President Snippy: The video
I mentioned in my liveblog of the POTUS/TOTUS show that President Obama got testy when asked by Ed Henry why his administration took so long to respond publicly to the AIG bonus botch. RCP clipped the video:
OBAMA: “It took us a couple of days because I like to know what I’m talking about before I speak.”
File that one away for the future. It explains a lot.

The problem with this is that it took him a couple of days — and he still got it wrong. If you’ll recall, Obama and his team first claimed to know nothing about the bonuses, and then modified that claim to knowing nothing about the amendment in the omnibus plan that allowed them to get paid. Subsequently, we discovered that not only did Tim Geithner and Congress discuss the bonuses on March 3rd (and that Geithner wrote an e-mail about them while with the New York Fed in November), but that it was Geithner and his staff that directed Chris Dodd to make the necessary changes to the amendment that enabled the bonuses. In otherwords, Outraged Obama made the bonuses possible.
Even the press laughed at this Obamateurism. Even after a couple of days on an issue, Obama doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

He wants to know what he’s talking about before he speaks? If that were the case, our president would never say anything.

It took him two days to get his teleprompter ready. He never knows what he is talking about even with it. How can someone be outraged when they are part of the problem?

I don’t have a problem with the President declining to shoot from the hip. I am much more bothered by his getting it wrong as Ed pointed out.

Has any other President taken questions in that fashion? (Serious question) I cannot recall if anyone else has ever read off the reporters names in an order like that.
Isn’t it funny that president snippy can’t even pronounce the word Orion? When he was referring to Orion Energy, he pronounced it Oar-ee-on. Now, come on. You are supposed to be educated?Orion, often referred to as “The Hunter,” is a prominent constellation– one of the largest, most conspicuous, and most recognizable in the night sky.

All of this incitement of mobs against the poor folks at AIG is going to come back to bite them in the butt! They go find a bunch of union thugs, put them on a bus and take them to private homes…and they think it won’t cause a public backlash? Gimme a break!

Why wasn’t the follow-up question along these lines?

I am trying to think of a word in the English language that has an “io” in it where the “i” is pronounced with a long “e” sound. It’s the English language, so the exception probably exists, but I cannot currently think of one.
So, even if he’s not into stars, you would think that the “io” was an obvious pronunciation.

My husband was out of work for several months last year. Here was our bitter, clingy strategy: less income, less spending.

I can’t decide my favorite part. Was it when he said he wanted to reduce medical costs by having the government take it over? Yeah, that government regulation will streamline everything and cut costs.
Was it when the Jet Magazine reporter asked about tent cities and America’s 2% homeless child rate?

To bad he didn’t take the time to know what he was talking about with regard to the porkulus.
Somebody needs to do the math on 2 days for ever 165 Million dollars and see what that would translate too in time for considering the Porkulus.
That is a very good strategy, highly recommended. In fact I want you to take the next four years off so that you can really contemplate your next response. Take all the time you need, we’ll be waiting.

Neither of us could remember a single one, nor had we seen any homeless children living under bridges as the reporter alleged.

Hope-a-Dope reminds me of the Orangutan character in the movie, “Jungle Book,” who at one point in the film breaks into a song which includes the lyrics,
“I’ve reached the top,
And had to stop,
And that’s what’s bothering me!”
Left with nothing higher to campaign for, Hope-a-Dope finally has to deliver. And that’s plainly bothering him.
I guess Pelosi will intoduce a bill soon that will change all of our astronomical pronunciations to match the great one’s “oar-ee-on”. The planets will be meekyouree, vainous, girth, bars, jumpingter, spaturn, ouranus, nepotune, and bluetoe, or whatever else he wants to call them.
