Bob Beckel appeared on Fox News this morning to sneer at the nationwide event. He derided tax revolters in Montana, joking that “It was a good thing it wasn’t a vodka party, because I guarantee you they all had guns.” Bigoted Beltway jerk. Beckel also claimed the Tea Parties were “nothing new” and recycled the debunked Playboy website report (deleted from the site) spreading false and illogical rumors that the grass-roots movement is directed from the GOP, national tax groups, and CNBC.
Oh, they wish. The truth is that thousands of people across the country who have never participated in local activism before have driven this phenomenon which started well before Rick Santelli’s now-famous rant. Without the legions of folks who are involved with TCOT Report, DontGoMovement, and Smart Girl Politics, this phenomenon wouldn’t exist. Untold numbers of protesters are as sick of GOP capitulation and Beltway Republican cravenness as they are of Democrat wealth redistributionism. The left-wing conspiracy theorists give Beltway GOP swamp creatures far too much credit. They couldn’t have pulled off hundreds of protests over the past month and hundreds more to come if they tried. There are individual fiscal conservatives in Washington who have carried the torch. But tax protesters have been very vocal that the Republican party establishment is in so many ways a part of the problem, not the solution.
This is every bit as much about Obama as it is about the GOP lemmings who voted for endless bailouts, who demonized their fiscal conservative colleagues who had their heads on straight, and who continue to sponsor and vote for massive government expansions like the $6 billion national service boondoggle.
For the next 9 days, the left-wing blogosphere and left-wing clueless pundits will hammer away with their unreality-based Tea Party smears.
And on the ground, the tax-subsidized and Soros-subsidized troops are going to try and wreak havoc every way they can. Many readers and fellow bloggers have seen signs that ACORN may send in ringers and saboteurs to usurp the anti-tax, anti-reckless spending, anti-bailout message.
It’s already happened once before — at the Denver anti-porkulus rally last month, when the Media Matters/Daily Kos crowd shifted media attention away from the policy message by manufacturing fake outrage about some stunt-puller who showed up with a sign comparing Obama to Hitler that I didn’t see and asked for a picture. The local newspaper, the Rocky Mountain News, took the bait.
The Rocky Mountain News, incidentally, no longer exists. But the Tea Party movement has flourished despite the best efforts of national media outlets to ignore it, belittle it, and debase it.
Another tack: As Beckel signaled, leftists are going to use fear-mongering to paint mainstream taxpayers who believe in the Second Amendment, the Constitution, limited government, low taxes, and fiscal responsibility as fringe wackos. They have already exploited the Binghamton and Pittsburgh shooting sprees for political gain. They have no shame. Be prepared. Confront them with their own rank hypocrisy and unhingedness. Don’t get distracted. And don’t let your local media get away with lazily recycling their smears.
Shockingly, a purportedly conservative website, Culture11, is disseminating yet another Tea Party smear — that the movement is racist:

They are ready to “take back the country.”
When, oh when are these white people going to stop waiting for somebody to give them something?
Oh well. I guess I’ll be turning on the TV in a few minutes to see yet another privileged group of white men, who insist they they and they alone are entitled to hold the opinions that count on the economy, the government, and the president.
It’s only a matter of time before this bunch starts whining about losing its lack of influence.

William and Mary Students Plan Colonial Area Tea Party
WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia—Residents and students will rally at The College of William and Mary, on April 11 at 1:00 pm, to protest ballooning government spending.
The rally is being planned as part of a nationwide movement of everyday citizens voicing their opposition to out of control spending by the federal government. The event will take place at the Crim Dell Amphitheater on campus at The College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, the colonial capital of Virginia.
“We need to send a message to our government that people are fed up with excessive spending and programs that jeopardize the American dream. We are tired of the waste.” stated sophomore Amanda Russell.
All area residents are invited to attend the Colonial Area Tea Party at William and Mary on April 11 starting at 1:00 pm. Attendees should bring own signs and posters, and are encouraged to invite their neighbors and friends. This event will be non-partisan and is open to all political persuasions. More information on speakers and itinerary will be released as confirmed.

We owe taxes. Every year. There is no way for us to feel as if we are being treated fairly–I cannot imagine how those who make more money than we do feel about it.
The only reason we do it is out of integrity. It’s the law to pay what one owes, and we are responsible people.

