Unless the humidity was around 45 to 55 % I’m thinking It stinks and is dry.

Ideal conditions for aging Cuban-type cigars are supposed to be 70/70...70% relative humidity at 70 degrees F. There is warm disagreement among cigar affeccianadios (sp, I can't spell)(I know, color us all surprised), but those are the general consensus conditions. European cigars are far dryer.

In some climates, storage in a drawer (especially if the cigar was in cellophane) might accidentally work out to be near perfect. The cellophane would act to buffer rapid changes in the conditions, as would other stuff in the drawer.

One thing to be cautious of, however, is that high humidity and high temperature could have induced mold growth. That could be not just bad, but dangerous. I am not a mold-o-phobe, but I know that our little friends can produce some very interesting toxins. Smoking them could set you free...in either a good or terminal way...

A whitish, powdery material on the wrapper (skin) of the cigar is not necessarily mold. It can be what is called "blume", and can be a sign of wonderful things to come.

If you take the cigar out of its happy place in the drawer, be aware of humidity in your home when you do. Place it in a good baggie, and, if the humidity is low, breathe into the baggie. Seal it, and either keep it for eventual appreciation, or get it to a cigar shop. It could be worth not a little money.

DO NOT FREEZE the cigar. That would almost certainly destroy it under most conditions.

What do you think, Devil Dog?
