Arlen Specter: Human Ipecac

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 4, 2009 12:24 PM

You know, it’s one thing for far Left bloggers to go bananas and blame the Republican Party for killing people because they opposed increased federal spending on principle — as the dextrosphere did last week over swine flu funding in the porkulus.

Arlen Specter, Turncoat-Pennsylvania, takes it to a whole ‘nother level — blaming Republicans for not adopting his research spending priorities and actually exploiting Jack Kemp’s death from cancer to take a shot at fiscal conservatives.

Reason number 999,769 we are glad Specter has taken off the elephant costume and made his conversion to Ass-dom official:

Ed Morrissey debunks Specter’s lie:

During Republican control of Congress, federal spending on health research and regulation increased 46% after inflation, from $49 billion a year to $72 billion a year, or about 7% increase each year. That’s almost the same rate of increase as Defense spending got in the same period (48%), when we actually had a real war on our hands, and not a political contrivance for excusing federal spending.

And Specter wonders why he can’t get within 20 points of Pat Toomey in a primary race?

These are the exact kind of digusting words that come from elected democrats directed at republicans. SPECTRE (purposely misspelled) is now in the proper place. Now, when will a repubican respond to this sickening remark? Problem is, there won’t be any.

The democrats fight republicans the way the republicans approaced the war on terror – being on the offensive. The republicans don’t see themselves in a war against democrats, thus never respond to attacks. This only leads to more attacks and an increased weakness of the republican party.

I think the Dems are actually worse off for his switch. Had he stayed a Republican, he would have gotten trounced by Toomey in the primary, and Toomey would have gotten trounced by a reliable liberal in the general election. Instead, Toomey might get lose the primary to Tom Ridge, who is popular enough to maybe beat Specter in the general.

Does he really think the Dems are/were going to welcome him with open arms and huge welcomong parties? They are doing nothing but laughing at him.

All someone need do is study history. You can see what happens to traitors. Take the case of Benedict Arnold. Here was a man who was once an enormous hero to the United States both before they declared their Independance and afterward. All of a sudden, ol Ben doesn’t think he is getting the recognition he deserves and decides to hand over West Point to the British, and destroying the name Benedict for all time in this country in the process.

But how was he eventually treated by the British for his deeds? (and actual failure, due to the entire thing being discovered before he could actually hand over W.P.) He was treated like someone who could not be trusted. The British, while taking him in and allowing him to return to England after the war, never trusted him. He was seen as a traitor even in the eyes of those he helped.

So just how does Spectre think he will end up being seen by the Dems? Laughing stock and traitor maybe?

BINGO! Remove government funding for failure and the private sector will compete to be the first with the cures and make the big money.

Same with embryonic stem cell research. The private sector is staying away because of the problems that do not occur with adult stem cells which work. As soon as gooberment funding is provided for embryonic stem cell research, they money will be grabbed in large amounts and who could blame researchers. They can fail all day long and get paid for zero results. Great system. Kinda like paying people to stay home and not working.

Yes, and for what? Someday he is not going to like what he sees in the mirror very much.

You mean after he retired from the Senate in 2006? Gee. I guess you’re right. When IS the last time anyone made a fuss about a retired Senator?

FOMan: That would require some semblance of a conscience — I get the distinct impression most politicians lose that the day they win their first election!

After the Kemp family completes their mourning the loss of the late, great Senator, I hope one of them will go on to demand a public apology of this horse’s a$$ or at least give him a solid poke in the eye. Is this Arlen Specter or Arlen Speculate?

Whatever, I should just drop kick his sorry a$$ across the U.S. in a tribute to Jack Kemp. Maybe I could raise money for cancer research that way. Anyone want to donate a-dollar-a-mile?

Again, my apologies to horses’ a$$es, everywhere.

The problem with all senators retiring are their perks for life, while you and I struggle on a daily basis to keep our heads above water. Term limits must be set in place. Government service was never meant to be a career choice.

As far as Specter’s idiot remarks – yes, he’s survived cancer and feels he can legitimately comment about it. Although I’m starting to question whether some brain damage may be exhibiting itself with his recent decisions. I can not imagine the feelings of the Kemp family about such obvious pandering. Especially, given the amount of taxpayer funding for research and developement. What an insensitive thing to say.

And with a second protocol to one that already has about a 90% rate of success. I believe the second one would be disallowed under the Dems plan.