We crunched the numbers and between both my salary and my husband’s we pay the state of NJ, city of Hopatcong (property taxes) and Federal Government just under $70,000 per yr in taxes. That’s ludicrous!

The dirty “tricks” of the left are getting to be, not just tiresome, but actually fueling the fire of the conservative movement. I was remembering when there was a hateful shout at one of McCain’s campaign stops…making it sound like it came from a right-wing nut. It was all over the MSM because it made the conservatives look bad. I don’t remember what was said, but it was clearly done by someone trying to make trouble for the right. This is their tactic. Just wait. At some of the tea parties, someone will shout…GUNS!! Or, “Let’s kill the…” or something equally horrible just to get us in trouble. And you know that the MSM will be ready to pick up on that and make us look like a bunch of loonies. How do we fight something like that?
Last I checked, 58 million people didn’t vote for Obama, so that’s a non-starter.

This is what I’m most worried about; what will start as a political protest by conservatives will end up provoking a violent reaction from some ACORNies. Then, the press will blame it on us! This won’t stop us from protesting, however.

Taxpayer resistance (having problems of conscience with the government and how it spends our tax revenues) is understandable and people should speak out as they wish. Please use caution however, because tax evasion (willfully not paying one’s taxes) is a crime. It would taint the message of the rallies if people there advocated the crime of tax evasion.
Sometimes, I just don’t get Fox News. Just check out Beckel’s credentials. Ordinary, average, maybe. He’s a perfect left-wing model. With the donkey Congress’ midnight passage of its budget bill garnering zero support from Republicans, it’s safe to say that the Hope-a-Dope Era’s head-fake about “bipartisanship” and “post-partisanship” is officially over. From now on, the donks will simply shove their out-of-control spending up our collective butts on party-line votes.
That’s why these protests are useless beyond making the participants feel good. Telling the donks that they’re wrong, that they’re bankrupting the country, would only be effective if they were listening.
They’re not listening. They don’t want to, and they’ve got the votes so they don’t have to.
All the donks are interested in right now is to marginalize the opposition. They’ll do it by using the Voluntary State Media to erect a “Wall of Silence” about the protests — save for the occasional disdainful piece about “A few hundred cranks/militia members/gun nuts/assassination plotters and their ‘message of hate.’”

WASHINGTON — A Republican senator has delayed President Barack Obama’s nomination of Tammy Duckworth, an injured Iraq war helicopter pilot, to be an assistant secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee didn’t vote on the nomination Thursday because North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr asked that the panel hold off. Burr, the top Republican on the committee, wants Duckworth and the White House to answer some of his questions. Burr’s spokesman, David Ward, would not say on Friday what the questions concerned.
“He’s doing his due diligence … to ensure that veterans have the best representation possible,” Ward said.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Duckworth, a major in the Illinois National Guard, lost both her legs and partial use of one arm in a rocket-propelled grenade attack in 2004. She ran for Congress in 2006, but lost. She’s currently the director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.
One good thing about going to the Tea Party at the Temecula Duck Pond on April 15: People like Kris Broughton and the apologists for moochers and losers won’t be there. Too long of a bus ride.
Much of that privilege comes because they worked hard to make something of themselves instead of waiting for the government to give them something.
This guy writes this as though these ‘priveleged’ should just pay and pay and pay and shut up about it. I get nothing for the amount I pay in taxes. . . NOTHING. To claim that I protest because I’m priveleged doesn’t understand why I’m protesting. I pay too much taxes now, and it’s going to go up. If I stop earning money, then I won’t have anything to worry about.
If Americans stopped paying their taxes, maybe the government would learn who is boss in this relationship.

