The only “honor” this fat POS deserves, is riding the rail out of this country, after being smeared in pork fat, with a liberal dusting of farm-fresh chicken manure. Tar and feathering is too good for the likes of him.

    The Citation reads:
Congressman Murtha’s selfless devotion to the Nation’s Sailors and Marines ensured they were provided the resources necessary to effectively conduct the Global War on Terrorism. His courageous leadership, vision, and loyalty to the men and women of the Department of the Navy greatly contributed to their quality of life and helped create the most modern and highly trained fighting force in history.

What a load this is, obviously nothing more than a politically motivated award, I found to be as deserved as George Tenet’s was.

I just signed. As a USN lifer I found this affront personal. We helped defeat John Kerry who represented an assault on the honor of all of us who served in VN, especially PCF veterans. Although this does not rise to that level, most of us place a very high value on our honor and personal integrity. I couldn’t honor Kerry and will not honor Murtha. We who served and are now serving didn’t ask for much, but we refuse to be disrespected.

Petition signed, over 31,000 so far.

A letter I sent to the Editor at WND:

    To the Editor:

So John Murtha has been given an award by the Navy. What this tells me is the award has been cheapened to the point of not being worth the paper it is written on, given by a political hack that should not be in any position of authority in the US Navy due to their incredible lack of judgment.

Perhaps Murtha needs some character enhancement given his connections (both pork and donations) to a company recently raided by the FBI. This award will not do it…Murtha’s character is irredeemable.

The citation reads, “”His courageous leadership, vision, and loyalty to the men and women of the Department of the Navy greatly contributed to their quality of life and helped create the most modern and highly trained fighting force in history,”"

One wonders what the quality of life has been, and continues to be, for the 8 Marines (and their families) accused of murdering women and children by someone supposedly showing such courage and loyalty. It was so courageous of Murtha to accuse these men in public without facts and without an ability to defend themselves at the time. These fine men were ordered to duty where they could have been killed in an instant, then put through hell for months in the country they were serving by leadership too embarrassed of the image they think was being shown to Europeans and others. What courage did it take to throw these men overboard?

The citation continues, “”As Chairman of Subcommittee on Defense of the House Appropriations Committee, Congressman Murtha’s tireless advocacy helped maintain the Navy and Marine Corps team at the highest levels of combat readiness to meet the challenges of the 21st century.”"

Again, this just tells me someone in the Navy is grateful for all the pork being funneled their way, and is trying to help out a benefactor. Murtha’s “vision” for high levels of combat readiness did not extend to the men and women expected to carry out the mission they were ordered to carry out, particularly in Haditha.

Murtha has been a disgrace to Congress since ABSCAM, and further disgraced his office and constituents as your column rightly pointed out.

Now the Navy has brought disgrace upon itself by giving such a farcical award to someone who could not deserve it less.

I knew there were no sailors involved the minute I read the load of crap in the citation.

Who the hell would believe it anyway?

This makes me wonder how many awards have been downgraded since the WoT started by some pencil-pushing nitwit in the Pentagon.

The more I read this, the more it just infuriates me.

I keep imagining Murtha presenting this citation in his defense against the libel suit filed by one of the Haditha Marines.

    “See! These men love me!”

That may be. I don’t know, but if they gave that award to Murtha for his former accomplishments, then Pete Rose should instantly be enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
