I have read what you posted. You want to define him as part of the problem because you believe he may somehow “benefit” from lower prices that some companies may offer due to hiring illegals.

But you appear to ignore the significant costs he pays whether he directly or indirectly saves a few pennies through downstream effects of “lower labor costs” due to illegal immigration.

I have read what you posted and I am taking you to task for ignoring the OBVIOUS. Illegal immigration is a net loss for legal residents and citizens. One individual might save $20 a month on their lawn service and we all get to pay hundreds a month for medical care and education and criminal justice costs associated with illegal immigration!

The flu outbreak may be the emergency Biden warned us Obama would face. I remember when I was stationed in England during the 1968 outbreak. Over half of the people in our area got sick. Stores closed, and buses had honor pails for people to dump their fares. No one collected the garbage or delivered food to old people.

We sat around reading magazines instead of taking x rays because most of our scheduled patients were sick on the ward. If what we saw then becomes a world-wide phenoninium the world economy will suffer for a while. Steven King’s The Stand describes in extreme version what happened around our base. Unlike in his book, no one panicked and few people died.

    War Eagle,

I agree but look at it another way:

Illegal Aliens are criminals. We punish criminals for two reasons: To prevent crime and to save the money that criminals cost the system. However, we also do it on the principal alone. A drunk driver who doesn’t hurt anyone else costs us nothing – but it is still a crime for what it could do..

If we ignore immigration crime because we, as a society, might benefit financially, then we should also ignore murder if the right people are killed. Right?

Hypothetically, if every third person in over the age of 60 were murdered tomorrow (not advocating it, just a scenario), we, as a society, would stand to save a boatload of money in medical bills and long term care. Could we let this happen? I mean, morally, could we let this sort of thing happen just to save money? Of course not.

But some in our society condone illegal immigration (a crime) just because it saves money. Who cares if people die due to intoxicated illegal aliens driving a car (worst punishment they can get is to be sent home)? Who cares if they suck Medicare and Medicaid dry? Who cares if they screw over those aliens who try to do it the right way? It saves money, right? So, lets kill a bunch of old people on the same principal.. Wait, that’s foolish. It would be a crime! So is illegal immigration.

send_me: why don’t we do both? They are not exclusionary. Teas parties are best thing we have going.

I apologize if it seemed like I was saying that homeschooling and Tea Parties are mutually exclusive. They aren’t. But I ask, what are “conservatives” doing to help make homeschooling an option for more people (i.e. single parents)? This would be one area that the church could/should take care of the our “widows and orphans”. Imagine what would happen if churches and laypeople would make it more financially possible for single parents to homeschool their children. I’m not talking a free-ride. The single parent would help out the church, etc. This is just one example. Adopting more children, removing them from state-run institutions, would also have a significant impact in just a couple generations.
My point with these Tea Parties is this: what cultural impact are they making? Cultural impact takes time, decades, to make. I’m talking about cultural hegemony. For example, most probably see the bumper sticker “Choose Life” and think it’s pro-life. But I ask, what is this communicating? The bumper sticker is saying “choose”, hence acknowledging the validity of the opposing side’s argument and conceding that life is fundamentally a choice. “Conservatives” talk a lot about freedom, but to what end? If everyone in the country has a different perception of the nature of freedom and rights, then what does such talk accomplish? We must go deeper. We must transform the culture. We must change what our fellow citizens view as “common sense”. This takes years, decades, to accomplish. This happens in four places: 1) the home (to include education), 2) all forms of media, but especially the cinema, 3) the church, which means going back to true Christianity as opposed to “our best life now” or a “purpose-driven life”, and 4) through working within our sphere of influence to educate others.
If Tea Parties are the truly the “best thing we have going”, then we’re much worse off than I thought. You could probably just chalk us up there with Great Britain and France right now.

Unfortunately, he backed up and did it again, then backed up and left the scene.

Fortunately, I was on the phone with dispatch and relayed the license plate number and discription.

Interestingly, a cop drove past me right behind him, but didn’t stop, even though my hazards were on. As I told the dispatcher.

As my daughter described, it was a “Mexican with a mustache and a large cowboy hat.”

Given the part of town we were in, I’m guessing he was also illegal.

The cop who finally showed up 25 minutes later said that a detective might go to his house and they may give him a ‘leaving the scene’ citation and they might impound his car.

Since they didn’t stop him on the street, apparently they can’t get him for being obviously drunk.

