Ron Sims, liar
I wrote two weeks ago about transparency killer, Ron Sims, who has been tapped by Barack Obama for the No. 2 position at HUD and said that I hoped “someone on the committee is talking to the folks who have fought the real Ron Sims in his own backyard.” Last week, blogger Stefan Sharkansky of Sound Politics won a whopping $225,000 settlement in his public disclosure suit against Sims.
Is anyone listening?
Well, you’ll be glad to know someone’s on the ball in the Beltway. And you’ll also be glad to know that Sims was exposed as a big liar by the Washington Examiner:
President Barack Obama’s nominee for deputy secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) told Senator David Vitter (R-La.) last week during a confirmation hearing that he could not comment about his role in an on-going legal battle over a sport stadium.
“With regard to the litigation involving Qwest Field, since the matter is involved in active litigation, I am regrettably unable to comment upon that case,” said Ronald Sims, the King County Executive in Washington State.
However, when he wasinterviewed by a television crew the next day about a $120,000 fine Sims denied concealing any records or having any personal involvement in the case. Sims also said there were no records linking him with the case.
“I didn’t conceal anything, so you’re absolutely wrong on that,” he said. “I was not fined $120,000. As a matter of fact, it’s interesting because there is nothing in the court record at all involving me personally. I never was involved in that at all. There’s nothing—nothing regarding my conduct. I didn’t conceal a thing. I did order the release of documents after they were discovered, but I never concealed anything.”
Court records contradict these statements. “The office of Ron Sims, King County Executive” was listed as the respondent in a court ruling issued this past January. Writing for the majority in Yousoufian v. Sims, Justice Richard Sanders concluded that information was withheld from the plaintiff and that fines should be levied.
Be sure to contact your Senators about this transparency-killing, truth-challenged hack.
202-224-3121.
And ask all the members of the Senate Banking committee who unanimously supported him today what exactly they have against public disclosure laws and ethics.
Best and brightest my foot.

You can get the whole truth about the stadium case from the citizen activist who blew the whistle and wouldn’t let Sims’ sins go, Armen Yousoufian. His blog is here.

Michelle, michelle, michelle, when will you ever learn that the rules simply don’t apply to Democrats.
sigh…
He belongs in King County Jail.
The members of congress do not care. They don’t care. They never care. It’s never about us. Never ever about us. The saddest thing is, as you can tell, none of this is news to me anymore. I have the lowest possible expectations of my elected officials. That way I’m never disappointed. I’m learning how to make my own clothes from curtains and spit, since shortly we conservatives, and particularly we Christians, will be living underground in catechombs.
Democrat liar in Washington
Quite redundant
But don’t allow that to make you complacent!!!
Call, write…whatever…your people in DC and OPPOSE this thug!!!
Not only that–someone should probably pat him down…
Good follow up Michelle, where’s that newsboy hat of yours?
I doubt Specter or that useless, good for nothing Casey will respond to conservative calls, they haven’t so far, and I’ve been trying for years!
No, really, he does belong in this administration, being so much like everyone else in it.
Yeah, I’ll get right on the phone to Feinstien and Boxer. As truth-challenged hacks themselves, they’ll know right where I’m coming from with my concern.
what are the names of the Republicans on the committee that voted for this mutt?

Or Chicago. Or Detroit. Or SanFransissyco.
Narcissism is a disease. Its’ presence should be tested for before anyone runs for office. Like steroids in athletes.
I do so admire your work Michelle, but we fax, phone, email, write and all we do gets put in the ‘nut job’ file. This bunch in dc will do as they dang well please. They want us to just keep working, paying taxes, keep your mouth shut, be good little bho zombies. I never thought I would see what my faith said would happen, happen, well it is almost here and I know what the out come will be. I B a happy camper!

