James Wolcott: Beclowned
Watch this. Liberal toady James Wolcott argues that since he didn’t see big Tea Party crowds on his favorite left-wing tv stations and didn’t read front-page stories about the protests in his favorite left-wing newspapers, they weren’t newsworthy and no one really turned out except at the ones Fox News covered. C-SPAN host Susan Swain then displays front page after front page of local news coverage showing thousands of Tea Party participants:
“Does that change your view?”
Wolcott: Er, no.
A classic beclowning:
By the way, the unofficial estimate of yesterday’s nationwide turnout has now surpassed 240,000.
And here’s another estimate based on newspaper accounts: At least 250,000.
I’m continuing to update the mother of all Tea Party photo collections here.
Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.

Across the street from the TEA Party was a counter-protest of about six people.
One of these was apparently this University student, who, when asked about the much large (600+) group of protestors across the street, stated,
That’s why the Left is nervous. Whenever the “bourgoisie” begin to revolt, it never ends out well for them.
On April 16th, 2009 at 12:36 pm, CO2 Producer said:
“Anyone considering a Day Without a Ticked Off Taxpayer? Probably not, since we’ve got bills to pay with our own money.”
Hogwash
psoter #33 “I know, try to find a time that Conservatives have the day off and Congress is in session.
Tough to do since, unlike the Acorn crowd, we have jobs to consider. Not much chance of us rounding up a bunch of conservatives willing to spend the day holding a sign for $10.”
Bulls$%^t Baloney,
My bet is that everone here can AT LEAST take a vacation day. Otherwise, if this movement is not worth a days’ pay then you should be posting on the Daily Kos or Huffpo.
As the all-mighty O has spoken “suck it up”, so shall it be so.
LOL..what a freak. I guess since the NY Times didnt report it, it didnt happen. Tool.
cicero,
I took 2 hours of vacation time to attend our rally. Even if I’d had to do it unpaid, it would have been worth it.
Yikes, he looks very unhealthy. Dissipated.
A fitting metaphor for our governments.
Bloated…
Willfully blind…
Only able to hear what they wish to hear…
And largely disreputable.
This is one of the main issues behind the numbers in attendance.
When the Libs hold their tantrums, they are generally attended by students and old hippies. There are not a lot of people who take the day off from work in order to throw rocks at the police.
However, the COnservatives generally do not protest things, and when they do the rallies are generally held during a weekday when legislatures and such are in session to gain the best political voice which just happens to be when people are also at work. This happened yesterday, which just happened to be a worlk day. A good many of the people I talked to were retired, or had the day off, or wandered over during their lunch break.
There just aren’t a good many Conservative students, and those that are have not gained enough wealth to worry about what is happening in taxes and such.
Yet I would bevture to say that we can use what these Liberals, especially bloated former hippies like this d-bag, and fire people up. Use the fact that he and others are downplaying these rallies, stating they are hardly the basis of a movement. Have something like this on a day when people can afford to be there…a holiday, a weekend. Even though the legislatures won’t be in session, they will still hear through the strength of the numbers in attendance. Get the word out about how peaceful, organized and good natured these were. Let other ocnservatives and others who are tired of what is happening to their country know that there is nothing to fear by showing up.
And as for the CNN and others who claim yesterday was all just a Fox News stunt, the people I was talking to had no idea that cavuto or Malkin or anyone else was even there, let alone that it had been reported on Fox. They are merely demonstrating their further bias against something they know nothing about, doing everything their overlords tell them to diminish the importance of what is now happening.
What’s a Vanity Fair and why should we give it any credibility?
I’ve never read this POS magazine nor has anyone I know. So using Wolcott’s logic, his employer doesn’t exist.
#102 Cicero: I wasn’t saying that we can’t take a day off. My point was that it’s more difficult to get as many people to take the vacation day than it is to get a bunch of unemployed hippie and homeless community activists.
It can (and will) get done. Just take a lot more effort on our part.
That’s the bottom line.
Host: “Cosmo, does this video change your opinion that James Wolcott is a massive tool?”
Cosmo: “Uh, no.”
On comparing tea parties to immigration rallies: I haven’t heard of anyone being bussed in to a tea party, nor given time off work to attend (except maybe for some self-employed types, who aren’t really getting it off as in “with pay”), so it isn’t really a fair comparison.
On his closing point of “…how we’re going to bail…er…dig our way out of this hole.”: First rule of holes – when you find yourself in one, stop digging.
I went to the Atlanta Tea Party, and what I think this guys is missing is that almost everyone in attendance was polite, courteous, said “Excuse me” when they bumped into each other in the crowd, and were basically nice people. Sure, there were a few nuts, but who knows why they were there. Quiet, controlled and directed anger is what I saw. The people were not out there yelling at everyone, threatening anyone, just expressing our dislike for, concern over, and HOPE to CHANGE the big Tax & Spend policies of this government. Many were unhappy with Bush over it, and there were several Democrats and minorities of all stripe. The common thread was cutting taxes, not the extremist views being attributed to us.
