Mohammed Cartoons redux: Make no apology for defending Western values; Update: Obama bows again

There is a reason we call Muslim mau-mau-ers the Religion of Perpetual Outrage. They will never give up until you give in. Three years after the Mohammed Cartoon conflagration, the grievance-mongers are still trying to extract contrition out of the Danes and others who stood up for the West and for free speech.
Unfortunately, the ROPO bullies squeezed conciliatory remarks from Former Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. He didn’t say the exact words “I’m sorry,” but he might as well have tattooed it on his forehead:

Former Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Monday he would pay close attention to religious sensibilities in his new role as NATO chief in comments aimed at allaying Muslim concerns at his appointment.
Turkey had threatened to veto Rasmussen’s appointment over his handling of a 2006 crisis triggered by cartoons of Islam’s Prophet Mohammad in a Danish newspaper. His comments fell short of the outright apology which Turkish officials had hoped for.
“I respect Islam as one of the world’s major religions as well as its religious symbols,” Rasmussen said during a panel discussion at an Istanbul conference aimed at building bridges between the Muslim world and the West…

How about telling the thugs to start paying attention to the sensibilities of civilized people who don’t wage riots, murder people, and issue death threats over cartoons?
How about a reminder of the cultural insensitivities of the Mo mob to tolerance and free speech?

More than 800 were injured in the ensuing riots and 130 people paid with their lives. The innocents included Italian Catholic priest Andrea Santoro, who was shot to death in Turkey on Feb. 5 by a teenage boy enraged by the illustrations. The Muslim gunman shouted “Allahu Akbar!” as he murdered Father Santoro while the priest knelt praying in his church. Several brave moderate Muslim editors who stood up to the madness were jailed, fined, and convicted of crimes related to insulting Islam.

You will not hear a staunch, clear defense of Western values from the President of the United States on this fundamental issue of liberty vs. tyranny, to borrow Mark Levin’s phrase. Obama’s Bow –like Bush’s hand-holding and sword-dancing with the Wahabbis — is just the tip of the submission iceberg.

But since you won’t be satisfied until you get an answer:
Hitler’s policies, beliefs and politics were evil. Even at the end of his life, however, we don’t know if he did what was necessary to make a good confession, penance, and reconciliation with God. There is no limit on God’s mercy, and I wasn’t there, so no one who believes in the Scripture “judge not lest ye be judged” can say for certain where Hitler ended up.
You, on the other hand, made an assertion not about ZA’s behavior, but on his nature and, therefore, the state of his soul and his being. His PERSON, in other words. And that’s where you crossed a line.
I think lots of behavior is “evil” and done by people with whom I disgree on a great deal of things. But I also know that I’m neither judge nor jury when it comes to the state of the soul.
I have an idea for the Muslim world. It worked well here in the US for over 200 years now. Its not perfect but its a good start.
Its called freedom of religion. People are free to believe in whatever they want to believe in. There is no “punishment” for believing or not believing.
I wonder how fast Islam would be abandoned if they were allowed to choose another religion in those countries. Peer pressure is one thing but threat of second class citizenship or death can really be a deciding factor in ones choices.

Um, not it’s not. Even Penn Jillette – hardly a religious nut – says those who believe have an obligation to warn others. But saying, “That might not be the best spiritual decision you could make” is different from saying “See you in Hell!” The former is an offer of guidance than may or may not be accepted; the latter is not helpful to either party.
It’s clear that if ZA thinks you did that (I quoted him there), then you’re the one who owes him an apology because even if it wasn’t your intention, some of your posts obviously made ZA feel as if you were condemning him to Hell. Now I’m trying to reconcile how/why you’re uspet with ZA’s claim that you’ve condemned him to Hell, when you turn around and write something like “to people like zero, THAT IS CONDEMNING HIM TO HELL”
By all means, if that’s never what you meant, tell him so and I’ll gladly apologize, too. I have no problem with that. Otherwise, I am not going through hundreds of thousands of posts looking for comments.
I do read the Bible. And I know how my faith is rooted in Scripture and will gladly explain it to you in another place and time.
But I stand by my previous post. As Christians, we have to draw a distinction between sinful behavior and judgment of people. Especially eternal judgment.
At the risk of opening another can of worms here, this is something I learned when debated about the issue of gay marriage. So many times we’re told we “hate” gay people when it’s the behavior we object to and when the Catholic Church’s teaching is clear and holds straight and gay to the same standards of chastity.
This isn’t “holier than thou” (ironic, coming from you who call Darwin a “hairygod” and clearly knock ZA’s beliefs) rhetoric, it’s me trying to draw the necessary distinction between sinful behavior and people. We are to despise the former, but always love the latter (and I won’t pretend that’s always easy).
And this is exactly the sort of crap I’m talking about. You flip your lid when I defend him, call me stupid and other names, then turn around an deried his “anger and hatred”? Did you really type that with a straight face? Because the one that would look and sound angry to an outside observer here is you, and not me or ZA.

I’m Catholic, so sola fidelis doesn’t cut it.
God gave us the free will to enter a relationship with Him and forgave our sins through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection. We wouldn’t have a hope of salvation without it, and that much I’ll give you.
However, because our relationship with God is just that – a relationship (Father/child) – we have our end of the bargain to uphold. Being faithful is only a part of that. Our works, our ability to ask for forgiveness, our partaking in the sacraments, and our willingness to use our free will to follow God’s will are all part of that relationship.
If we choose not to uphold our end of the relationship, or choose not seek forgiveness and reconciliation or a relationship with God on any level, at the end of our lives God is not going to suddenly take back the gift of free will and take us to Heaven with him. He will respect that we’ve chosen we didn’t want a relationship with Him and not welcome us into paradise, because it’d be kind of silly for Him to give us free will only to say it really didn’t matter in the end, right?
Now, that’s what I believe. ZA and others are free to take it or leave it.
