Actively, consistently, continuously enforcing existing laws will send the message that we are serious about our laws. Changing them to accomodate people breaking them sends the opposite message. And not just to those already here. Millions are waiting to see which tack we take. Amnesty will set off a stampede like we have not seen before. Enforcement will start the flow in the other direction as the jobs and benefits dry up. Those pushing for amnesty are for surrendering to the demands of the illegal aliens and their employers, abandoning the rule of law and surrendering our sovereignty. We should not change the laws to suit those breaking them.

The primary responsibility of the U.S. government is to protect the territorial integrity and people of this country. They have completely abdicated this responsibility. Both parties have been complicit in this. We are being told it is not possible to control our borders, enforce our laws, and thereby control our destiny as a nation. Hogwash. We are being sold out by corporations intent on importing workers for jobs that can't be exported with the taxpayers paying the true costs, financial and human. If we act like sheep and don't stop the inundation across our borders, we will lose our country without a bleat.

Instead of a "DREAM" act, there should be a program which would get these kids to repatriate to attend school in their native country (mainly Mexico and Brazil) after which they can apply for a resident visa to come back to the USA.

This situation really sucks; it's hard for fair-minded people to penalize kids because their parents brought them here illegally to the USA; however allowing illegals to attend college at a cut-rate in the USA simply sends the wrong message to other would-be border jumpers with kids.

Just a thought:

People are always complaining how Californians move to their states and bring their liberal attitudes with them. Actually, California has been and always will be a magnet for deadbeats and moochers because of its generous welfare policies (guess where the majoriy of illegals go). Maybe California conservatives are fleeing the states high taxes' and liberalism and bringing their conservative attitudes with them, tipping the balance of power to conservatives in other states.

Just...a...thought.

Rabid - its worse down south - we have Black Hills Energy (formerly Aquilla) and our gas bill has more than doubled since last year. I tried to protest but the rate increase was OK'd by the PUC. When I called Black Hills they said the rate increase is due to an increase from their gas suppliers, they are just passing it along.

CapNTrade will then make it impossible for many homeowners to heat their homes.

Just moved out of Boulder County. At least my votes in the next election will count this time.

Last night, I looked at the itemization on my Electricity/Gas bill for the first time in YEARS.

My total bill to heat a 3 story house was just over $100 last month and that was running everything full blast. What gets me is that my actual electricity was $21 and the gas was $25.

Everything else was fees/taxes/adj/Costs. Cant wait for all these new green fees and 'cap and trade' increases to kick in.

It was much more than a lack of money, richardbo and toy surg. As a resident of Colorado with a senior in high school, I can tell you that in-state tuition is a very big deal. If an illegal gets it and a Vet doesn't, there will be the biggest lawsuit the State has ever seen. The dems wimped out - richardbo and toysurg - because they saw the light of the really big train comin' right at them.

I guess this is the silver lining around the black cloud that hovers over our economy. It gives politicians reasons to vote against pro-illegal measures.

Newell, who was elected in November by a razor-thin margin, simply said “I listened to my constituents” when asked about her vote.

This is a first!

One of the BIGGER reasons I left the state was it's PRO ILLEGAL stance in just about everything.

Illegal alien driving without a licence, insurance or registration. You get to always be first handled in court, no matter how late you show up. Pay 1/5th of the official fine, promise to get all that fixed and we will refund you all but $10 of your paid fines when you return to show you fixed it.
An American citizen, busted for not having your valid driver's license on your person at the time you got pulled over for doing nothing wrong. Wait for all the illegals to get heard first, see how lenient the judge is, no matter how beligerant the defendant or blatantly dangerous their offense was. Get in front of the judge, prove that you did in fact have a legal license, but had to wait for it in the mail from the government, which sent it 60 days late and then get fined every single possible penny the law allows the state to impose upon you.

I am 40 years old, was 36 when i moved to Utah, in one year living in Utah, I witnessed more accidents than I have in my entire life up to that point and after that point. here in Texas 1 year = 1 accident. California for 6 years, 5 accidents. Iowa, Ohio, Florida, Texas 30 years combined, about 40 accidents. Living in Ogden Utah for 1 year, I witnessed a minimum of 1 accident a week and some weeks and even some days 5 accidents. Total accidents witnessed, 132 in Utah alone.

It's a difficult tug of war for Congressmen. They can feel the flame at their backs from their constituents but still have to deal with the corrupt leadership that is owned by K Street. It is much wiser to opt on the side of constituents. Maybe the GOP will develop a new found respect for that as they muddle around trying to rekindle their mojo. Don't hold your breath. The LA Clippers never change either.

I need to start keeping better track of what's going on in the State. I've sent dozens of emails to my reps in DC, but State issues are just as important, if not more so.

Thanks, Michelle!