Or to paraphrase Anderson… plug it with a teabag
This clown misses the point and will scratch his ass and head in 2010 when his “people” will understand what true dissent is all about. He looks down on us as being unworthy and if we don’t trash buildings, scream obscenities, engage in confrontation with police, or use the standard tactics of the left, then we aren’t committed. Guess what sir? We are civilized people and the 250,000 who did show up represents the 25,000,000 who didn’t.
We are the adults in the room, not the juveniles who are running the country and it is time for us to send them to the woodshed.
Its not just a state, in DC, either.
To YTZGal: Thank you for clarifying. I agree with you in that I want the current incarnation of the blatantly biased mainstream media-in-denial to wither and fade into total irrelevancy in the general public’s eyes (it’s already like that to many of us). I was hoping you didn’t mean, “Those people doing the news need to die.” It’s important now more than ever to choose our words wisely so we don’t sound as blinded by hatred or as shrouded in ignorance as the ones with whom we disagree. The use of brawn is a chaotic mess without the brain. Before I sound too much like a pale imitation of Sigmund Freud or Obi-wan Kenobi (too late) and since you’ve clarified what you said, consider the matter dropped. But don’t do it again!1!!
To cicerokid: The problem I have with my own idea is that if a large-scale abandonment of workers took place (and I mean big-big, not like the mostly ineffectual “Day Without an Illegal” event from a while back), participants would be putting their jobs at risk. Employers have little tolerance for employees who take off en masse in such a way, and rightly so because it affects their bottom lines. The other fault I see with the idea is that the government would still get their tax money from your paid day off. The momentary standstill of production and services would negatively affect businesses, the economy, and ultimately consumers, which is exactly what we don’t want.
The best/worst/riskiest way to make an effective statement would be for people to just play hooky and not go shopping that day. No arranging for vacation or personal days, no calling in sick, and no spending money of any sort. The government would not get any tax money that day if people took a day off in that manner. But when people try to go in to work the next day, they may find themselves shortly thereafter depending on the government for unemployment assistance. Participation by employers would be necessary to assure the security of the employees’ jobs. Also, the self-employed would have to determine if they could sacrifice a day’s pay for the cause. It doesn’t sound realistic, and not enough people would participate to make it meaningful.
The idea sounded good to me for a second (hey, if they can do it, so can we!), then I considered the consequences and plausibility of such a large-scale action, which is why I added the second sentence to my statement. I should have stated it as a “what if” scenario then explained the consequences like I just did, or I shouldn’t have said it in the first place. I regret putting the idea out there. One of my many moments of poor judgment.
I know I responded with probably way more words than was necessary, and I also repeated what others already said. What can I say? I’m a wordy kinda guy. Deal widdit.
One word…..
Slob
You can always tell the libs. As soon as I saw that mug I knew where he was coming from. And he does look rather toadish. What a dope. Ooo, I’m impressed! You have 4 papers deilvered to your house every day!
Note to James: Dude, no offense but there’s a reason they picked you to do the balloon animals and not Rahm. And it’s not a good thing. Just sayin’ but for your own self-respect please read this and mull it over for the weekend.
Interesting how all the lefty commentators have used phrases like “not scared” and “not worried.” It’s as if the elite media think this movement is aimed at them.
Hmmm. If the MSM think these protests are a challenge to them, then that mindset confirms what conservatives have believed for a very long time.
By dismissing the Tea Parties, Wolcott and others in the MSM have done more to ensure that the movement will continue than anyone at Fox News.
The challenge has been put down. Do a protests in an even bigger way. I can not wait to attend a big march on Washington DC this summer.
Errah Who is this fat unkept hobo parading around in James Wolcott’s clothes? (Janeane Garofalo??!!) Must be a pretty posh alleyway if they had a TV available for him to watch tea parties.
Errah the solice in our numbers at the tea parties can be gleened from the fact that each and every adult attending the parties is probably a registered voter and not a shiftless lemming bussed in for a pack of cigarettes aand a box lunch.
I don’t usually criticize anyone for their looks…but since this guy is such a slimy sleaze, he deserves the title of “ugliest SOB I’ve Ever Seen”. Seriously, he needs a bath and a hairwash before the cosmetic surgeons will even get in the same room with him. Ugh. To be fair, however, he might be really really ill and on the verge of collapse, judging from those dark bags under his eyes. Perhaps he needs to get to the doctor post haste! If he gets a clean bill of health, maybe we could get him a blind date with Helen Thomas. Cute couple.
A little mouthwash wouldn’t hurt either. Phew.
Now THAT is hilarious!! Bwaahaahaaa….
I keep hoping Jack Bauer “offs” her character on 24.
Errah I would let the CIA waterboard him with a bar of Lava soap before he gets on air again. Where’s he showing up next . . . . Larry King, Barely Alive??!!! Hopefully its a dark set so the flies aren’t so readily apparent.
Errah Happyscrapper, don’t pull any punches. Tell us what you really think about this liberal Graf Zepplin. LOL!!!!!!!!!
OMG lol lol
It’s a left-wing state of mind.
