Another day, another troop smear

That Great American Patriot Bill Maher smears our troops serving in Japan and Germany: “At some point these people are going to have to learn to rape themselves.”
Two quick things:
1) You’ll note that liberals have nothing to say about U.N. “peacekeepers” raping women and children around the world.
2) This story has gotten little attention here at home, but the woman who accused Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith of rape in the Philippines has recanted:
The Philippines rape conviction of an Okinawa-based Marine has taken a bizarre twist.
The woman, now 25 and known publicly only as “Nicole,” changed her story last week and now says she is not sure that Lance Cpl. Daniel Smith raped her in a van in Subic Bay more than three years ago.
In a sworn statement notarized March 12 and submitted to the Philippines Court of Appeals on Tuesday, she said she may have had too much to drink with Smith at a bar called the Neptune Club the evening of Nov. 1, 2005.
“My conscience continues to bother me, realizing that I may have in fact been so friendly and intimate with Daniel Smith at the Neptune Club that he was led to believe that I was amenable to having sex or that we simply got carried away,” she said in a five-page statement posted on several media Web sites.
Court of Appeals officials could not provide Stars and Stripes a copy of the statement Wednesday but confirmed by telephone that it was accurate and released by them.
Smith, now 23, was convicted and sentenced to 40 years in a Philippines prison. He is being held on the U.S. Embassy compound in Manila pending his appeal and negotiations between U.S. and Philippines officials concerning the country’s Supreme Court ruling in February that holding Smith at the embassy was a violation of the bilateral Visiting Forces Agreement.
“I would rather risk public outrage than do nothing to help the court in ensuring that justice was served,” Nicole said in the statement.
Smith has always contended the sex was consensual.
It remained unclear Wednesday what effect Nicole’s statement would have on Smith’s appeal.
Secretary of Justice Raul Gonzalez, the country’s highest-ranking jurist, said Wednesday that such reversals are “rarely accepted” as new evidence in the appeals process, according to a Justice Department spokeswoman.
However, Gonzales acknowledged that Smith’s lawyers “can ask the Court of Appeals to declare a mistrial and then move for a dismissal of the case on the grounds that the evidence is not strong.”
The U.S. Embassy in Manila had no comment on the recent developments.
Nicole said she remembered little of what occurred inside the vehicle, but thought the rape story grew from her embarrassment upon gaining consciousness after being carried out of the van.

One more thing: Support the troops by supporting Soldiers’ Angels. They have an invaluable chapter in Germany, supporting wounded and ill coalition troops being treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

I fear for Bill Maher’s soul. He’s on the road to crispy-critterdom.
Bill Maher thinks he’s funny. I don’t see why.
Individual US soldiers in Japan have been convicted of rape. There is a movement in Japan to expel US troops for that reason. Maher is right to give this as reason not to keep large US forces in Japan. It hurts relations between the US and Japan, and is a waste of money.
Sorry b-cat.
My most fond memory of BM (fitting initials) is his rant about how two women deserved to be killed by their kidnappers for proselytizing. From that day on I have no desire to hear his voice.
That is an accurate statement. The orphanages in Haiti are filled with the product of UN rapes. Most babies are left to die somewhere.
lgm – using this logic, we should try to expell all mexican nationals for the offences of a few. There is no sense to the argument. Those who don’t want us there use the few to condem the many, because they don’t want us there under any conditions.
lgm,
Bill Maher is never right. About anything!!!
Figures. Idiots stick together.
That IS NOT the reason Japan wants to be rid of US troops.
Could you be more stupid? I am not sure how.
lgm- Great logic! I once knew of a serial killer whose first initial was “L.” Instead of giving you the benefit of the doubt, maybe we should just put everyone with that letter at the beginning of his or her name on death row. Brilliant. Not.
anyone think bill would have the balls to say some bs like that to a soldiers face .
I think not .
libs always feel safe and superior when there is little chance they might have to defend their words with the own hands.
Michelle,
Please pardon my language, but Bill Maher is a douchebag.
Years ago, when his guests were discussing the rebuilding of ground zero, it hadn’t been decided if another ‘Windows On The World’ would open atop whatever structure was to be created at the site.
