hide something. If not … well, it was crass … especially for someone in a position that should be looked upon with respect.
Now I really am sounding paranoid. Somehow I do not think his goals are quite that high just yet though. It will take a while before he can implement any plans for re-education and social purity … I hope.
Firing Geithner now will only serve to give Dodd and Frank cover for their roles in this financial mess (they’re sure to scapegoat him for everything from AIG to CRA) and allow Obama an excuse for future financial scandals involving his spending bill, like the additional trillion dollars his bill will cost the country that the CBO just discovered.
Geithner should never have been hired to begin w/ and needs to go eventually, but I see no immediate benefit his firing at this point in time, now that the spending bill is law and all monies have been allocated.
Look at this man’s actions. Put everything together and you will see where his heart is. In today’s age, with the internet, it’s very hard for the truth of the matter to get lost. Keep a tally and you will see where this man’s priorities are.
I too look for Tim to soon announce he wants to spend more “quality” time with his family, get back in touch with them, pursue new interests, or go in a new direction. It may not be as soon as 72 hours, but I do believe it is coming.

President Obama is correct, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is doing an outstanding job, as it appears that the President’s agenda is to destroy America as we know it and the Treasury Secretary is doing his part to make that happen. Kudos to all great job.
I have not seen or herd anything anywhere that would make her think that people will be coming after blacks or anyone else for that matter, due to the destruction Der Fuhrer is and will cause. I guess I can understand why she might be paranoid about it, but as far as I know, no one is blaming the black community for what he is doing.
Everyone knew that blacks would be voting for him, regardless of what and who he was. He was a mostly black guy with a (D) after his name, and that is all it took. We also all knew that the rank and file members of the community would be incredibly racist when it came to anything he said or did…the whole “stickin it to the man” thing as well. I have a friend who has been saying basically the same thing…but then so have my white Liberals friends as well. There have been the standard, “There’s a brother in the White House now…” rhetoric as well, but anyone can see it for what it is. Heck…if you watch any comedian on Comedy Central you will be inundated with that kind of junk.
What I will say about it though, is that after all the destruction he is going to do, there will be a large segment of the population that will find it difficult NOT to relate race to it and it will make any other black person have a difficult time getting elected President in the future based on all that rhetoric about “Sticking it to the man” and “It’s payback time” etc.
But violence based on any of this? Is she honestly thinking there is going to be some sort of race war just because he happened to be a black Democrat screwing up the country? Highly unlikely. I would try to make her understand that there is no under current of hatred and loathing of the black community to begin with, which is something that would need to be in place for that to even be possible. No one is running around declaring anything about his race other than the Liberals, so I would tell her to relax and to work on her family to see that voting for a much better qualified individual based on what their qualifications are is NOT being a “race traitor” and that the beliefs they hold are no different than the beliefs they think others hold or that they accuse whites of having. Racism is not a whites only issue.
And I say what I said about a segment of the population attributing things to his race only because there is such a large population out there that has made such a large issue about him being black and how much better things will be now that there is a person of color in the White House to begin with.
If that is what would be causing the good, then it stands to reason that it would also be held responsible amongst the same people for the bad.