    From an email I received:

Obama To Release Terrorists Into The U.S.,
    Violating U.S. Law
Dear Military Families United Member and Supporter,
First, President Obama announced that he was closing Guantanamo Bay to fulfill two campaign promises without a plan on the future of the detainees. Then came the release of Binyam Mohammed, a terrorist who admitted to training at various al-Qaeda camps and has alleged to have plotted multiple attacks on American soil. After that came the announcement of two more GITMO releases, both of whom trained at al-Qaeda camps and met with Osama bin Laden. Today, Military Families United has learned that as many as seven GITMO detainees will be freed in the United States, which not only endangers the lives of American citizens but is a violation of U.S. law.
The seven terrorists, known as “Uighurs,” were captured on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and were trained at the al-Qaeda affiliated East Turkistan Islamic Movement (”ETIM”) Tora Bora camp. Many of you may recognize the name Tora Bora because in December of 2001, U.S. and Afghan forces were closing in on the location of Osama bin Laden in Tora Bora, Afghanistan. Not so coincidentally the Uighurs were captured in the area around Tora Bora while Osama bin Laden was using an escape route from that region. And now these terrorists will be freed in the United States, no trial, no detention, no justice.
The release of these terrorists will not only endanger American citizens on our own soil but is against U.S. Law. U.S. law (8 U.S.C. 12 § 1182) which plainly states that any alien who had engaged in various forms of terrorist activity or training cannot be permitted into the United States. However, the Administration appears more concerned with the safety of these detainees than that of the American people and what our laws say.
We need your help to keep terrorists out of our country. If you haven’t signed our petition at DontFreeTerrorists.org, please do so today. Also, please send this email to 5 of your friends and family members to let them know about these newest developments.
Our brave men and women in uniform fought to capture these terrorists, only to be released onto US soil. We used to “fight them there, so we didn’t have to fight them here.” What kind of a message does it send our troops that while they are putting their lives on the line in Iraq and Afghanistan, we are chartering planes for those who they have captured to live in the very communities our military families live.
We need your help to let America know about the dangers of freeing suspected terrorists. We cannot allow our country be put in danger.

    Quotes from this morning’s papers:

Obama spoke to the CIA on April 20th and told them he was taking actions that would make their job harder:

“Now, I have put an end to the interrogation techniques described in those OLC memos. … So yes, you’ve got a harder job. And so do I. And that’s okay.”

That’s okay? Doesn’t making their job harder make us less safe?

I never dreamed I would ever say this, but I think Pres. Obama could learn something from Jimmy Carter:

The foremost responsibility of any President, above all else, is to guarantee the security of our nation.”

For those who think American immigration is difficult try to get a visa in Russia, China, The Philippines or any number of other countries. Our immigration process is hardly uniquely difficult.

Perhaps they haven’t actually been used, but two points:

    1) the Bush administration certainly claimed the right to use them again. Obama is claiming we do not, so he certainly can say he is putting an end to them; and

    2) if they were so effective and valuable, and legal, why DID Bush stop using them?

Because, as you will find I’ve said elsewhere, there are other techniques that I am persuaded work at least as well that are not so expensive.

All of those, however, require time. Sometimes, we don’t have that component of the equation.

So, to feed his stinking ego, and his self-righteous and morally confused constituents, Obama has taken a viable, valuable, and very little used tool off the table.

And Americans are less safe today than we were before THE ONE took the oath of office…that he is busily shredding.

I can say I wish National American Legion Commander David Rehbein was a little stronger in his rebuke to the Secretary-I would have- but at least he said something and did not fawn over the Obama Administration. He is the man who publicly called out Obama on the Veterans Health Care Issue.

Veterans are in for a rough road for the next four years-as will all military people I suppose-so WE need to step up for them. We have seen the slams and LIES of Murtha, Richard Durbin, Kerry-AGAIN and of course the talking heads of MSM and the weenies of the Left.

So we BITTER FEW best get busy. Illegally, but due to childhood trauma as my parents were too strict and would not let me have a second helping of ice cream, I do have this urge to waterboard certain fore mentioned Senators, a Representative and the weenies of the Left-and leave them under water.

But it is my parents fault.

I had the misfortune of watching the movie “I could never be your woman” last night.

Not only was the movie bad, but the child sang a song for a talent show explaining that Bush was moronic and would sell his mother for a gallon of gas. I wonder if we’ll ever see any criticism like this of Obama. Ever.

When the pendulum swings this far to the left, the return trip to the right will just be that much more enjoyable.

This is a blog where an individual decides what to write. Can you picture Hollywood bashing Obama the way they did Bush? Even when Clinton gets mentioned, it’s usually in a joking manner about sex. Vitriol is reserved for Bush.

Leni Riefenstahl wasn’t as loyal as Hollywood.

    Dunno.

    Neither do you.

That makes us both completely ignorant of what we’re discussing, on the finite level.

    Two things…

I’m not willing, in the absence of information, to accuse people of wrong who are trying to protect their nation. You are.

If it was OK to water-board KSM once, it was OK to water-board him 200 times…under the care and supervision of a doctor, only under certain conditions…blah, blah, blab-la

Years ago I had just moved into military housing and didnt know any of my neighbors yet. One morning I open my sliding glass door and the toddler from next door comes through my back gate, greets me and barges past me just like I was his doorman.

He then plops himself up on my couch and makes himself at home. Funniest kid in the world.

I expected his mom to be scouring the neighborhood for him, but I picked him up and took him back home. She didnt even have a clue he was gone. LOL. The kid could get through almost any kind of lock she could put on the door.
