It depends on what your definition of ‘bow’ is…
The Obama administration is still denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, but Fox News has the best “dancing around the word ‘bow’” analysis so far:
A video of the greeting shows Obama significantly stooping before the 84-year-old monarch.
If you’re in your 40’s and appear to be “significantly stooping” before an 84-year-old, you’re either bowing or applying for the last remaining position in a year-long pillow-fight at the Playboy Mansion.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that the president didn’t bow, won’t do it again, and that the economy is so lousy, who cares either way? Hard to argue with him there. Gibbs then pointed to the sky and said, “Look, a falling star!” and ran from the room.
I’d suggest that the White House call it “Royalty-onset osteoporosis” from now on, just to avoid any confusion. “Had to tie my shoe” also works in a pinch, as would branding Obama-style genuflection as “The Hunch of Hope,” possibly kicking off a new dance craze.
Incidentally, Oliver North agrees with the White House position. North insists that Obama didn’t bow — he curtsied.

“King Abdullah dropped a contact lens” said WH Press Secretary Gibbs.
When asked why King Abdullah would wear both glasses and contact lenses, Secy. Gibbs scoffed and said “we have…um…er…no…comment on…the pirate situation…um…er…huh?”
He either bowed, (which I say yes he did) or he was trying to look up the Kings dress.
Odopey’s so goofy he doesn’t know what the heck he’s doing W/O TOTUS.

I’m over in Riyadh working as a contractor…Obambi bowed to the “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques” (the official title of the King). He was paying his respects to the king as either a fellow member of the Islamic faith or paying homage as an “infidel”.

These denials coming from spokesmen for D’Ohbama remind me of Martin Short’s “shyster lawyer” character on SNL, Nathan Thurm.
Picture if you will, that character when hearing disclaimers like, “He didn’t bow! That wasn’t a bow! I saw what you saw, and it wasn’t a bow. How can you say that was a bow?”

It looks like Obama bowed to a Islamic king of a Islamic monarchy.
And to think the Queen of Great Britain received less respect than the King of Saudi Arabia.
To the best of my knowledge, President Obama is the first American President to ever bow to a leader of a monarchy. In fact he is the first American that I know of who bowed to a king of a foreign country.
Americans are exempt from bowing to kings or any leader of a foreign country.
The United States is a Republic and not a monarchy. For over 230 years, Americans have refused to bow to the leaders of any monarchy.
I’m starting to see that Obama may have a conflict of interest with Islam since Obama does have a Muslim background. If true, how can Obama protect America from another attack by Islamic fascist ?
Watching closely how the Obama administration is handling the Islamic pirates situation in the Horn of Africa. Maybe Hillary will blame America just like she blames the Mexican drug war on America and the Second Amendment.

For an American to bow to a monarchy is showing submissive obedience to that monarchy.

Good question. Since Obama is technically a muslim, I suspect he will continue to slip into old habits no matter how many times he is reminded he is a “Christian”. You know what they say…”Raise a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. Obama can’t help himself. We will see more and more evidence of his true nature as time goes on.

They have no idea what the truth is, or how to ever speak the truth. The excuse they gave was that he had used BOTH hands, thus forcing Der Fuhrer to bend down to match the height of King Abdullah.
Forget that it took them almost a week to come up with this LIE, but you would think that they would have at least watched the video before coming up with this lie to attempt to cover up Der Fuhreer paying homage to his Islamic master.
If you watch the video, you will see that Der Fuhrer indeed did use both hands…for a brief second…AFTER he bowed so low that he nearly head-butted the king in the groin and it took a good three seconds after for him to use the second hand.
These people are just amazing. They have yet to tell the truth about a damn thing. They refuse to tell the truth about his citizenship, about what was in the “stimulus package”, about his relationship with terrorists, racists, bigots, drug dealers and other assorted scumbags.

I’ve seen alot of explanations if this wasn’t a bow and here’s mine:
He was showing the king his “Temptations” dance moves.

I wonder if he greeted him in the traditional Arabic way? I know he knows how to say “A salaam alaikum,” and the response, “Alaikum a salaam.” I do, and I’m not Arabic nor Muslim.
Gibbs said that Obama gave the king a double handshake, putting one hand over the other,and that was why he was sort of bending . If you look at the film clip, you can clearly see him grip the king’s hand, then bow, and as he came up, his left hand comes up from his side, and THEN is when he gave the “double” handshake.

The main mistake Obama made was not turning around first.
Obama wasn’t bowing, he was trying to frantically replug in the cord to the teleprompter after King Abdullah accidentally unplugged it.

What Americans have to understand is it does not matter if Obama actually bowed or not. WHat DOES MATTER is that the entire Muslim world saw it and is convinced he did.

Bowing to the King of the Kingdom of Saud?

Had he bowed to our allies, it would not have seemed so nearly objective to be bowing to one of our supposed allies. (A friend in need is the term that first comes to my mind … as in they are our allies as long as it serves their purposes) However, selectively bowing to one monarchy and not to the other indicates more than a simple lack of culture or respect for their position. I would have no problem with him bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia had he shown as much respect (not fealty) to the Monarchy in England.
As has been mentioned here before though, to bow to a Muslim King while “pawing” at the Queen of England in defiance of diplomatic protocol, good taste, respect or even common sense, it does tend to give thinking individuals pause to consider the ramifications and the implications that are there. For the WH to so quickly deny this with outright lies while the video is readily available and his actions are clear for the world to see only gives the thinking individual more room to wonder what the true story is. Had it been a simple mistake, I am certain they would have said so and moved on.
I actually heard people on the radio claiming that the WH only had to lie about it because of the “unhinged” reactions from right-wingers who questioned his lack of judgment in doing this. Unfortunately, it will probably only serve as a further distraction from the more important issues while he continues his ambitious quest for a socialist amerikan utopia.
Heaven help us all, it is not dear leader that we have to be worried about so much as it is the massive number of Americans who firmly believe that we would all be better off if we were Comrade-Americans rather than Americans first.

What frustrates me is the obvious difference between Dubya holding hands with the Saudi ruler, which in the Arab world is a sign of two men who consider themselves EQUALS, and the subserviant sign of bowing by BO!

Where did personal honor go? Where is the shame that ordinary (and decent) people would display if they ever got caught in a lie? What happened to the watchdogs (MSM) that would report what was actually said and done in lieu of the propaganda we see today?
Of course, all these questions are rhetorical, but they do illustrate how much we have changed. The main problem is us. There have always been knaves, scoundrels, thieves and liars. We are far more “understanding” and “tolerant” and except their excuses for behavior for political and social expediency.
This transcends political borders. When we do get outraged, the result may be a quick blast of fury, but no organized, sustainable groundswell that would force the changes needed. Hopefully, the tea parties will start the proper counterrevolution necessary to take back common sense and control of our own destiny.
If not, then I guess we will see each other next year…at the required weekly party meeting at a collective farm/factory near you.