Maher: “Why would they call it ‘Windows On The World’…? This country never opened it’s windows to anyone, so why….” (Loud applause)
Bill Maher just seriously sucks out loud.
LGM, maybe we can send all of the liberal patriots who sign up to defend our country to places like Japan and Germany. Your goal of reducing the numbers of troops around the world would quickly be met wouldn’t it because a liberal defender of our freedoms is an oxymoron.
The libs love the freedom to criticize and complain but rarely lift a finger in defending those rights.
Even in the civilian world, their charitable giving is abysmal. They love to support all of those benevolent charities but with other people’s money.
lgm, didn’t you read what I wrote to you about Asperger’s? You need to get help.
Idiot at Large
F*’r
US soldiers have been accused of a lot of things. Some US troops have committed crimes and been tried and convicted of those crimes in foreign countries. The US has Status of Forces Agreements (SOFA) with virtually every nation that hosts American soldiers. These SOFAs give the US the right to try the soldiers of crimes or turn them over to the host nation to try them. Sometimes the troops are found guilty and sometimes they are not. Let’s look at the record of foreign soldiers and US soldiers and see who has a better record or behavior. And who is more likely to be tried, convicted and punished by their military.
Look at Japanese culture and see how that culture “respects” women. Look at the phenomenon of “compensated dating” that is now common in Japan. Look at the incidences of Japanese school girls turning tricks to buy their new high tech gadgets. Tell me how that differs from prostitution anywhere else? One of the root causes of the problems in Japan is racism. They don’t like the fact that Japanese women are having sex with Americans. The same is true in Korea. We Americans are still considered racially inferior, hairy barbarians to much of the orient. So it is quite easy for a woman, or school girl, to have sex and with a GI or Marine then ignite a firestorm of protest by filing rape charges.
I can think of a lot of good reasons to bring troops home from places around the world. These few isolated events are not one of the good reasons.
On-my-soap-box said (#7):
Some people complain that I don’t stick around to debate. It’s hard to debate someone who just says “You’re wrong”. See for yourself.
Michele is right, WHY do we never hear a Liberal talk bad about United Nations Peacekeepers? I mean these people are pure SCUM PERIOD! As for Bill Mahr…I would Love to invite him to clean out my Outhouse…Considering he is already FULL OF IT!
All I have to say about this piece of DOG S*@T… This is the MAIN REASON I don’t have HBO on my system anymore…
My plagarized response to lgm and Bill Maher.
We live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with guns. Who’s going do it? You?
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain this to those who rise and sleep under the blanket of the very freedom those men with guns provide and then questions the manner in which they provide it. I would rather you just said “thank you,” to them and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a d**n what you think.
Careful. There is at least one former UN peacekeeper on this board.
You don’t stick around because you are at school. It is lunchtime, so you’re here. I know what you did last summer.
What is sad and sickening about this is that he made this remark because there is an audience receptive to this sort of “humor”.
While I do not have any military experience, and overseas position is a hardship: neighbors of mine, who moved here less than 2 years ago, now will be split apart as the husband/father has orders to transfer to Europe, but his family cannot follow as doing so would mean yanking their daughter out of high school in her sophomore year.
Rather than foam at the mouth here at Mr. Maher, shouldn’t a mass e-mail, etc., campaign be started targeting his show’s sponsors? That would get someone’s attention VERY quickly.
Seems like Bill isn’t getting outside the Bunny Hutch much? Not going to let facts get in his way, he can’t smear the Right with facts.
According to lgm, all soldiers except for US ones, are perfect little law abiding angels.
Yes. They cost the US money too. When will the deport them? /sarcasm
To liberals, rape is only a crime to be taken seriously when it’s perpetrated by US soldiers or Catholic clergy. When the UN does it, or a former Democratic president is accused of it, it’s suddenly not as big a deal…
Individual US troops in THE USA have been convicted of rape. LGM, should the entire US military also be expelled from the USA??? Or do you think we should keep them there to counter, say, North Korea and China????
DUH.