See you in the catechombs, letget! Keep studying the Word, because we’ll need to know it by heart after they confiscate our bibles. I agree….the outcome will be sweet. Saaaa-weeeeet!
Here is more on Sims (as if you need more):
and what did Ron Sims have to say about this case when it first came to light:
I don’t mean to be negative or argumentative to MM, but does anyone really think a dark blue lib senator is going to care what a red neck, gun tottin’, conservative has to say? They already know we did not and will not vote for them. When I’m upset about an issue I call and email them to no avail, same with my rep. It won’t matter till we have real conservatives in congress that will listen to us…possibly not always agreeing but they will at least listen.
waiting for M. Steele to post in all states with federal elections(senator and house of rep’s) next year, for all conservatives interested in serving their country to sign up for primary elections, noting, RINO’s need not apply.
vickisoup,
Not to worry. We do know. Nice to see others feel the same way I do. Thanks, Michelle for letting me give my view on things.

He’s a vile scumbag who is a stranger to the truth, so of course he’ll get the damned job. Then he, Specter and Sebelius can go have cocktails together and laugh at the catatonic peasant masses.
This entire situation is a giant surrealistic nightmare.
Oh excuse me, I forgot the county decided to change the name for whom King County was really named for to name it for MLK.. The King County logo was changed (wonder how much that cost?), to a likeness of MLK. I meant to say Sims belongs in Martin Luther King County Jail.
Look, I fully understand the need for open and honest government, but it’s absolutely essential that Ron Sims be confirmed. Y’all quit complaining about him because I think this is the only way we are ever going to dislodge this lying SOB from King County government. Please take pity on all of us in King County whose votes have been stolen by Friends of Ron, and move this slimeball to the other Washington.
He’ll make a good president some day.
This is going to sound like an obvious question but here goes:
Is there anybody affiliated with this administration who has a friendly relationship with the truth? Who isn’t ethically, morally, legally challenged in some way? Who haven’t already gotten away with more than most people could try to do in one lifetime?
I know, I know…. it’s a pattern of behavior and people that is adding up to a larger picture that doesn’t look at all pleasant for a country that likes to think it’s not corrupt.
And Dems think that Republicans have faults? Look in the mirror…. it isn’t pretty, Dems.
Ten years ago I started working in a business that does a substantial amount of work directly for the government.
Prior to working here, I believed government was filled largely with not the best and brightest (government became the employer of last resort) and generally was just giant slow moving bureaucracy. No mal-intent, just incompetence. Now after having dealt with the government “face to face” in a business setting for these past 10 years, I’ve come to believe not only is the government incompetent, it is also just as corrupt as any third world country government that I’ve dealt with in the past. Generally speaking – the heads of the departments are corrupt and the “worker bees” are incompetent.
Everybody keeps their mouth shut because of an almost “organized crime” level of control.
(This is not to say that every dept head is corrupt or every “worker bee” is dumb – there are many exceptions.)
At this point, I have no faith in the governments will or ability to do the right thing.
The US government is not the solution to any problem – it is the problem.
Just sent an email to Senator Bunning. (It may be the first email I’ve sent to him to seriously complain about something. He usually votes the “right” way.)
A liar in the Obama administration? Tell me it ain’t so.
I believe it’s called trickle down lying. It starts at the top and pretty soon all of the subordinates catch it.
Obama ran on lies and continues to tell them. The problem is, his water carriers in the press don’t feel he should be held accountable.
A lie here, a tax evasion there. Some pay for play here, some graft there. Pretty soon, we start to see a pattern.
He’s not simply lying, he’s ignoring the verdict of the state’s courts and he’s willfully disobeying state law.
HE’S PERFECT!
Wouldn’t it be interesting, at the end of this four year nightmare, to have the GOP members in Congress call on the Attorney Geneeral for an “investigation” into what laws have been broken in this administration? Make public the memos, publish the pictures, track the phone calls etc. Hey what goes around, comes around.
As for “transparency”? I suspect Obama’s definition of the word means continual face time for him and his tele p, and continuous press conferences by the Drone, “I know nothing”, Gibbs.
Shhhh. Those of us still living in King County are quite happy about the idea of him leaving. Washington, D.C. is already so hoplessly screwed up that Sims won’t make it much worse. Please let him go. He’s been our problem long enough.
