Are our business and law schools failing us?
Compared to what our science and engineering graduates are producing for our country, you really have to wonder.
What are they teaching in business schools? Epic failure?
What are they teaching in law schools? Twisting, bending, contorting and ignoring the U.S. Constitution?
Geez…don’t give them any ideas. Seriously!
Spent the moring doing spring cleaning of the rural church cemetary at the church I stated attending two years ago. The church was founded in 1864 and most of th graves until 1930 are engraved in German. It was good to tend to the graves of those wonderful people who settled here, built their own church, and worshiped with their families in freedom so long ago.
They deserve to be remembered.
I was at an event where Carl Rove and Juan Williams were speakers yesterday.
Both were FAR better than Obama…and that is not saying a heck of a lot.
Rush Limbaugh held forth for 90 minutes, said several profound things, and never appeared to have a note in hand.
Obama is credited with being this brilliant speaker…a master of discourse…
sorry, it is apparent to me that all he can do is read lines well.
Outside of that, he’s an gaffe machine and an empty suit.
Rachel Ray disappointed me the other day! I love her. And I record her show when I am not home. The other day one of her guests mentioned Ronald Reagan and she said, “I didn’t agree with his politics, but he was a nice enough guy”. So she is another lib. I should have figured that, but I just didn’t want to KNOW it! When will these entertainers learn to leave politics out of their shows…unless they are opinion/political shows? That didn’t need to be said…and now I feel differently toward her. She doesn’t go on liberal rants, so maybe it was just a slip. It won’t stop me from watching her show, but doggone it…why do they do that?
It’s soo hard to look confident when ,clearly, uuhh , they just don’t make a teleprompter like they used to do.
Good for you…I LOVED hearing that! I wrote a mystery novel based on a 100-year-old murder and a genealogist who solved it. There are parts of it that take place in old cemeteries. She finds her ancestor in an old, run-down deserted cemetery behind the foundation of an old Lutheran church. As a genealogist, I have spent plenty of time in cemeteries mainly in Vermont, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Indiana and Minnesota. They definitely deserve to be cared for and respected.

I’ve finally got some time and I’m using it to watch the John Adams miniseries that HBO ran. So far, it’s awesome.
D’uhmBO appears to have a compulsive need for his teleprompter crutch. This, together with his thin-skinned prickliness, bespeak a lack of confidence. Could it be the One is flawed?
Maybe the teleprompter will run, by itself, in 2012. Not much “hope”, but one heck of a “change”. It seems to work better than the President we have now.

I generally tune in for her cooking segments and kind of skip through the rest…I work around the house or whatever. It is a silly habit and I probably should just stop watching. I am hooked on Days of our Lives, which I have watched since the 1960’s! You can ask me anything about that show from its beginning and I bet I know the answer!

Not published yet. In fact, not even named, although I have a few ideas. I just completed it this winter after working on it for five years and my family is reading it now. They will make suggestions and then I will edit. It is pretty well done, but I do want to enrich some of my characters a bit. If I do get it published, I will let you know! Publishing is extremely difficult and I may end up self-publishing.
By the way, I went to a writer’s retreat in Maui a few years ago and one of the people in my study group was a doctor who wrote a medical mystery. One day, I walked into Barnes and Noble and there was his book right by the front door! I had his e-mail address and wrote him to congratulate him. There were some famous authors at that retreat, including John Saul. Also there the following week for the screenplay section was Ron Howard. I slaved away in class all day while my husband snorkled and “people-watched”, that dirty old man.
Nice to know there are a couple sure sales of my book! Thanks you guys!

I canceled my subscription to Rachel Ray’s magazine two years ago, after she promoted al gore’s ‘inconvenient troof’ on her tv show and gave away dvd copies to her audience. I let her know about it in my email; I received the standard reply and a refund.
I don’t miss her-
or Tyson, or Coke or Kohl’s (vera wang and ashley judd), or The Gap etc.

