Sarah Palin on Twitter? You betcha! — Update: TV critic has PDS
Sarah Palin is now using Twitter (AKGovSarahPalin), and I see she’s increased about 100 followers just in the time to write this sentence.
Update: Maybe the governor will be doing some Tweeting about her upcoming appearance on American Chopper. I think I’ll go to the Sturgis rally this August… ya know, just in case.
Update II: Via Newsbusters — The Baltimore Sun’s pencil-necked TV critic put his Palin Derangement Syndrome out for all to see in his description of the American Chopper episode featuring Palin:
Move over, Kate Gosselin, a bigger hot dog than you is coming to The Learning Channel Thursday night when Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appears on American Chopper.
Is this a marriage made in reality TV heaven or what?
Thursday’s episode featues Paul Teutul Sr., the father of the chopper building clan that stars in this series, journeying to Alaska to do research on a special bike that he and his posse are building to honor the 50th anniversary of the state.
And, of course, who better to be his new best biker mama friend than that moose hunting sharpshooter, who blew up any chance the Republicans had to make it to the White House last fall with her divisive rhetoric and disastrous TV interviews.
American Chooper airs at 9 Thursday night on TLC.

Whew!! If I’d had those problems, I might not be a Ford purchaser either. I appreciate your point of view. I just hope we can keep at least one American company of any kind operating.
There’s no real threadjack. Part of the discussion swung to moderates and, for whatever reason, moderates are apparently people who cant hold/maintain a political conviction, not people who maintain political convictions that are outside by the far left and far right spectrums. Abortion is a good, if heated, exmaple of one these convictions.
Also: rat terriers – is this not the most adorable of beasts?
Jeddite, you bailed out!
is abortion equate to murder in the Dominican Republic?
John:
LOL. It was about time for a Reductio ad Hitlerum, wasn’t it?
emjem24:
I was just a tad surprised. I remember you being one of the more vocal pro-life folks. I have to admit I did not expect to hear that your husband has more or less identical views to me on the matter. Does he also support ESCR? Why or why not?
(Might as well threadjack, it’s past the point of no return anyhow. I’ll be sure and bring up evolution and maybe even god later).
PS. Awww cute doggie!
chapoutier:
LOL. Actaully, it’s richarddawkins.net, so, depending on who you ask, what you say isn’t wholly inaccurate.
I bailed out of nothing. If you’re trying to entrap me, I’m afraid it just won’t work. Despite whatever your feels on the subject of abortion, abortion is not considered murder by the laws of the United States of America.
“Muslim countries” are not the USA, and I’m not going to defend what is permissible by law in those countries. But hey, if you want to me say that I think stoning 8 year old girls is A-OK, then I’m afraid you’re going to be rather disappointed.
Also: I’m not familiar with the laws surrounding abortion in the Dominican Republic. And again, the Dominican Republic is not the USA, nor, to my knowledge, a “muslim countr[y]“
Are they zombie pugs?
I hear ya. I’m disappointed in what’s happened with the Big 3. I want to give them a chance but it’s become a trial and error thing with me when it comes to American autos.
I really like Saturn and resent how GM has mismanaged all its brands. They shouldn’t have had to let go of the Pontiac brand. Since Chrysler has now declared bankruptcy, GM might as well now too because they have so many brands under their umbrella that they can’t seem to manage.
I hope Saturn leaves the GM fold and functions on its own or I don’t know what I’ll do. I don’t know if Saturn is reluctant to do without GM because it gives them a lot of financial backing, has the GMAC financial arm, or both but Saturn will have to make a choice. I really wanted to trade in my Vue for another, newer Vue but if Saturn goes, there goes that plan.
I am, however, going to “bail out” of my office for 30 minutes to acquire a tasty naked burrito bowl from Chipotle – carnitas style. A crime in some “muslim countries,” I am sure. FIGHT THE SWING FLU!
Puppies! Like my Char-pei?
Ratties have the most unique personalities of any breed I know. And they are fearless.
I wasn’t trying to trap you Jeddite. I was just trying to find out what basis you were making that statement. Now I see that its ‘whats legal in the US’. To add a third point to your knowlege of the Dominican Republic…abortion is not legal and therefore it could equate to murder.
Yeah, they’re cute too. Terriers are a tad hyperactive and need a strict routine of chasing the human around to get a toy. I had a Yorkie growing up and she was cute but she was a hyperactive little princess on steroids.