To Bill and LGM on this issue, may I be so baold as to talk for the rest of the troops when I say you can kiss my rear end. (toned WWWAAAYYY down for public consumption, the orginal involved his skull and copulation, i would definately get banned for that one)
UN peacekeeper……
Oh yes, the gallant defenders of Screbrenicia. They’ve been so effective…
OK, an incredibly tiny minority of young people in foreign countries commit crimes, no doubt at rates far lower than their civilian counterparts, and a**hat lgm joins in with the waste of flesh Bill Maher to rag on our servicemen?
I have a funny feeling Obama voters age 18 to 30 probably have a much higher incidence of criminal behavior than the people of our armed forces in the same age group.
Just a hunch…
Japan wouldn’t have a military presence if it weren’t for the U.S. military.
Actually, I think it is the opposite: that if it weren’t for the U.S. presence in Japan, its die-hard rightists would re-arm Japan, and the repercussions of that are….
From one who has lived there.
lgm said debate! Hold on a second:
HAHAHHAHHAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAA
:deep breath:
HAHHHAHAHHHAAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAA
You are a coward. You do not debate. You come here and make an asinine statement to see how many responses you can get in order to fulfill your desire to be loathed beyond your own self loathing. The day you actually desire to debate, I will be here waiting for it and I will be glad to take you to the wood shed on any subject including math.
Until then, I will continue to point out what an idiot you are – and so will others.
Thats me. The biggest customers for the forced prostitutes in bosina was our UN peacekeeper allies. In fact the US peacekeepers were the least offensive in this area there. Before, during, and AFTER the bosnian wars
lgm,
P.S.
To paraphrase you:
“That’s a big crowed there – in the dozens?”
Let’s debate your link and how a sign is proof.
PLEASE!!!
IDIOT
(Orwell/Kipling)
ditto.
Under this same logic, the entire human population needs to be removed, to mars I guess.
Bill Maher: Embodiment of Cynicism, Snark, Intolerance, and Ugliness.
The man is without a single redeeming quality. Even his intellect is of no value, as it is so poisoned by his nasty views.
I have lived overseas for 12 1/2 years. Take my word for it, if you are overseas your best friend is a US Soldier, Airman, Marine or Sailor.
I cannot tell you how many times I KNEW I was going to scammed, shafted and abused by “local” police and military.
Does a soldier sometimes err and break laws? You bet. And they are almost always swiftly dealt with by their military chain of command in ways that would make the ACLU scream bloody murder if it happened to one of the leftist scum they whine about perpetually. Be glad you are not subject to the UCMJ.
The idea that US troops overseas have a “license to rape” is absurd.
soap,
Regarding lgm’s MO, check out this post on Saturday and lgm’s response to it below:
He actually criticizes garydt for not engaging. Pretty bizarre, eh?
Michelle, thanks for the shout-out for Soldier’s Angels. Patty Patton-Bader is the founder, and great niece of General Patton. She started it in her garage after her deployed son “needed a few things”. It’s now grown to several hundred thousand “Angels”, me included, across the world. When soldiers who have been injured reach Germany, they generally have only what they wore when they were injured. SA provides a backpack with a blanket, toiletries, undies & sweats so they will have what they need. It’s an awesome organization!
I am afraid Michelle is doing what Maher wants. He says outrageous things to get attention and increase his ratings. If he is ignored, he will whither.
So Michelle, if you don’t like him to succeed, ignore him .
Having once been among those troops in both Japan and the Philippines, I will tell all of you this:
If a Marine is accused of such a heinous crime, he is dealt with according to the best balance of local law and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Period.
If he is guilty, his punishment in countries like the Philippines will be severe — far worse at times then the supposed torture at Club Gitmo. If he is “lucky” enough to serve in a military brig, it is no picnic either.
That said, this Marine will forever be tagged — guilty or not — by those around him as the proverbial albatross.
And LGM, you cannot lump the entire military into a cluster of rapists, simply because of one who may need to be removed from service.
Finally, the reasons that some in Japan want the US troops out are numerous (nuclear issues, independence of their Self-Defense Forces, or just plain anti-American hatred). Allegations of misconduct are an excuse — not a reason.
Andy Hefty
Former Sergeant of Marines
LMBO, wren! Show me a liberal who uses common sense/logic, and I’ll show you a closet conservative!