Beckel is the same man who was laughing and chortling that all democrats had to do to win in Ohio was call up operatives in Cuyahoga County and tell them how manay votes they needed to win and they would magically appear. Yeah, Beckel, dismiss all ya want. We know you’re doing it. You’re scared.
I attended a tea party this weekend in West Chester, PA. I even found my picture in the paper the next day next to an article that distorted the size, the message and the lame counter protest which consisted of a handful of high school students. The truth is that about 400 people showed up (4 times more than reported). Like me, most of the people I spoke with had never been to a protest before. The story portrayed the event as a shouting match between conservatives holding signs with violent messages and young Obama supporters. One sign said, “You are entering a Nobama zone. Mention his name and I’ll drop you where you stand.”
I was there for 90 minutes. While I was there, no one even attempted to engage the antiwar protest across the street. There are multiple YouTube videos of the event and I can’t find the sign that the reporter used to describe the scene. To top it off, the reporter didn’t bother to show up until after the event was over. What he reported on might have happened after the event was over, but he certainly didn’t describe the event I went to.
If you plan on going to a tea party on April 15th, PLEASE do not bring a sign with a message of violence…even if it is a joke. It will be used by liberal reporters to smear the movement.
I am always ready for the smears from my Leftist enemies. From the insults from the Hippie scum in the 60′s and 70′s to President Carter and White Trash Clinton I have been hardened. Let the insults, name calling and assults fall like rain and wear them as a Red Badge of Courage.

Geraldo Rivera last night reported on the Tea Party movement and basically said it was jut those who opposed Obamma, just a bunch of Republicans. He was a little in your face with his remarks. The left will try to dismiss us. We have to make ourselves felt, not just heard. If we don’t support local, state and national condidates who will support us we will accomplish nothing. Start with your school board, your city and couty governments. Opposes those who would have big government as usual and who will tax us till we are dead. Run for office, don’t just sit on the sidelines and watch.
I feel like this might be our last chance to turn the tide before it is too late.
We all know how the Dems, even when they were in the minority, allowed Bush’s nominations to the bench and cabinet positions to come up for votes, so it could be a bit of payback.
I will say, Duckworth entered the military during the Clinton Administration, and was a poly-sci major from Hawaii, so her liberal extremism is no surprise, but unlike most libtards, she actually answered her units activation for service in Iraq. She could have stayed home like most libtards, and maybe just faced a BCD for failure to report. Of course, as a poly-sci major, she may have been planning a career in politics before she went to Iraq, and saw how Americans looked on military traitors like

The marxist/democrat spin meisters can spin all they want. The tea partys are good things. I went to my first one in Tulsa a while back. I have never been to a protest before (except the Dem convention in chicago way back, but that was to stop the rioters), and these were real people, not controlled by dkos or acorn.
Last Sunday, I and my descendents went to the Wannamaker gunshow in Tulsa. I have never seen anything like it. These fellow citizens attended for many apparent reasons from hunting to home protection to (I assume) revolution. My daughter said to me never worry about what the pols in washington try to do. These are the people. Think on this, there were probably at least 50,000 in attendance, the place was packed. A rough estimate would be maybe 10 small and long arms for each attendee, along with stacks of boxed ammunition 6 feet high. That is more arms and ammunition in one place than 7th Army had at its maximum.
The point to these comments is the tea parties are nice, but lets start counting the uncountable that attend big gunshows like this. That is really where the power is going to be.
Beckel is one arrogant, obnoxious, buttwipe, sorry that slipped. I put him and Whorealdo in the same class, classless.
Charlotte, NC Fox News affiliate WCCB gave the Charlotte Tea Party less than thirty seconds of coverage saying, “Hundreds showed up to protest the governor’s proposed tax increases.” That was it. The next day about twenty people showed up downtown to protest the arresting illegal aliens as “racial profiling” and got ten minutes of coverage as a “nationwide Palm Sunday protest”.

Just remember, every sign at a Tea Party with Obama’s name and something negative is going to make the video clip. There is a desperation to make this partisan, which is why I wish those rallies which have politicians on the schedule to speak would rethink their invitation to them.
Obviously there is going to be some degree of anti Obama sentiments at these rallies and the last thing we need is folks inspecting the signs and therefore violating one of the very precepts contained in the Constitution, Freedom of Speech.
If the liberals want to show up with all kinds of hate filled slogans in a hope of getting on tv and thereby smearing the tea party it is a chance we have to take.
What is needed is somebody close to a microphone or the center of the activities that can from time to time remind the crowd of the purpose of rally. Runaway government spending of our tax dollars, stripping of our Constitution, and the recent awarding of powers to administration officials that are not defined anywhere in our Constitution.

ACORN could (and it wouldn’t surprise me of they did) send in old or small Black women, who could then approach groups of men and say something as obnoxious as possible, in hopes of getting some television news footage of angry white guys yelling at apparently scared and helpless minority women.