I’ll take a pug who is low maintenance and will lie on my lap whenever they want.
I suppose a cat person should probably just stay right out of this conversation.
I thought cats like rodents?
sambo:
The very obvious basis that myself and likely Jeddite will use has been stated many, many, many, many, many, many times on this board. Do I even have to restate it? For what purpose? So we can have a hate-filled flame-fest once again?
We have been through this debate a million times on this website, why do you even bother trying to rehash exactly the same arguments (which go nowhere) when you already know the retort?
Dogs and cats are great. Especially with ketchup, even my pet dog and cat agree on that point.
I haven’t seen a debate on moderate pro lifers…is it a person who knows that its wrong but doesn’t really care because the ones that are doing it couldn’t raise their children anyway?
zeroangel said:
I’m a very vocal pro-lifer. My husband isn’t. He’s more of a pragmatist on the abortion issue. I have no idea what ESCR is so you’ll have to clue me in on that (my accronym guide is not working today). He’s more of a moderate than me on certain issues. Hey, people do marry those of polar opposite beliefs, religions, and personalities.
Please, Dear God, don’t bring up evolution (please don’t hit me!!!).
They get bigger.
Pugs are the perfect antidote to a downer of a day. They do shed so you get to take a little bit of them with you every day (not in a creepy Angelina Jolie wearing blood in a necklace sort of way).
sambo:
Are you purposely being facetious? Was that a serious question? What exactly is a “moderate pro-lifer” and how are they different from a “moderate pro-choice” person?
IIRC, you have been in threaads where I clearly spelled out my position (recall the whole analog vs. digital thing).
That should answer your question.
Side-stepping the discussion of dogs and abortion… I’ve been reading all the postings today regarding Sarah Palin vs. Obama and how they were promoted or not promoted by the media and liberals, I thought of a comparison.
The liberals and media don’t want a genuine, regular person to hold public office, let alone a national office. Sarah Palin is a genuine person, open about her convictions and puts her “warts” on public display and won’t lie about them.
The liberals and media want an image, a facade. Sort of a “Portrait of Dorian Gray” mentality. They are willing to spend millions on lawyers or whatever is needed to keep the door locked to the closet that holds the evil portrait.
emjem24:
ESCR
Don’t worry, I no longer have any interest in trying to explain evolution on this site anymore.
John, stop it!!! Do you hear me? Do you know what you’ve done? Now it’s a guarantee that Chaps WILL bring about a zombie revolution.
My two (1 girl and 1 boy) are definitely not zombies. They are my instant stranger danger, Fedex/UPS delivery guy, meterologist, and bunny rabbit detectors.
Now if I could only get them to get me my shoes, run some errands for me and kill bugs, I’d be all set.
OH! Chap–are you a cat person?
Snowfire:
Actually, I *DO* want a genuine person in office. However, the realities of politics more or less do not encourage “genuineness.”
I most assuredly DO NOT want a “regular” person in office. Whoever holds the highest office in the country should be much more qualified, educated, and experienced then any “regular” person.
Now before anyone goes apesh|t, I am not saying I think Obama fits that bill.
That depends. Which answer will NOT lead to a creepy TMI conversation like you had with right4life?
Cicero, Murtha’s an insult to all Char-peis. Ick.
I would not describe myself as either “pro life” or “pro choice” because the abortion issue, despite the best efforts of BOTH SIDES, is NOT a black & white issue. Such labels serve little purpose outside of the proponents of either side branding those who do not share their view, and does not further the debate by any constructive means.
Im commenting so much today. Must be a combination of slow Thursday and my own zeal for Sarah Palin.
You’ll have convinced me on evolution, Zero, once you have evolved into a human.
Partial-birth abortion deprives one (the abortee) of the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
Palin holds these truths to be self-evident.
No. It wasn’t facetious. A definition of a moderate pro-choice is easy. I just never heard/thought of a moderate pro-lifer.
um, my initial response wasn’t to right4life…it was a response to undre etc’s post of how wonderful she was…
I was showing how on the interwebs you can say you are anything…
cicerokid:
Do we need another F bomb today? Do I have restate for the millionth time that I am strongly against anything in the 3rd trimester? (Which obviously means I am against partial birth)
sambo:
As Jeddite points out, these labels are unclear and just obfuscate the debate. It is enough to say one is “moderate” on the topic and leave it at that.