War Eagle and I were typing at the same time…
Semper FI!
As a former US Marine I can tell you we were more often the victims of petty theft and assault by locals than we were the perpetrators. Yeah, we got loud and drunk sometimes, but the locals are very keen to use our stupidity against us for monetary gain. Sometimes things get out of hand in all societies, and the military has its share of bad apples, but people always assume the worst of the GI in these situations.
Secondly, we are in Okinawa, Japan, Germany, South Korea and other garden spots because we have commitments to these nations to keep them safe. Without our protection Germany would have been unified by the Soviets in 1945, Japan retaliated against by China and colonized by the Soviets, South Korea enslaved by the North Koreans and Chinese in the 1950s…btw we’re still in Kosovo from Bill Clinton’s little adventure there. When we start talking about real base closures these countries beg us to stay, not only for protection, but also to keep their economies alive. During the base closings of the 90′s we closed lots of facilities in the US, but almost none outside the US.
Maher’s anti-American act gets a little old. Moreover, his obsession with religion borders on the pathological at times.
Lost in his snarky blast is the fact is that his overall point is dead right. It’s a pointless waste of manpower and resources to have 10s of thousands of US troops in Europe and Japan. Germany and Japan aren’t freaken threats, and our people need to be sent to Afghanistan where they’re needed. Our whole strategy in regards to overseas deployment needs to be revamped.
Your guy just signed us into debt for the next 50 years and now you want to count pennies?
As far as your “proof” that the Japanese want us out, I can show you news footage of people protesting the killing of a cold blooded 4 time cop killer. Does that make them right?
Bill Maher needs a swift kick to the crotch.
Bill Maher dated Ann Coulter. I wonder what they ever talked about. Perhaps they just did they’re talkin, non-verbally, between the sheets.
I could have lived 20 lifetimes without that mental image. UGH!
Now, now. I’m sure he got beaten up lots in high school: most smirky, supercilious, sanctimonious twits like him do. That’s why they have the eternal chip on their shoulders.
And those troops that ARE tried and convicted in civilian courts are also eligible to be tried by the UCMJ and a General Courts Martial AFTER their release from the civilian institutions beginning with a charge of AWOL or UA … and whatever else they may be charged with.
Let’s see the civilian courts here try that with a
foreign nationalillegal alien and because we believed in Justice, it would be a crime in and of itself here while it would be lauded when it happened overseas with one of the (VERY FEW) American servicemen who are ever even accused of a crime over seas. You can not be logical or reasonable with somebody who possesses neither of those qualities. To attempt to do so is the ultimate example of an exercise in futility.
I agree totally … and I wish many of you would apply the same rule to this utter moron lgm and the few others like him who come here and to other conservative blogs for one reason, and one reason only … to disrupt and obfuscate.
IGNORE THEM!
OK, enough of the diversion.
Why are our troops still in Japan and Germany? There is logic for it in South Korea, maybe Germany, but Japan?
Maher is no longer worth commenting on. He seems to be be racing Bathtub Boi for the most delusional person award.
To ensure that the flow of Pokemon and Hello Kitty merchadise is secure.
Hades has frozen over, and for once I must agree with LGM…(yes, please pick your jaw up from the floor).
I agree with his logic that American servicemen are the most vilest criminals on the face of the planet.
I agree with his logic that our troops commit wanton acts of carnage that make the UN Peacekeepers look like rank amateurs.
I agree with his logic that we should expell all of our troops off foreign soil.
But I also agree with his logic that he should be held to the same standards as the rest of conservatives.
But I also agree with his logic that all illegal immigrants that commit the same crimes as American servicemen should be expelled from the United States or summarily executed if their countries won’t take them back (and send a bill to their consultate like China does).
But I also agree with his logic that all math teachers should be in prison since they share the same profession of the Unabomber (Ted Kacynisky)
But I also agree with his logic that we should clean out some prime real estate in D.C. and expel all the diplomats whose countries are led by tyrannical dictators, those countries that no longer exist or whose diplomats (or their families) that commit violent crimes in the U.S.
But I also agree with his logic that the liberal anarchists should receive the same treatment via Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Tent City Jail.
