    But he could have phrased it better. There’s no reason to avoid mass transit in the US at this point, but if the flu spreads, it would make sense to find alternate means of transportation if at all possible.

    So I’d say his intentions were probably good but he jumped the gun.

Senior government health and security officials insisted that doing so would have “marginal” medical value because the virus has already spread across the United States. Lieberman (I-Conn.). warned the Obama administration to consider tighter checks, such as on Mexican temporary workers, “because I think if you don’t, there will be growing pressure to really close the ports of entry.”

    DHS is afraid of how it might look if Border Agents wear masks but not concerned about Agents catching the disease. I suppose they haven’t thought about the fact that masks on agents also protect the people the agents are inspecting. What if an agent gets the flu and has contact with thousands of people a day? How will that look?

    The schools, Tarwater Elementary and Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School, are both closed for seven days, officials said. They are not releasing any further details about the children, including ages, or how they contracted the disease, in order to protect their privacy
