Health hazard: ACORN mob strikes

They’re baaaaack. The housing entitlement mobsters of ACORN menaced a Sacramento foreclosure auction event today — and helped send an auctioneer to the hospital with chest pains. Homeland security alert, Ja-No? Left-wing extremism is on the rise:

A large crowd of protesters disrupted several foreclosure auctions today on the Sacramento County Courthouse steps, winning temporary cancellation of one Sacramento foreclosure and sending an auctioneer to the hospital with chest pains.

Bidders on the homes, all declining to provide their names, called the ACORN protest the first major disruption of an established auction schedule that plays out every weekday at the courthouse following 37,000 foreclosures in the capital region since Jan. 2007…

…As the first auction was to begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Sacramento County Courthouse steps, Los Angeles ACORN member Kathleen Thompson-Boons asked an unidentified auctioneer with LPS Financial Services of Sacramento “to stop the auction.”

When the auctioneer resumed seeking bids from nine potential bidders, Thompson-Boons asked again, prompting the auctioneer to say, “If you’re not going to bid, then go away.”

Seconds later, protesters surrounded the group, chanting, blowing whistles and creating a commotion that made it impossible to hear. The auctioneer, who had a pacemaker according to associates, began to collapse and was later taken to a local hospital.

The protest continued for about 90 minutes. ACORN members left after cheering a concession by LPS Financial Services to cancel a specific requested foreclosure auction for one Sacramento family. Minutes later, as the group left, the auctions resumed as scheduled.

These ACORN zealots are out of control. If you can’t make the payments on your house, then you either a)lose the house b)refinance if you’re not a total deadbeat, c) don’t buy a house. I guess these common principles have gone over the heads of these people.

No, let’s never suffer hardship America, living lives overleveraged in homes that you could never afford in the first place. Yes, there are fraudulent mortgage brokers like there are homeowners. They are both feeling the pain of what happens when a housing bubble collapses. Eighth bubble to be exact.

As a renter, I’m living in a former HUD forclosure bought as a real estate “investment” by a Navy couple who now own the home. It’s a money pit. It’s got so many problems I wouldn’t know where to start. A lot of these foreclosed homes are left in such a state I wonder why anybody would buy them after they’re trashed by their irresponsible former owners.

This isn’t to say that all homeowners who go into foreclosure or are facing it haven’t done everything they could to live within their means and refinance. It’s the other segment of America, the entitlement class, who don’t really investigate what it takes to own a home and what is involved in homeownership that I have the biggest problem with.

If anyone doubts that ACORN is nothing more than organized crime with an air freshener hanging on it, they would be delusional. ACORN is among those groups that are “The New Mafia”. While no of Sicilian origin, their methods are essentially the same, just without weapons.

Ummm, actually if you look at it these days, it is to uphold and defend the “Law” originally being the Constitution. That minor detail having been perverted, the Law Enforcement officials do not technically have any responsibility to protect citizens but only the law. That is how they have gotten away with this madness for so long … simply amazing what can be done with a little play on semantics.

I’m a staunchly conservative black American. My grandfather on my father’s side came over from Jamaica early in the last century. My grandmother on my mother’s side was the granddaughter of a slave. I was taught by both sides of the family to love the USA, work hard, and be the best I can be.

My father was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and served with distinction in both. Currently, I’m on my 20th year as an AF Reserve officer. I’m a Christian first, and because of that, often called “conservative” (my politics put me to the right of Thomas Sowell and Clarence Thomas).

I say all that to say, can we dispense with the assumption that everything untoward in this administration and it’s supporters has to do with black folks? Last time I checked, ACORN had plenty of white folks in it, and where I live, in ultra-Liberal WA state, the most likely persons to have hyphenated last names are decidedly lacking in melanin; in fact, I don’t know of any black folks, personally, with a hyphenated last name.

Then, there was some crack earlier in the “Swagga” about Obama not letting them “smoke their crack” with nary a qualification about who “they” were, if they were a subset of some one group or all of them. The implication was that it was all black people.

I don’t walk with a “swagga” and at 42, I’ve never worn my pants sagging, nor have I permitted my kids, particularly my son (who just graduated from USMC Recruiting Depot San Diego last week as a PFC) to walk with a “swagga”.

Getting to my point, it’s getting tiresome trying to tell the liberals I know that conservatives are not the racists, that in fact, LIBERALS are, when I constantly run into totally overbroad characterizations about black folks from the conservative camp. Yes, I’m aware of the pathologies that are inherent in American black subculture that are totally ruinous and I’m THE guy in my circles talking about it the most, but I also have the good sense to not make blanket statements that imply that everyone of ANY color is exactly the same as the next person of the same color. When you talk like that, it plays right into the stereotype of the white, secret racist that fills the ranks of the “conservative movement” where black folks like me play “Uncle Tom.”

NEWSFLASH: We don’t all look alike and we don’t all act alike.