Does your cat do tricks?
Ouch!! Ohhhh…that’ll leave a mark.
That’s just not right. Where did the love go?
My thoughts:
I think I’ve done a fine job of redirecting the conversation, don’t you?
I saw the post earlier and was wondering what a moderate pro lifer would think…I’m not sure if you made it or not. But I was just fishing for your opinion becaused I disagreed with the ‘US law’ arguement. No other motive Jeddite.
Does waking me up at 4:30 in the morning for food count?
What Chinese zodiac animal are you, chap?
Got ya. I’m against it but I think that my husband doesn’t mind it. I don’t like the implications of the research but I think my husband, like many Americans, don’t give it a lot of thought.
And thank you for sparing us another evolution discussion. You’ve saved countless heads exploding today.
Chap:
No. My unborn son already does that and his whole universe is still a warm bag of water.
Apparently, snake.
emjem24:
*smile* Honestly, I do feel terrible for you guys, but I tried my best.
Thank God! its a Holy subject.
meaning full of holes!
There’s still time to go off on a 100-comment gay marriage tangent. Virtually guaranteed to drive Jeddite [more] insane, albeit quietly.
zeroangel #220
Actually, I *DO* want a genuine person in office. However, the realities of politics more or less do not encourage “genuineness.”
That is exactly what is wrong with politics as usual today.
I most assuredly DO NOT want a “regular” person in office. Whoever holds the highest office in the country should be much more qualified, educated, and experienced then any “regular” person.
I think that regular people can be and are just as, if not more, educated and experienced than “rock stars.” They are for dang sure more honest.
sambo:
Dont you mean “unholy?” *smile*
Ummm… isn’t that more biology and survival instinct? I hope your cat doesn’t ever present you with a dead rodent. I had that happen to me once and put my lot in with the rodent community ever since then.
My male pug shrieks like a banshee when he’s not happy and barks aggressively at meteriologists because he developed an acute dislike of them at an early age. I don’t particularly like weather men/women myself. They’re usually wrong about all their forecasts.
Yes, I know, my male pug has issues. I’m sure my female pug would agree. Her trick? She sits and looks pretty.
Aw, c’mon, chap–the animals are not viewed that way in the far east…to quote AbFab, ‘try not to be so western in your thinking’
Snowfire:
We might be using a different definition of “regular.”
What I mean, is I can’t stand how politicians fall all over themselves to prove that they are “just regular, humble folks from poor beginnings.” “Just your run-of-the-mill, folksy, non ‘elite’”
I don’t want that. I want a successful, well-educated and affluent person; someone with a doctorate and a house in the Hamptons that he built with money from his company.
Unfortunately, those people are mostly busy running their own companies, conducting research, or otherwise doing something they consider to be more worthwhile then politics.
I was saying it was holy for you!
(you must have missed my follow up).
Now I have no idea what you are talking about. That was an earnest answer before.
sambo:
I see. Unfortunately, this is not how I feel. In fact, in some ways I wish it weren’t true.
I do understand how that doesn’t jive with your caricature of an atheist though.
ok, so what mo/day/year?
Heh. February 14. You can extrapolate the possible years from my previous answer.
Chap:
I think spacey felt that your use of “apparently” was meant to convey a distaste with the fact that your Chinese zodiac symbol is a snake.
A snake is a Zodiac sign? The Chinese need to worship the pug. The pugs would make them happier people.
I could say something about a certain professional industry that Chaps works in and that we all know and love but I’ll refrain.
I’m sorry, Chaps. Maybe in the next life you’ll be something more adorable than a snake. That’s just too self-fulfilling.
zeroangel #243
I agree with you on that assessment except for one thing. A person doesn’t have to be affluent and living in the Hamptons to know which way is up and right from wrong.
No, just that I had never looked into it.
I sure hope the chinese zodiac does not also need my social security number and bank routing and account number to make its predictions.
Snowfire:
This is true, but affluence is generally a fair estimate of success. Besides, there are other nice places to live, not just the Hamptons.
lol chap; 1977?
Too much affluence is can be an undesirable factor. Case in point: the Kennedy Family. Does anybody think the Kennedy family is just that much more non-regular than the rest of America? What are the qualifications for some of the Kennedys serving in office except for being a Kennedy?
Ummmm… don’t give them any ideas, okay? It’s about cats, dogs, abortion, and Sarah Palin and nothing more.
