Micheal Steele introduced Palin with a very strong endorsement, and Sarah endorsed him back, very strongly. I think Mr. Steele just repaired his image among many, many grassroots Republicans.

Not that anyone would give a crap about actual news or anything………

It depends on your definition of “improve”. For some, especially the more unrefined members of society, it is a behavior that has been reinforced and rewarded throughout their lives by their families, communities and general exposure. They have been given no reason to hold themselves to a higher standard and they seek out those who share or encourage such behavior. That’s not to say the vulgarity can’t be controlled, it’s just that they have no reason to control it.

I’ll readily admit that I believe there are beneficial uses for vulgarity, especially in high stress occupations (e.g. military, law enforcement, etc.), but such behavior is situational and limited in scope based on the organizational culture, professional requirements and your personal predilections. The trick is knowing how to be tactful when necessary and some people just can’t control themselves.

I don’t think vulgarity on a blog like this is entirely problematic as long as it is within the limits established by the site owner, but the anonymous nature of internet communication lends itself to levels of vulgarity that probably aren’t exhibited in many real world interactions.

Does it lead to more respect or does is further the decay?

It depends on who you are trying to gain respect from. Some don’t consider increased vulgarity a sign of decay. It’s more like a sign of enlightenment or freedom from an oppressive standard. Standards are relative, obviously.

I’m of the opinion that although I can see the limited benefits of vulgarity, its increased prevalence in our society furthers decay. Then again, my background is such that unrestrained vulgarity was never something that was reinforced or rewarded.

Regarding Larry and Levi, their collective behavior gets rewarded so they have no reason to fix themselves.

Just something to ponder.