Should conservatives support Obama’s Afghanistan Adventure?
I will make this quick. David Horowith, who has taken an intense disliking to Conservatives of late, has raised this question. Though his answer is an emphatic ‘Yes,’ I have my doubts, but I am interested in what others think and that includes MM. To be blunt, I see this “mission” as lacking purpose and definition; that it is without a point and without a plan, exit or otherwise.
We no longer have a War on Terror. Now we have a war on “man-made disasters,” whatever the hell that means (e.g. negligent building contractors?) [Indeed, why not "person-made disasters" just to be safe.] By now Obama and his minions have so thoroughly corrupted the language I have no idea what they are saying. Moreover, I don’t believe Horowitz does either, though he clearly thinks he does.
Giving an open-ended comittment to this whatever-it-is, strikes me as a trap. I doubt Obama has any interest in winning in any event. I do know if things go south, he will be the first to say that “Republicans/Conservatives were there with me and in fact, pushed me into it.” Recall Clinton in Somalia?
And that may be the only intent, that is, to serve as a distraction while he goes hog wild at home. Since Obama is far closer in spirit to the Taliban than to the average American, I see no reason for anyone on the Right to invest anything this. None. Just as there is nothing for conservatives in backing Obama on any of his domestic policies.
Sorry David, but the enemy is now entrenched at home and that is where the fight must be waged.

This is a prime example of how NOT to depend on a teleprompter when giving a speech. I gave numerous speeches during my professional career and never once depended on a teleprompter. The idea is NOT to read your speech from a machine, paper, tv screen or anything. If you do, it is obvious that you are doing so and you lose credibility with the people that are paying attention. Obama’s problem is that he depends on someone to write his speech for him, thus he is not familiar with it. Then he READS this unfamiliar speech from a machine, not knowing enough about the speech to recover when he loses his place. It is just ridiculous. Oh, by the way, I have never had a speech written for me in my life. The idea is stupid to me. Most speeches are intended to inspire people. If I want to inspire people, then I want to inspire them with my own words and thoughts, not someone elses. And I don’t believe the excuse that speech writers are necessary because the speaker is just soooo busy. BS. If this is true, then your priorities are screwed up because if you have time to GIVE a speech, then you MUST dedicate the time to yourself to WRITE it.

The reporter decodes what Obama is thinking as he flubs his way through an answer. If you try to read just Obama’s answer it disintegrates into pretty much meaningless gibberish by the end, and then just stops.
And just today I tried to read a Susan Estrich column about Obama – she defends him as “brilliant”. I’m not sure which of the two is the bigger idiot.

This man has put his life on the line repeatly to help this country out and has paid a large price for it and for the State Dept. to put him on a 3 year waiting list because he stole a car from Uday to escape after being captured during Saddam’s war with the Kurds is outragous.

He is so used to saying speeches written for him that he has yet to be profound with his own words, stating his true beliefs. When left on his own to answer questions, he babbles on.

I’ve read all the reasons we keep subsidizing Europe with our military protection/presense, but dang – I’d love to cut them off at the ankles and let them lie awake nights wondering if/when someone is going to either shut off their oil supplies or flat out bomb them….instead, many on this side of the pond seem to lie awake and worry whether Europe likes us or not! And, if they don’t, how can we make the booboo better?
I’m not sure what to make of this. He clearly is anti-war. So sending more troops to Afghanistan is very suspicious. He has to have a political motive for doing so, as he has for everything else he does. Nothing is done simply for the good of our country. It is ALL politically motivated.

His sitting through Wright’s diatribes on the USA and his wife who has said that the USA is a downright mean country. His effort to Europeanise the USA, if he is successful, will only create a vacuum that Russia and Iran will be only too happy to fill.

I have a problem with the lending institutions however. Not avoiding personal responsibility, etc. However the lending institutions DID take advantage of folks and DID take advantage of loop holes in the current regulations. NO NO NO I don’t not want socialism. I do not want nor expect the goverment to “fix” my life. But at what place, what juncture does someone rebalance the relationship between debtors and lenders to stop generations of endentured servants/servanthood?
The Old Testament and the way it was suppose to work brought this very thing to light in that every 7 years debt was to be canceled, land returned, etc.
You can’t keep growing a country IF the relationship amongst its citizens is dominated by the kind of servanthood unyielding debt presents. AND part of the “unyielding” in “unyielding” IS the fault of the financial institutions in this country.
Does not mean Obama’s fix is going to fix it.
Just that its not JUST folks who stupidly mishandled debt.
