Where will you be for Tax Day Tea Party?

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 14, 2009 12:36 PM

I’ll be in Sacramento CA to cover the Tax Day Tea Party. FNC and FBN’s Neil Cavuto show will be broadcasting live. Lloyd Marcus will be there to sing the Tax Day Tea Party anthem. And thousands of fed-up taxpayers are expected to converge to take on the big government spenders in both parties. GOP Gov. Schwarzenegger (The Taxinator) is pushing several special ballot measures including Prop1A, which would enact $16 billion worth of “temporary” tax increases under the guise of creating a fiscally responsible rainy day fund. Taxpayers aren’t buying it.

Where will you be practicing your “rightwing extremism” tomorrow? Get your tea on!

(Which reminds me: Don’t forget the Portsmouth Tea company, which has come out publicly in support of the Tea Party movement. Their tea is amazing — and their support for free markets and free minds makes it taste all the sweeter.)

More guest blog posts coming today and tomorrow from Tea Party organizers. Stay tuned.

“GIVE A COLLECTIVE DEEP SIGH AFTER READING

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who
has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was,
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He
will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the
worm; Life isn’t always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend
more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children,
    are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy
charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended
from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the
job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly
    children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could
not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an
    abortion.

    Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses;
and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by
his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

    He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
    I Know My Rights
    I Want It Now
    Someone Else Is To Blame
    I’m A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do
    nothing.”

The above was sent to me in an e-mail. Apparently it was printed in the London Times – it’s somewhat surprising to see a mainstream newspaper print something so perceptive!

Good luck with your Tea Parties – I look forward to viewing some photographs and reading all about them.

    Could I echo Rightside’s (#60) plea?

I was planning to go the the Tea Party in Chico, California…that is until I found out there was a “charge” for admission. I became flush with anger when I read that!

As a matter of principle, I will not be in attendance.

For some reason, the organizers decided to turn this protest event in to a fundraiser to restock a local food bank that “services” the poor.

Apparently, I was under a false assumption that the Tea Party idea was to protest our government’s malfeasance. I didn’t realize there were those who regarded this as an opportunity to collect contributions for a pet organization they felt was more important than the message of the assembled masses..enough is enough!

The Sacramento TEA party is on the West steps of the Capital. For anyone who might have trouble discerning either West from East or who may not see the enormous crowd, that would be the main steps at the front of the Capital.

It will be interesting to see if Arnie is going to come out and speak to the crowd. Mainly because he had his hands fully extended to grab as much Federal Stimulus money as he could, along with Mayor Johnson who made sure that the law suits that were pending against him and his charter school were tossed out in order for him to be elegible to receive millions and millions of dollars from the Stimulus.

Granted Johnson is anything but a Republican OR a Conservative, the same canot be said for Arnie. If anyone were to look back on the reasons that we threw Davis out and elected Arnie, they would have as good if not better shot at recalling the RINO like we did his predecessor.

Especially with the deficits we have along with him basically switching parties in all but name and breaking so many of his promises. So yeah…I would love to see if he has the audacity to come off his smoking balcony to address the crowd. I would not put it past him in the least.
