Now, they tell us – Pt II: AP really catching on to Obama math!

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 27, 2009 05:54 PM

I’m going to have to make this a series. Earlier this week, I noted a belated report from the Associated Press delving into the fuzzy porkulus jobs numbers proffered by the Obama administration.

Well, it looks like the AP is really catching on to this bogus math thing. The wire service has a new analysis of the porkulus jobs numbers being challenged by the state of Massachusetts. The title?

“Estimate of Mass. stimulus jobs uncertain at best”

Naw! You don’t say!

State officials overseeing the federal economic stimulus program in Massachusetts say they have no idea how the White House came up with one key pledge—the promise to save or create 79,000 jobs in the state.

They say they’re not even sure how to measure saved jobs—and fear the jobs figure sets an unrealistic yardstick against which the success or failure of the program will be measured.

“The federal estimate of 79,000, we really don’t know what’s behind that, we just plain don’t,” Jeffrey Simon, Director of Infrastructure Investment in Massachusetts, told The Associated Press. “I’m not saying it’s not 79,000, but I just don’t have any way of knowing that,” he said.

Simon and his counterparts overseeing the distribution of stimulus funds in Massachusetts said concerns about the state jobs numbers were raised at a meeting earlier this month in Washington between state and federal leaders.

Massachusetts Undersecretary of Administration and Finance Jay Gonzalez also attended the Washington meeting and said other states complained that issuing job estimates undercut the administration’s vow of transparency because it was unclear where the estimates came from.

Gonzalez said he was asked at one point how he might come up with a jobs estimate and pointed federal officials to a state task force report, but cautioned them the estimate was very rough and came with “qualifications all over it.”

He said he was surprised when the state was presented with the estimate of 79,000.

“We have no idea where that number came from and now we’re going to be measured against it,” Gonzalez told the AP. “They haven’t even decided yet how they are going to require that we measure new and retained jobs.”

Next thing you know, they’ll discover that the porkulus was nothing more than a massive act of Generational Theft.

    Government. Idiots.

“This pork-barrell spending is going to save 79,000 jobs.” How do you know? Every government spending program is rife with fraud. I’d be surprised if it saves 79 jobs.

They? The government has not yet decided how they are going to cook the books but we are supposed to believe them?

I too know some liberals who are still laboring in suffering from Obama Worship and have yet to see the light (much less to realize it is just another train coming to bowl them over) and have yet to figure out how to open their eyes. You cannot be logical or reasonable with someone who is not logical or reasonable. The fact that this questioning of BO is coming from the liberal bastion of the Kennedy’s does give me some hope.

That what I love abt you bear1909, you are always optimistic.

    Personally, I think we’ll find that 28% is really low-obamaing low-balling it…

As far as wheelbarrors of bread for a loaf of bread, I think we’ll windup w/gov. issuied debit/ration cards. They’re moving up legislation to criminalize family farms, small farms, and even gardens — so growing your own food will be — verboten! (Heil! Der Pecks!)

I think the US monetary system is going to collapse by/in Dec 2010, but then, I’m a nut who’s been putting 20% of my gross pay into precious-metals for the last decade. (not cert.s, but actual precious-metal coins, I also have a low trust-threshold  ).

We dipped into it to payoff Dad’s medical bills, and finalize purchases for retirement prior to out-processing. Nothing left but sign out of TLF on Tuesday, go turn-in my CAC card & our family’s IDs, then drive out to our next adventure!

    Aside:
I do hope my coin-storage becomes an herloom, though I suspect it won’t.