So LGM, for once someone has agreed with you and held you to the same standards that you impose on us.
You can now return to your normally friendly MM thread.
GSP
“This is Sparta!”
Pardon me as I have to get ready for G-dam AmeriKKKa Wright’s appearance on friday night at the University of Memphis.
Saying that Bill Maher is an irrelevant, inflammatory moron is redundant so I will dispense will calling him a jerkface.
If someone commits a crime or offends a local custom, he should pay the price. Fair enough. He has to actually commit the crime, however, not be accused of it. He certainly shouldn’t be used as an example. Furthermore, some in other countries may treat women like crap. The West should be a beacon as to how all people should be treated. That way no one has anything to fall back on in terms of accusations or insults.
Just my thoughts.
They are there for rapid deployment to the countries who are threats. It is called pre-positioning and it works.
lgm, et al., the big difference between our troops and other forces including the foreign UN peacekeepers is are troops are held accountable for their actions. End of story.
Exactly. I don’t even see the need for troops in Germany. The Cold War is long over. Troops in Japan makes no sense.
Even if we need some troops(for whatever reason), the sheer number of troops we have deployed in these places literally number in the 10s of thousands. It’s excessive, and they’re needed in the Middle East and to a much lesser extent, South Korea.
This is hardly a lefty talking point, and I’m pretty sure Pat Buchanan has made similar points.
Uh, “our” not “are”. Ugh. (stupid monkey)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6fOJgweRy4
It actualy got worse. Language warning.
Yeah, let’s put our foreign policy, or worse, our strategic policies in the hands of Pat Buchanan. Jeez. Buchanan is an idiot. He should stick to selling indulgences.
China and North Korea would be the first things to come to mind. Taiwan also comes to mind, though that would get ugly and stationing troops there is not a viability.
Then again, at the rate this administration is going, China will own enough of the USA where they never have to fire a shot. They already own enough of our debt to accomplish that. However, if a shooting war were to ensue, I am certain you would want some soldiers between you and that nasty old invading army. I seriously doubt that you would find them quite so easy to appease as those radical right-wingers.
Tell Putin and Georgia that. Also Poland. Russia literaly has a military base on thier borders.
They are a base to support South Korea. If you knew anything about military affairs, you would know that.
What countries are such immediate threats that we need so many troops in Germany and Japan? And why so many? I’d think that our presence in South Korea and Iraq allow for rapid deployment to fight any plausible country that may strike an ally. Wouldn’t at least like to see these numbers halved, and the rest sent to Afghanistan and Paksitan?
I absolutely reject the notion that Coulter dated Maher. That is an IQ test. Ann has never failed one. Although, somehow the Ragin’ Cajun continues to hoodwink Mary Matalin.
As for the military, God bless them. We have a lot of friends and family in the service. Many of my male cousins were Marines. The courage they display is impressive and inspiring. If there’s a bad apple now and then, resolve and move on. Nothing should be allowed to denigrate the ongoing tradition of the American military.
Eagle, even in Mexico or maybe I should say especially in Mexico, local police as well as the Federales can be an issue in the tourist areas. Travel agents have disappeared after being taken into custody. My stepdaughter and her friends were approached in Acapulco by Federales and unsuccessfully threatened by extortion. She’s from Nebraska and while liberal, still knows which buttons to push. It is also easy to obtain uniforms so it’s not always clear if the individuals confronting you are actually legit. We stick to Cozumel now. That island thinks it is a country. We watched a purse snatcher late one night get run down by dozens of local citizens and business operators. Hopefully the police were called at some point because frontier justice was dealt by all. They take their tourist industry very seriously. We left when they began ripping his clothes off. The next day the hotel manager assured us he was a “mainlander.”
North Korea, China, and Russia.
Wouldn’t you at least like to see
I don’t agree with the posters who think it is best if we ignore this spurious attack by BM.
For far too long, we have demurred to this kind of attitude and talk. Stand up and defend this country and those who protect her.
We must shout it to the rooftops that they hate America and the forces that insure her freedoms.
