Introducing “Barack Obama Academy”
It’s official:
The Oakland school board has voted to change the name of a small school to Barack Obama Academy, reportedly the first middle school in the country to adopt the name of the nation’s 44th president.
While Obama has been in office fewer than 100 days, the 35 students at the former Alternative Learning Community public school persuaded the board Tuesday to make what they said was a historic change.
Several students prepared statements and then sat for hours Tuesday night waiting for their turn.
“They sat there 3 1/2 hours before they were allowed to speak,” said their school principal, Toni McElroy. “They carried themselves Barack-like.”
The students told the board the old name was too negative, district officials said. The students received a standing ovation at the meeting after the unanimous vote.
“These are students that people have written off,” McElroy said. “They were able to see that if you really push and if you really are motivated and consistent that you can make a change.”
The students celebrated Wednesday shouting the new name throughout the halls, the principal said.
A commenter at SFGate.com diagnoses the problem perfectly: “If the name of the school, rather than the achievement of educational excellence, is the motivating factor for the kids then the school is very much like its namesake…lots of slogans, lots of hype, no substance.”

LGM would not give credit if a school in Afganistan was named after Bush, LGM and his kind would rather live under Sharia law then admit credit. The guy cannot even be honest enough to show my statements on these things or be genuine about what I have stated. RetFireman, I’m trying to show you that The Obama Forum, and only The Obama Forum, is a fraud. A very glaringly obvious fraud. I’m not talking about the other sites that you linked to. You have repeatedly posted links to The Obama Forum, claiming it’s a legitimate site when it is not. I know that you’re a smart man and that’s why it bothers me that you can’t see this for what it is: a fraud. Tell me something: if that was a legitimate forum of Obama supporters, do you really think people would use avatars of fried chicken, cotton, nooses, whips, confederate flags, etc.? Do you really think people would reward each other for good ideas with links to coupons for KFC and Popeye’s? Do you really think that people are going around taking pictures of cars with bumper stickers that aren’t in support of Obama and that the vast majority of those stickers just happen to support Ron Paul? Do you really think that people on the forum are turning in names of non-Obama supporters so that they can be executed in FEMA camps? How obvious does it need to be in order for you to get it? Google “Fred Thompson Forum” and see what comes up. It’s the EXACT SAME PEOPLE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING.
Why don’t you ask Michelle to take a look at it? If she tells you it’s a fraud, will that be enough or will you think she’s just joined the enemy?

In Texas, “alternative school” is (or was, at least) polite speak for “students with criminal records.”

I think it’s parsimonious and bitter to complain about every honorarium to Obama. The guy is the President of the USA.
Naming a school after the Messiah Obama is in accord with past precedent. However, there is already a move afoot to construct a new national monument of Obama to commemorate his election as the first black man to occupy the White House. Suggestions have ranged from a major sculpture on a mountain to an Obama monument in Washington DC.
Please wake me up when the idol worship is over…..

It’s obvious to me that Oakland, CA is the model that the Dems are holding up for all communities in the US to envy desire to emulate. Once we’ve all been turned inside-out, and upside-down, then we’ll enter our Obama-Utopia era, with 90% illiteracy and 100% dependency.
