Last week, we all had a good snicker over the lame attempts by Team Obama to amass an Army of Pro-Spending Canvassers.
The mainstream media follows up with a story today on how no one in Congress is listening to the Obama-bots, either:
President Barack Obama’s army of canvassers fanned out across the nation over the weekend to drum up support for his $3.55 trillion budget, but they had no noticeable impact on members of Congress, who on Monday said they were largely unaware of the effort.
“News to me,” said Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, a House Budget Committee member, of the canvassing. Later, his staff said that his office had heard from about 100 voters.
The president’s lieutenants tried to open a new front in the “Obama revolution,” the grassroots mobilization that propelled the once little-known Illinois senator to the White House last year. David Plouffe, who ran Obama’s campaign, now runs “Organizing for America” out of the Democratic National Committee. It uses the same Web-based tactics that won the presidency to mobilize public opinion behind Obama’s initiatives in a bid to redefine “business as usual” in Washington.
“The budget that passes Congress has the potential to take our country in a truly new direction — the kind of change we all worked so hard for,” Plouffe said in an e-mail alert to Obama followers last week. He asked them to rally people in their hometowns behind Obama’s budget…
…Blue Dogs were careful not to criticize Obama, but said they’ve felt little pressure from the canvassing.
Rep. Melissa Bean, D-Ill., once a coalition member but now vice-chair of the New Democrat Coalition, said she wasn’t aware of the effort and has heard no response to it from her district.
I noted yesterday that Robert Gibbs claimed during the White House press briefing that “a million doors” were knocked on by the Obama Army.
What he didn’t say was that 990,000 of those doors probably went unanswered — or were slammed by folks with better things to do with their time and money.

Indianapolis – Attorney Paul K. Ogden, 47, today announced finalized plans regarding the taxpayer rally dubbed the “Revolt at the Statehouse” to be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the North Atrium.
The focus of the “Revolt” is the anger the average citizen has with government at all levels which has been captured by big money interests and does not listen to ordinary citizens.
Ogden cited the populist uprising in the country, which is noted on the cover of Newsweek that hits the newsstands today, as one of the reasons for the rally. “You are seeing a populist rage sweeping the country like you have not seen in decades. People are angry as they see their hard-earned money being taken to give out to failing companies, like AIG and others. In Indianapolis, leadership of both the Republican and Democratic Parties is deeply involved in a corporate welfare culture that silences even the most well-meaning party members who dare speak out for the interests of the taxpayers.”
Gary Welsh, author of the blog “Advance Indiana,” has tirelessly reported about the proposed Pacer bailout, the overly generous Colts-Lucas Oil Stadium deal as well as other issues related to the Capital Improvement Board and other local issues. Welsh notes, “The CIB is filled with members who have serious conflicts of interest, not the least of which is the President of the Board, who represents the Simons who own the Pacers. The individuals on the CIB clearly do not have the best interests of the people of Indianapolis in mind when they decide they need to give another $15 million of our tax money to billionaire sports owners.”
Melyssa Donaghy who runs the blog Hoosiers for Fair Taxation noted that people are fed up with the back door deals and lack of transparency in how government operates. “The Revolt will include a call for ethics reform, including more transparency. People need to know what is going on in their government,” Donaghy said. “The conflicts of interest many of these politicians have need to be exposed and ended. We should not have our elected officials using their positions to make themselves and their friends richer at the expense of taxpayers.”

I live in a virulently socialist town, full of every type of leftie (college town), and I have seen no one canvassing anywhere except the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Obama people are not that good in math. They probably knocked on five doors and had a deficit of 999,995 doors. Wait a minute, they “invested” in five doors and the rest was a deficit.
I would open my door to these idiots, only to laugh at them and point to my Gadsden flag.
The problem with the Obama grass-roots is that now they’ve elected The One, they’re sitting back and waiting for Him to solve all their problems.

I Googled Gadsen flag and came up with 4 varieties of the coiled rattlesnake and “the don’t tread on me” statement. All slightly different variations of the same theme. Is there an “official” version that you are flying?
I’ve noticed some of the GOP establishment is embarrassed by the tea-party movement. I begin to hear comments like “the Tea Party stunt isn’t communicating a message except to a fringe who was already fired up and ready to march.”
Once again, the GOP belittles the only people in the coalition willing to oppose the march of Neo-Marxst Obamunism.
I don’t think we’re ever going to see a group called “Moderate Republicans for more Circumspection and Caution About this Sort of Thing” take to the streets.
If I’m approached by the Brown Shirts, I’m taking a page from Hussein’s own political playbook and get in their faces with my political views.
I’m just wondering if they were tapping their feet and jingling their change while they were knocking on those doors.

Well I managed to annoy a lib today. Went out to lunch and the ACLU volunteers were out trying to get people to sign an anti Prop 8 petition. Told her we had no business interferring in another states sovereignty and she gave me the dirtiest look. Made my day.

One thing I’ve noticed about the Tea Party protests; a couple of weeks ago when you did a google search it came up with tea rooms and being a hostess. Today when you do a search, not just on the news, but the web, there is still a mix, but the fourth hit down is now about the protests.
Leaving out the part that it’s not a direction in which any rational thinking individual will want to go.

Obama was foolish to play his call-out-the-troops card on THAT. It’s because he thinks that This Moment is is only opportunity to force through his socialist agenda. I think things will continue to get uglier for Obama and us, he’s on a political capital spending spree, he’ll have nothing left when the rubber hits the road.
Unfortunatley this is just the calm before the storm. Most of the Obamabots are probably in orientation and classing up for training at the moment. When all those little friggers realize their welfare checks depend on how many protests they attend, we’re gonna be swamped in ‘activists’.

The likely explanation for how underwhelming the Obamabots have been may be because they are probably mostly college students too young to vote.
They are no match for us conservatives who routinely scare the bejeezers out of DC when we swamp them with faxes, phone calls and e-mails. And we don’t require government subsidies and paid “volunteers”. We are registered voters. Are the Obamabots? Are they even American citizens?
Socky, these are the exact same people who called us bigots over border enforcement, extremists because we actually have a list of principles, and whiners because we pointed out the economy was crashing.

The last budget President Bush signed was for 2008 and that was a $150 Billion annual deficit plus a one time $300 Billion tax refund. He refused to sign Queen Pelosi pork spending budget for the 2009 year and spending was locked in at the previous rate except for the bailouts.

One of my niece was accosted in a shopping mall. The guy was in a group of 8 & wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. Jamie had her little-ones with her, (incl 3mo old) and when they got rude & pushy, bordering on menacing, she finally just signed it.

She was only partially surprised that the bozo accepted it as a genuine name. She would have been more combative, but not by herself, with all her children around. These people’s methods remind me of the incidents Dad tells about Union-thuggery from his younger days. They’re going to push until there is an incident, and the MSM will paint the self-defense as an attack — giving the ObamaForce cause to be “as well equipted as the military”. I’m certain of this.