Why in Germany & Japan? Simple. Commitment. We are committed to being there, not just for protecting other nations and our own interests, but commitment to our troops’ ability to be ready anywhere at the drop of a hat. Places like Iwakuni in Japan are “first responders” when a regional flare-up takes place and a carrier is not as close.
Think of this issue:
When the US left the Philippines in 1992, what major group took over the island of Mindanao and set up a stronghold?
None other than Abu Sayyaf, an al Queda affiliate. Much international terrorism is planned there. I could go on, but hopefully, you get the picture.
Is it a waste of money because you don’t like the military, or is it a waste of money because you are an isolationist? Exactly how many members of the US military have been convicted of raping Japanese women? What percent of the military population does this represent over the time from, say, the end of the occupation to now? Come on, sparky! Get started cranking out your bullsh!t.
ECS
China is not a military threat to us or any ally to the extent that we’d fight with them. Russia is not a military threat to us or an ally to the extent that we’d fight with them.
Noticed you left out Korea…
Also, what about Poland or other nations bordering/near China or Russia? Do we not have an obligation to defend them if those nations are hostile?
China is a north korean ally and threatens to invade tiawan on a regular basis. READ THE NEWS.
Russia has repeatably made military threats to us allies to include Georgia, Ukraine, the baltic states, and Poland.
All of which Russia has military bases close to. Man you need to read more.
Interesting answer. Thanks. Folks with more experience then me have made these decisions, I’d just like to see what the logic is, and whether it’s possible cut the numbers down to help our cause in the Middle East. Good take.
Bill Maher is a hopelessly insecure man, terrified of growing old and insignificant who tries to fill his life and ego with Playboy playmates and the Hollywood lifestyle. If he didnt do these things he would be forced to look into the black void that is himself and be confronted with his own meaningless existence. Sorry to wax philosophical, but that is how I see this man. He is to be pitied if anything.
Having lived in South Korea, I can say, no matter how leftist some people are, they are DAMN glad the Americans are there. The Americans offer security against China’s vassal state, North Korea, put money into the economy and teach their kids English (though they would much rather have Canadians teach their kids- it is true). There are Americans who behave badly but, by and large, people are generally civil.
73 and 74.
We would never get into a military conflict with China whether they invaded Taiwan or not. Nor would we ever engage in the mother of all wars and militarily confront Russia if it invaded one of its former sisters. The best we could do is scold and give financial assistance to the invadees.
These countrie are not immediate threats, and if they were by some all inclusive definition, we wouldn’t start WW3 over a local territorial dispute. Of course NK is a different story. I’d like to see the troop presence cut down and #71 makes more sense than other ideas discussed to me.
73 and 7474 and 75.Sigh. I’m done.
#79 Thats exactly the thinking that got us world war two.
They really need to start teaching history in this country.
undresiege, not to beat that horse some more but a lot of training goes on in Germany and Japan that could not be done in conjunction with “real world” duties. So we house and train forces half way around the world as rapid response forces. It works very well as a contingency we hope we will never need.
I wish I was as confident as you are about Russia and China. All contingencies are real contingencies.
Yeah, history makes my point. Why do you think the Cold War was Cold? You’re obviously in the mood to be a snarky little bi!*$, so I’ll just leave things lay and move on.
P.O.
Thanks. Got it. If possible, I’d like to see if this could be done with lower troop numbers. Just revisit the issue, but if we can’t adjust, we can’t adjust. It’s just been a head scratcher for me.
thanks
Amen
and
Amen
Try reading a history book. God liberals are dunces. Specificaly look at how the USA in the pacfic thought Japan would NEVER attack pearl harbor. Or how a lack of military resolve emboldened Hitler. We have hawks running Russia who have already invaded one country and have threatened NATO allies!!!
READ A BOOK!!!!
Clearly.
First off, i want to make the point that making an example out of a few remote cases of abuse by GI’s overseas is absurd. If we follow this reasoning for eliminating those GI’s, then Geitner and every democrat should be removed from service!
Every day I read the Philippine Enquirer online (www.pressdisplay.com).
This story has an interesting twist: “Nicole” has mysteriously obtained a visa for entering the US and is in this country now. This right after she recanted her story to Smith’s attorney. Let me assure you that single, 25 year old Filipinas do not get a tourist visa to enter the US! I feel she was bought out by the US State Department in order to retain our Visiting Forces Agreement with the Philippines.
