Tax Freedom Day

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 13, 2009 11:06 AM

It has finally arrived.

Sen. John Ensign asks a good question on Twitter this morning: “When will it come after Democrats pass their national energy sales tax?”

You can print out Tax Freedom Day info cards here.

Last I heard tax freedom was sometime in early June after all taxes and gov. fees were paid. I am guessing it will be sometime in September in about 3 years.

Seeing that “map” upon which Kalifornia is one of the bluest states gives ME “the blues.”

This state is a hopeless mess of far Left lunacy and PC “BS,” combined with an unending illegal invasion…IOW, a shining example of what NOT to do.

Talk about “THERE’S GOTTA BE A PONY IN THERE SOMEWHERE” reporting… Read a story in MSM, this date is several weeks earlier than last year… Well, I can remember when TAX DAY, and this one included ALL LOCAL TAXES, was the first week in March… Oh, and how about having your SOCIAL SECURITY paid in full for the year in late JULY??? I was not RICH either, just “UPPER MIDDLE CLASS”… Remember that TERM???

We need for there to be NO taxes withheld from any paycheck.

Then make everyone pay ALL their taxes (income, FICA, whatever…) at one time.

When people FINALLY realize what they have to pay, then the revolution would come!

Too many who get a “refund” don’t realize they are providing the government an interest-free loan. Or else they consider it to be “free money” instead of something that was theirs from the get-go.

I plan it so I usually owe just a little more on April 15th and, like the AZNeanderthal, pay that amount at the last possible moment.

Tax freedom day? You must not have to pay Personal Tangible Property Tax. Buy a computer with after tax dollars, pay sales tax on it and if you use it in business, you pay the PTPT as well. Soon you will have to add a carbon footprint tax to that (and gawd knows what else this current administration will come up with…)

/flips Obama a dime for the roll your eyes tax

I am still working out the final details on my 1040 but I paid about 19.6K in Federal and state income tax, FICA and Medicare taxes last year. Of course, they took a couple hundred from my wife from her part-time job and they took an extra $500 or so for my self-employed income.

    And Obambi wants MORE…

Federal, state, and local income taxes.
Property taxes from the school district, county, and township.
    Per-capita tax for the county.
Municipal services tax for the city where I work.
Untold $$$ of taxes on the phone bills and energy bills.
    Unemployment tax.
Social “Security” (har de har!) tax.
Excise taxes on purchase of tires.
Gasoline taxes (how regressive can you get??!!).
    Medicare tax.

Have I left any out, fellow Keystoners?

Tax Freedom Day? Nice thought. But, between all the “fees” and other “taxes”, one has to pay, the only “Tax Freedom Day” for me, will be the day after I die…if then.

The East Coast can wallow in taxes for all I care. I really don’t understand why people put up with it. There are a lot of hypocrites on the left who refuse to acknowledge that their public schools are failing yet they continue to raise property taxes that citizens just can’t afford.

I find it humorous that we need days like Tax Freedom Day to point out how MANY days an American has to work just to pay their freakin’ tax bill!!! After all the obnoxious taxes I’ve put up with as a former New York state resident, only to seem them replicated in VA, all I can say is that this runaway tax train will eventually go off the cliff. NJ is broke, NY is broke, and VA is heading that way. They’re all paying for public services to support those that don’t work. There’s no sense to the system.

I’m done with it all. I have no plans on retiring on the East Coast or raising a family there. I have absolutely hated Hampton Roads, VA, the traffic, the overpopulation, the crime, and the taxes for 3 years (and this as a military spouse) and that should say something about the fraud that VA has become as a “commonwealth.”

Keep the change, East Coast. You’re not getting one more dime outta me.
