An ACORN fund-raiser on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals?

I’m kidding, right?

Nope.

And a GOP Senator approves of this?

I’m kidding, right?

Alas, it is true.

President Obama’s nomination of David Hamilton to the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit represents a choice based on the merits of political ideology instead of competence and impartiality. Hamilton, Obama’s first judicial nominee, has none of the judicial expertise or experience required, but all of the ties to left-wing special interest groups and a record of activist rulings reflecting his personal views that only a liberal ideologue could hope for.

No expertise or experience? Just like the President.

The left and MSM would be going nuts that a judicial appointee raised money for a group that promotes belief in God and excludes homosexuals.

Minds may differ over this nomination but fifteen years on the federal trial bench, including tenure as chief judge for the district, is generally considered sufficient experience for consideration for the Court of Appeals. The following is from his biography as appears on the District court’s official website:

“Judge Hamilton was appointed United States District Judge for the Southern District of Indiana in 1994. Judge Hamilton previously was a partner at Barnes & Thornburg, a private law firm in Indianapolis. He served as Counsel to the Governor of Indiana from 1989 to 1991 and from 1984 to 1989 was an associate at Barnes & Thornburg.

Judge Hamilton grew up in Southern Indiana. He graduated from Haverford College in 1979 and Yale Law school in 1983. He also performed graduate work as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Tuebingen in Germany. He served as law clerk to Judge Richard D. Cudahy on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago and then returned to Indianapolis to practice law. He is a founding member of the Sagamore Inn of Court in the American Inns of Court. He served as a member of the Indiana State Recount Commission from 1986 to 1987 and as chairman of the Indiana State Ethics Commission from 1991 to 1994.”

Let the criticism and comment be directed towards his record.

Ahhhh…this just certifies that I am just a bitter, gun loving, right wing extremist, bigotted, insensitive, conservative, white, male, chauvanistic, hate-filled, Christian, homophobe.

I apologize to all cabbages everywhere, regardless of color and size.

Speaking of tomatoes, a fellow I once worked with posted this question on a message board, “How’s your old tomato?” Some of the responses he got were beyond hyserical.

Let Michelle set the parameters for debate on her own website, troll. His background, to include his “official” record, is in play, as it always is for Republicans/conservatives. Bet you were all over Huffpost and Koz a few months ago demanding that any discussion of Palin be confined to her record as governor. Not.

Republicans should do everything they can to block this guy. The democrats torpedoed Bush’s picks every chance they got. Time to return the favor if it’s possible. The only good news is he’s not a SCOTUS pick. Not yet anyway.

And Obama calls this guy a moderate and does so with a straight face. Amazing.

What about Hamilton’s ruling against legislative prayers given in the name of Jesus Christ, but not Allah?
Why did the ABA rate him “not qualified” when Clinton nominated him to the district court in 1994?