Jeddite:
Clearly, in matters of inherited wealth the model is flawed. This is why I said:
I should have been clearer and said:
Will catch up sometime. I am going outside with my daughter to help he evolve into a good basketball player!
sambo:
How about we don’t? How about we let this one die right here? Enjoy the time with your daughter.
And you far-eastern zodiacal animal…
The year is important chap!
Night all. I am off to my technology-less purgatory.
ok. deal. thanks. Have a good evening!
Yes 1977.
I wait eagerly for your report as to what this means.
See? You’re not a Snake. The wonderful year of the Dragon was not over until February 17.
Not that a Snake isn’t a good sign.
But Dragon is far better.
Sleep well, little Shen Long.
If he was born after Feb 17 in 1977 he’s a snake. I myself am a Dragon, please tell me he was born later in ‘77!
not if he was born on Valentine’s Day.
Ah, Aloha–you weren’t born in ‘76 were you??
Oh no, I just saw the Feb 14…
‘88. Haha. Not really.
Oh my word.
Is there anyone here who remembers, say, the 1972 Munich Olympics? The Bicentennial?? Woodstock?
Yes, yes and yes.
Also the first moon landing, Chappaquiddick, the first Earth Day,
the King and both Kennedy assassinations, Alan Shepherd’s first suborbital flight, and the Kennedy-Nixon election (the last three faintly; the last two very faintly).
I remember all of those though I was though Woodstock meant nothing to me at the time as I was just a kid.
ooo, granite…you may be older than I am…I remember most of those. I remember Eisenhower’s funeral.
I remember Robert & MLK’s assasinations. I was the same age as John Jr. at his dad’s funeral.
And my mother allowed me to stay up and watch the moon landing in 69. Normally we were in bed at that time but she felt it was kind of special.
We watched the moon landing in school, and hey–remember the earth day flags?? LOL. Also, remember where the ‘peace’ sign originated?
I think I’m going to change my ID to Methuselah, I remember Winston Churchill’s funeral.
Remember the time that actor was hiding in your barn and the cops came looking for him? John Wilkes something…
Dragon, Snake? Is this the kung-fu panda thread?
I am a tiger. Spacey-cake, kinda figured you for a rabbit. In heals.
Never had a reason to get a twitter account.
Until now.
Dragon, Snake, Rabbit…
It all sounds like a lot of BULL to me!
Now I’m officially outed as a codger. LOL
Please don’t make fun of me because I was born in the year of the Pig. Probably why I think “Flying Pig” flu is a good moniker and don’t eat pork. Not into cannabalism. (Besides God said not to eat ‘em.)
And it’s not Porkulus Bill, it’s the Rahm-it-Down-Americas-Throat-Self-stimulus Package. So there.
Me, too. Except for the last two. I was too busy learning about the laws of gravity and self-control to worry about politics and esoteric science.
And I voted for McCain because of Palin. Still have campaign buttons with just her on them hanging from my rearview mirror.
And I hope she runs in 2012, but I don’t blame her if she wants to have a private life with her kids and new grandson – as opposed to living in the WH toilet, er, fishbowl.
In the end I did not vote for McCain although the Palin selection made me think about it very briefly. But then McCain opened his mouth a day later and I realized it was a stunt and that Palin would have little to no influence in his administration. This is the first election in 30 years that I didn’t vote GOP. But, I knew I would never vote for John McCain back in 2003.
Thanks for letting us know that Sarah Palin was on Twitter! Yay! :]
a tiger, eh? Well that’s okay…Rush is a Tiger.
I’m a Rat. The first animal of the 12 year cycle. I got there first by my wits.
Heh; I’m married to a Rabbit. lol
WarEagle82, so you are one of the people that gave us the Obamanation. How happy you must be today. /sarc
Yes, McAmnesty sucks, but after considering the alternative I knew that staying home would be wrong, so instead I worked to get Palin elected.
What will you now do to get America the real leaders it needs. Stay home again, work on more excuses for allowing the leftists to ruin the U.S., or sign up as a GOP volunteer?
Those that can, do.
Thanks, DannoJyd. I,too, wanted Palin to win in spite of McCain. I voted for McCain just to have Sarah in the VP slot. For all the rhetoric on this thread about “regular” people. I’d just love to see someone in office with real, honest COMMON SENSE AND INTEGRITY who would support term limits.
