Tracking the Tea Party crashers
Keep an eye out for the Tea Party crashers tomorrow. If you have other example to add to the list, give me a holler:
1) From Code Pink Website:
Santa Monica Tea Party Wednesday, April 15th 2009 4:00–5:00 PM Santa Monica, CA
The Santa Monica Tea Party of 2009 and Tea Parties all across America are being organized by friends of Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly, all about getting less funding for government. Let’s show up with a better message: STOP funding wars and Wall Street, and start funding the needs of the people– health care, education, and a green economy. Join us as we crash their party.
Location: Santa Monica Pier 100 Colorado Ave. Santa Monica, CA 90401
2) From DKos:
Tomorrow, my husband and I will be venturing into the wilds disguised as a news crew to do some in person interviewers with teabaggers here in Rhode Island (if we can find any). We’ve got some questions lined up to ask, but I’d love to get suggestions!
The great thing about owning professional video equipment is that armed with it, you can pass yourself off as being a professional news crew pretty easily.
So tomorrow, “WSFR” is going to send a cameraman and on air news personality out into the field to cover this “teabagging” phenomenon.
We’re going to ask open ended questions that seem to have a slight conservative bent to (hopefully) get them to open up and just start ranting. Then, we take any examples of racism, hatred, ignorance, and stupidity that we catch on camera and make a little movie out of it. Probably a YouTube special.
Here’s the list we have so far
* What are you celebrating (The Boston Tea Party), and can you explain its historical relevance? [We're hoping to get some hilarious flubs from this one]
* Is this your first time teabagging? [OK, so, a juvenile one, but worth it]
* Do you approve of Michael Steele’s plan to expand the GOP through a “hip-hop urban-suburban marketing strategy”? [hoping to get some juicy racist stuff from this question]
* (as an intentional misunderstanding/follow up, presuming that someone complains about wasteful government spending) “So you disapprove of your tax dollars going to the Iraq War?” [should elicit some confusion]
Anyways, it’s a start… but I’d love to have some suggestions for questions that sound fine, but should prompt an outpouring of crazy.
Thanks in advance, and I’ll be sure to post a link to the finished video when it’s available!

Which reminds me…
It may have been more advantageous to hold tea parties early in the morning, maily because the left is still in the sack. But I know this is unrealistic, because conservatives have jobs and we can only party after work.
I think it is stupid to go to these things to try to bait or goad or capture some “gotcha” moment from protesters.
But I am curious about this whole insistence on seeing actual press credentials from a group that so thoroughly rejects the MSM.
Do you think MM has a press credential she could show someone if asked? Actually maybe she does since she works with FOX as well, I have no idea. But I would suspect many legitimate bloggers, left or right do not.
Thanks, David…I hope to be able to meet you at the next one!! Be safe and give a big holler from Happy! If you get a chance, wave to a camera. I will be following closely on FOX News.
Let’s be honest, there are a lot of immature members of the lefties. Just look at the whole “teabag” thing. The sad part is that those of you that are mature let them get away with it because you agree with their ideology. It’s kind of like the whole “moderate muslim” thing.
Press credentials are relatively easy to get. Around here, you go to the Sheriff’s office, fill out the form, get your picture taken, and pay a fee, and voila! You’ve got a press pass.
I am curious as to what you mean “get away with.” Not sure what I or most anyone is supposed to do to stop them, excpet basically ignore them. However, lets not pretend that this sort of thing doesn’t happen on the right as well.
How many viral videos did you see of the so called “typical” Obama supporter during the primaries and election?
Here’s one such example, though the supporter here, handles himself admirably.
Okay. Fair enough.
So, that means you go to the left-leaning blogs & websites and post there too? Except when you’re ignoring them?
You are right, Chap. This happens on the left and on the right! But ignoring them is not the answer. I think that it is important to “call the idiots out” no matter what side they are on. If they use dirty, underhanded tactics, if they lie, cheat, steal, etc., we do need to let them have it!! I don’t accept that kind of crap from anyone…left or right. We need to get back to our basic moral values or this country doesn’t have a chance! I think that is something that ALL citizens can agree on.
You very rarely, if ever, hear people on the left say anything disparaging about the crazies on the left. There were morons living in trees in Berkeley and the left was silent. Sitting in front of trucks in Seattle with children in strollers to protest the war. Not a peep.
I don’t have a problem with them trying to catch someone saying something stupid. That goes both ways. Look at Jason Mattera getting people to sign a petition to get Netflix for Gitmo detainees. But trying to bait people into saying something that can be construed as racist is another thing entirely. Nobody has ever rioted over perceived Netflix subscriptions.
So, our illustrious POTUS is going to give another televised speech today. Enough already! I can’t believe this guy! I’m sure he is going to try and counteract the tea parties by “calming their fears”. What a croc. He can spew his lies about tax cuts for 95% of the people. But he can’t deny the spending he has been doing and the fact that he is putting an incredible burden on our children and our grandchildren. There is no high-sounding rhetoric from that man that could possibly persuade those of us in the Right Wing Extremist Club he is doing anything good for this country!
This is why I’ve been saying not to speak with or give any information to strangers, even those who seem to be media. There are supposed to be “captains” at each location, so those folks can handle any legit press inquiries. I am not giving anything to ACORN drones that they can pass on to DHS or the feds with some bogus accusation that I threatened somebody. Remember the Obama volunteer who sicced the FBI on a woman for a fake death threat? Rank and serial number, if that at all.
For terms like “teabagging”, the online Urban Dictionary is indispensable.
Ijust posted this on another thread, but it seems more appropriate here…
Obama came on TV at 11:00 right on cue, just as Rush Limbaugh’s show started. Obama does that all the time. It can’t be an accident! Rush mentioned that he needs the e-mail address of the White House so he can send them a reminder when he is set to start his program so they can be sure and get Obama out to the podium in time! Ha! One sound bite from Obama’s speech this a.m. stood out to me…”We need taxes and our government to create jobs.” Whaaaat??? The government and our taxes create jobs now? I thought capitalism and the entrepreneurial spirit created the jobs. At least they used to.
Rather than taking a chance on your comments being taken out of context, etc…if someone asks you what the rally is all about, just say, “We have leaders and organizers of this rally who would be happy to answer your questions.” Then point them out. That way, the message to all questioners will be unified.