Obviously the leftist are getting nervous about this movement and 4/15 is only the beginning. It is not just “Republicans” it is totally “Americans” who are fed up and are participating in these events.
This is an opportunity to get those people who have been sitting on their sofas on election day feeling like their one vote won’t make a difference and totally disenfranchised from their party (“I didn’t leave the party R OR D, the party left me”) The Tea Parties are about to become their voice because now it is going to really hit them in their pockets with much higher taxes–wait till the govt gets to the utilities and gasoline– and they don’t like it. Nobody in their right minds would be happy about increasing taxes on future generations despite what they actually say.
The one key to all the tea parties is the next election. It is far and away the time to turnover as many of the incumbents as possible and these are the people who will do it. Those in DC have forgotten who they work for. This is where our little tea parties will be felt by them.
Anyone involved in a Tea Party set up the next one so you can announce it at the 4/15 event and make sure you get names and contact info from every person who shows up. They will be the loudest ones at the NEXT one.

I agree that we should NOT include any politicians in the tea parties! NONE! Politicians will use them to campaign. I don’t care who they are…if they are politicians, they will CAMPAIGN. We must avoid any hint of that in the tea parties. As Glenn Beck has said numerous times, these need to be non-partisan, non-political rallies about what the bozos in DC are doing to our country…both dems and republicans! My biggest fear is that these tea parties will become marginalized, or twisted in purpose. Stay focused!

Speaking as a veteran, having heard Major Duckworth’s pronouncements in the past, I do not consider her qualified for the position.
That does not reflect in any way on her integrity, her honor, or her personal sacrifice for her country.
What we have now is just as bad as taxation without representation – we have representation without taxation. That creates the ability for the non-taxpayers to continue on the public dole funding their entitlments from those who do pay taxes. In other words, this situation allows a scheme for people to vote their self interest in a matter in which they have no stake.
I wonder what the outcome would be if we applied the liberal’s beloved “disparate impact test” to out tax policy? That tests provides that if a policy or treatment, even if purportedly neutral, has a disparate impact on one particular racial, ethnic or religious group in its pratical application, the policy is a violation of discrimination laws and violates people’s civil rights.
I saw part of the Beckel screed and quickly turned it off. The man is a digusting whoring pig who wallows in the filth of his disdain for the US and the Constitution. I had just started watching Fox again, and will return to getting my news elsewnere. Fox may think having Beckel on “balances” the views, but all they are doing is allowing a platform for a propagandist to mock, deride and insult its core viewers. They don’t appear to have enough sense to realize that insulting their viewers is not a recipe for keeping those viewers tuning in.
The poor will pay taxes too under the Obama plan, even those getting checks from the government. The electric, coal, and oil and gas companies aren’t going to just eat a two trillion dollar or more carbon tax aka “cap and trade”.
Obama is just counting on a bunch of them to be too stupid to blame him, rather than Exxon and the local Edison that sends the electric bill, when prices double or more.

I just learned that there will be a TEA party in my home town of Madera (the Mad of Madshark) on April 15th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in Town and Country Park.
I don’t go to the movies all that often, but one of my favorite movie scenes of all time was in the movie “The Grapes of Wrath”, where the locals were planning on starting a fight at the Okies’ celebration, but the Okies were aware of it, and when the plant started the trouble, he was overpowered immediately and removed from the crowd without much notice. Law enforcement officials arrived afterwards in response to a “report” that there was a big fight in progress, and then the leader (Henry Fonda, if I recall correctly) pointed to the crowd which was dancing and replied “I don’t see any trouble here”, and one of the officers looked increduously at his watch. Hopefully if there are any troublemakers at any of the TEA rallies, they will be dispatched as easily as in the movie.
In looking at this I noted that Newt Gingrich in getting involved. Yet he is part of the problem. He has been advocating nationalized health. The problem we have is that most Republicans have become involved in the same ideology as the Dems, only with slightly varied language and more emphasis on religion.
Many of you are also arguing about how much tax you pay. If you pay tax in the US you are paying too much. Our government is not worth a plug nickel.
A meaningful goal to try for would be a constitutional amendment limiting the amount of taxation. For instance say that adding up all of your taxes, you would not pay more that 20% of your income. Then we would not have the issue of class warfare and people would know they would not have the government possibly taking everything as they tried with AIG. So, lets not complain, lets do something positive.