Just my observation and correct me if I’m wrong, our service men and women need to be in diverse areas of the world in order to be able to react quickly to threats? What percentage of Filipinos actually want Americans out? Not very many! The Philippines has a very small handful of liberals, just like in the US, that make noise perceived as coming from a larger representation of the population than is actually true.
The vast majority of Pinoys that I interact with while in their country WANT AMERICANS THERE. Do most Germans and Japanese object to our presence? Bill Moyer is an arrogant, pompous fool to think he knows what Filipinos want, and comes across as lacking intellect to infer that we have 80,000 rapists in Japan and Germany.
Absolutely correct.
Let me rephrase that…
The U.S. military is the only military in Japan.
One reason I think our armed forces are the greatest and most honorable in the world.
The Cold War was Cold for a reason sport.
Were we going to physically confront Russia over the most recent invasion? No. Most understand why. Only an fool thinks we’d get WW3 started over China invading Taiwan or Russia invading a former Soviet satellite. We’d sanction, boycott, condemn, give $, and train, but we wouldn’t act militarily againt China or Russia under your scenarios.
It’s really laughable that you make cracks about reading books despite your constant spelling problems. Seriously:
Learn to spell before you make cracks about “reading”.
I offer my respect to those who gave some thoughts without being snarky little bit!$#! with spelling problems. I typically never make grammar or spelling an issue on a blog because it’s lame and silly, but sonofdy takes things to another level, and was begging for this response.
It’s lunch time.
Bill Marred has a history of abusing his black paramour. So, he’s both an oppressor of black people, and a cowardly spit-stain on the face of humanity.
Why anyone with a brain listens to anything he says is mysterious.
I can help you with #79, by using Obamaspeak.
YES WE WOULD!

Having soldiers stationed in foreign countries always leads to problems. The better trained the soldiers, the fewer problems. That’s why US soldiers have less problems than “UN” soldiers (actually troops from thirld world countries with inadequate training. The UN does not have an army of its own.)
Intelligence tests include a section where the person hears a sequence of words or numbers and tries to repeat them back. You’ve flunked that section.
undersiege, for a cold war, we sure seemed to lose a lot of service people. korea, vietnam, bosnia, the middle east, all of which had one thing in common, us versus communist backed entities.
i personally think we should bring home all our troops, and let the world fight it out amongst themselves, we’ll be like europe and sell weapons to whoever has the cash. but knowing our politicians the first time the msm showed some poor child dead, we’d have to go save them again. so we might as well keep them there, but i would demand the host country pay for them under their defense budget.
Are you kidding? Have you seen the news lately about the recent actions of our “friendly” comrades in Russia?
I don’t know if someone has already mentioned this…no time to read all the comments yet…but I will! Anyway, during one of Maher’s rants, he said, “I know that sucking a baby out of its mother’s womb and destroying it is murder. I just don’t care.” I’m paraphrasing, but that is pretty close to what he said. I believe it was on Leno.
Our soldiers in Germany and Japan aren’t there because Germany and Japan are threats but because they are allies and have recently faced external security threats.
We have about 42K troops in Germany right now. That is down from more than 256K when I was a kid. The troops in Germany are arguably less critical than troops in other locations. Yet the bases in Europe serve as valuable staging locations for Central Asia. Troops in Japan are in a position to offer direct operational support to Korea and the rest of the Pacific. Remove those bases and you unleash China and the PRC. Ask the Philippines Air Force and Navy how much more aggressive the PRC has been since the US vacated Clark and Subic Bay.
You are right that we should rethink our foreign deployments from time to time. But we aren’t occupying Japan and Germany and that isn’t why we have had troops there for the last 40 years.
1. He was poking fun at you.
2. You did notice.
3. The test you tout is for teaching children to speak and do math not an intelligence test. You are proof of that.
4. You flunk every test.
5. Is that an attempt at debate? Keep in mind you ruled out “You’re wrong.”
Bill Maher is a spineless, useless, waste of skin. Moron, idiot, I cannot think of words to properly denigrate him.
